Privacy Policy

How ABC 24 Times handles your information, in plain English.

This policy explains what the ABC 24 Times website does and does not do with your information. It is written for the launch edition, so it describes how the site works today. If that changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.

The short version

  • There are no accounts, and you do not need to sign in.
  • We do not run analytics or advertising cookies by default.
  • Features you use are remembered in your own browser, not on our servers.

What stays on your device

Some features store small pieces of information in your browser's local storage so they work the way you expect. This information stays on your device. It includes:

  • Your theme choice (light or dark).
  • Stories you have saved.
  • Your preferred edition.
  • Your vote in any reader poll.
  • Email addresses you type into demo forms, such as the newsletter or waiting list forms. At this stage no real mailing list is connected, so these addresses remain on your device until one is.

You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings. Clearing it will reset your saved stories and preferences.

Cookies and tracking

The site does not set its own cookies and does not use analytics or ad-tracking cookies by default. If we introduce analytics or advertising in the future, we will describe it here first and, where required, ask for your consent. See Cookie Preferences and Ad Choices for related detail.

Third-party requests

To display the site, your browser may load resources from outside providers, such as web fonts from Google Fonts, styling from the Tailwind CDN, and images from an image host. When your browser makes those requests, the provider can see your IP address and basic browser details, as with any website. We do not control how those providers handle that data, so please consult their own policies.

Email you send us

If you write to us, for example at [email protected], [email protected] or [email protected], we receive your address and whatever you include. We use it to read and reply to your message and for editorial purposes, such as publishing an edited letter with your permission. We do not sell your information.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain uses. Because the site stores little on our side, most of your data is under your control in your browser. For any request or question, contact [email protected].

Children

ABC 24 Times is a general news site and is not directed at young children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may revise this policy as the site grows. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
