ABC 24 Times is an independent digital dispatch, written for people who want to understand the world quickly without being worn down by it. We publish around the clock, in plain modern English, with a simple promise: clear reporting, honest labels, and a bias toward what is being built rather than only what is breaking.
Our mission
Most readers are busy professionals skimming on a phone between meetings. We write for that moment. Every story opens with a short standfirst, offers three key takeaways, and keeps the body tight enough to finish in a few minutes. We aim to be crisp, constructive and curious, never sensational, and we avoid clickbait and doom-loop framing. Hard news is reported plainly. Progress is reported with the same rigor as problems.
What we cover
Our coverage is organized into seven desks:
- World & Geopolitics: diplomacy, trade, and the forces shaping regions.
- Tech & Innovation: software, hardware, and the people applying them.
- Markets & Venture: how capital moves, explained without hype.
- Green Economy: energy, infrastructure, and the business of decarbonizing.
- Biotech & Health: research, tools, and what evidence does and does not show yet.
- Culture & Modern Living: design, work, cities, and everyday life.
- Opinion & Voices: clearly labeled argument, kept separate from news.
How you can read us
We publish in a few recurring formats. The 24 Stream is a continuously updated feed of short developments. The Daily Deep Dive is a longer piece that takes one subject apart properly. Audio briefings are planned for readers who prefer to listen, and the Morning Dispatch is a daily newsletter that gathers the essentials in one place. Some of these formats are further along than others, and each format's page says plainly what exists today.
A note on our launch edition
We would rather tell you the truth about where we are. ABC 24 Times is in its launch edition, and the newsroom is still being built. The stories you read here are illustrative scenarios, written to demonstrate our voice, structure and standards. They use unnamed or generic actors rather than real companies or people, and any figures are attributed to whoever reports them. We do not claim awards, audience numbers, bureau counts, partnerships or licences, because we have none to announce.
As the newsroom grows, we will say so here and in our Ownership Transparency page, in the same plain language.
Hold us to it
Our approach is described in detail in our Editorial Standards, our Corrections Policy and our Fact-Check Lab. If you spot a mistake, write to [email protected]. For anything else, [email protected] reaches the team. We read what you send, and we would like to hear what you think we are getting right and wrong.
