Letters are one of the oldest ways readers talk back to a newsroom, and we want to keep that conversation going. If a story changed your mind, missed something, or got something wrong, we would like to hear from you.
A note on status
No letters section is live yet. ABC 24 Times is in its launch edition, and we are still building the space where selected letters will appear. You can write to us now; when the section opens, selected letters will be published there. Until then, we read every letter we receive and may use your feedback to improve our coverage.
How to write a good letter
- Keep it under 250 words. Shorter letters are easier to publish in full.
- Refer to a specific story. Name the headline or topic you are responding to.
- Make one point well. A single clear argument beats a list of grievances.
- Include your full name and city. We publish both. Anonymous letters are not accepted, though we may withhold a name in rare cases where there is a genuine safety concern and we have verified your identity privately.
How to send it
Use the form on this page, which opens a message in your email app, or write directly to [email protected]. Please put the story headline in the subject line. If you are reacting to an Opinion column, you can also copy [email protected].
How letters are selected
We aim for a mix of viewpoints, including those that disagree with us. Selection depends on clarity, relevance, and whether the letter adds something new to the discussion. Not every letter can be published, and we cannot respond individually to all of them. Sending a letter does not guarantee publication.
How letters are edited
We may edit letters for length, grammar and clarity, and we will not change the meaning of what you wrote. Where an edit is substantial, we may check it with you first. By sending a letter, you give us permission to publish it, in whole or in part, on ABC 24 Times and in related newsletters.
What we do not publish
- Personal attacks, harassment or discriminatory language.
- Claims we cannot reasonably verify about named private individuals.
- Advertising, campaign material or form letters sent in bulk.
- Letters that have already appeared elsewhere.
Errors versus opinions
If you think we have made a factual mistake, please do not wait for a letters section. Write to [email protected] so that our editors can review it under the Corrections Policy. A letter is for debate; a correction request is for fixing the record. Both matter, and both are welcome.
Thank you for reading closely enough to disagree with us.
