The Kansas City Chiefs are back in the free agency market after cornerback L’Jarius Sneed‘s trade to the Tennessee Titans cleared. With an extra $19.8 million in cash, the Chiefs have several roster holes to fill, including running back.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday, April 2, that former Baltimore Ravens star J.K. Dobbins was “currently in Kansas City on a visit with the Chiefs per his agency LAA Sports & Entertainment. The former Ravens starting running back ‘is expected to have a home very soon.’”

Spotrac.com projects Dobbins, the Ravens’ second-round pick from the 2020 NFL draft, earning a two-year, $4.3 million contract.

One person hoping Dobbins’ new “home” is with the Chiefs is wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, who signed a one-year $7 million deal with Kansas City last month. To lure the 25-year-old, Brown recycled the same recruitment message Chiefs head coach Andy Reid used on him.

Brown shared the text messages he received from Reid before agreeing to a deal with the Chiefs. “Hollywood, think Red today, KC Red with diamonds!!!” Reid messaged with a wink-face emoji. After Kansas City won back-to-back Super Bowls, the message worked.

Brown responded, “Yessir love the sound of that. Think Hollywood Brown. Lights, Camera, Action,” with two rocket ships emojis.

Reid used a similar tactic while recruiting linebacker Drue Tranquill last offseason. “Andy Reid literally texted me the morning of [when] I was going to make my decision and he was like, ‘Think red. Think red. Think Super Bowls,’” Tranquill told NFL Access.

“I just felt really valued over there, felt like they really had a role for me and really wanted me over there.”

Chiefs News: J.K. Dobbins’ Lengthy Injury History Is Concerning

Dobbins entered the NFL with high expectations after becoming the first running back in Ohio State history to rush for over 2,000 yards (2,003) in a single season. In 15 game appearances and 1 start in his rookie year, Dobbins registered 134 rushes for 805 yards and 9 touchdowns.

However, after tearing his ACL in a preseason game, he missed the entire 2021 NFL season. He appeared in 8 games the following year, recording 92 rushes for 520 yards and 2 scores, along with 7 receptions for 42 yards and a touchdown. During the first week of the 2023 NFL season, the former Buckeyes star tore his Achilles in Week 1.

Dobbins’ performance when healthy is not a concern, it’s his ability to stay healthy. However, he should be ready to go in Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero posted on March 26, “Dobbins has been cleared for football activities, Dr. Neal ElAttrache wrote in a letter to select teams today, noting Dobbins looks ‘outstanding’ coming off a torn Achilles. Dobbins, who averages 5.8 ypc in his career, is expected to take visits soon. ”

Before visiting the Chiefs, Dobbins had a free agency visit with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Free-agent RB J.K. Dobbins has been cleared for football activities, Dr. Neal ElAttrache wrote in a letter to select teams today, noting Dobbins looks “outstanding” coming off a torn Achilles.

The 5-foot-10, 215-pound running back could offer the Chiefs a huge offensive boost. Bleacher Report’s Scott Polacek dubbed Kansas City the “ideal landing spot” for Dobbins.

“He wouldn’t be expected to be the clear-cut featured back thanks to the presence of Isiah Pacheco, which should allow him to work his way back into a rotation as he returns to the field. What’s more, defenses will hardly ever stack the box against him since Patrick Mahomes is under center, which should create plenty of running lanes.

“Adding someone who has posted nearly six yards per rushing attempt to an offense that already features Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Brown and Pacheco could be quite the issue for the rest of the league as the Chiefs attempt to win a third straight Lombardi Trophy.”

Kelce and Swift are believed to have stayed at the Four Seasons after enjoying the day with Jason and his family.

On previous visits, Swift has stayed at The Ritz Carlton and has been seen dining at the Four Season’s Jean-Georges restaurant.

They flew back to the west coast Monday morning landing at Burbank airport and deplaning amid a thicket of umbrellas around 1:30pm local time.

Kylie, who is an event consultant and field hockey coach, noted she wasn’t used to the level of attention that’s been thrust upon her and Jason in recent months.

Diaz has emerged as the Mets’ top closer – the pitcher selected for the final few innings to close out a win – since his arrival in New York from Seattle Mariners in 2019.

He won the Trevor Hoffman Award as the best reliever in the National League in 2022 after a season to remember, saving 32 games for his team, and fans are eager to see him back in action in 2024 after a year on the sidelines with injury.

He’s not the only star of the family, though, with Alexis currently playing with the Cincinnati Reds and the brothers set to play each other for the first time in over a year when their teams meet in April.

And it appears their relationship is not short on sibling rivalry, as well as – like the Kelce’s – brotherly love.

“He’s doing great, I’m really happy for him,” Mets star Diaz told talkSPORT from the club’s Spring Training base in Florida.

“I can’t wait to start the season and see if we can both make the All-Star Game. It’s really special, it’s a dream come true for our family. Coming from the bottom, we played together in the World Baseball Classic for the first time. We faced each other in Major League Baseball twice. It’s really fun.

“We focus on our business but we talk almost every day. We watch each other’s games and if he has to say something to me he does. If I see something with him, I call him and tell him, ‘You did this good and this bad’, and we try to figure it out every time.

“Is there brother rivalry? 100 per cent! We both think the same way because we like to compete. He’s a closer and I’m a closer, I want to have a better year than him, but at the end of the day I want him to be good too.

“It was a dream playing in the big leagues. I made it faster than him but in the end he made it too and I’m really happy for that.”

However, when asked if there could be a Diaz brothers podcast in the works, like the Kelce brothers’ popular New Heights show, he said: “I don’t think so – I don’t like him that much!

“If one day we have to start one, we’ll have to talk and show the people how friendly we are.”

While the majority of MLB teams began the new campaign as part of Wednesday’s Opening Day celebrations, the Mets were forced to wait until Thursday due to rain in New York seeing their clash with the Milwaukee Brewers delayed.

One day is nothing to Diaz, though, after a year out with a knee injury he suffered at the WBC with Puerto Rico, and he can’t wait to get back and show fans what they and the team have been missing.

“I think we have a really good team this year – I don’t know if we will win 100 games but I’m pretty sure we will have a great season and try to make the playoffs,” said Diaz, who played a major role in the Mets’ memorable 101-win season in 2022.

It was only the fourth time in franchise history the Mets had amassed more than 100 victories in a season, and Diaz says the current team – led by new manager Carlos Mendoza – is capable of doing it again.

He said: “The 2022 season was special for us. I think this year we can do something close to that. I can feel the vibe here in the clubhouse, I feel really happy with the team.

“I can tell you about the bullpen, we have a couple of pitchers who are really good. If they have a good season, we will have a great season. They can help me and I can help them. We can have a good season if they perform really good.

“We have a new manager, a new front office, we have got everything new. I think they’re really good. I like what they have been doing here. That has put us in a position to perform good and try to make the playoffs – that’s the main goal for us.

“The coach communicates with me really good. As soon as he got the job he called me, that was really nice of him. I’m happy with him and how he handles the business and can’t wait to start the season.”

Diaz’s injury last year was a source of frustration for the Mets and fans. The team has just made him the most valuable relief pitcher in the history of baseball by signing him to a new five-year deal worth $102million in November 2022.

Four months later, he suffered a serious injury to his right knee while celebrating with his Puerto Rico teammates, after closing out a game against rivals Dominican Republic to send his nation to the WBC quarter-finals.

The timing of the injury led to questions being asked about the WBC and whether MLB stars should play, but Diaz has no regrets and explained why representing your country is so important to overseas players currently starring in the States.

“Baseball is massive in Puerto Rico, it’s the No.1 sport, and playing for our country is really big for us,” he said.

“We have the chance to represent our nation. Every time the WBC comes, that’s something big. People follow that because we play with a lot of emotion and we want to win the ring there.

“Every time we have the chance to play in the WBC we give 100 per cent. We are representing our country and we only get the chance to do that once every four years, and when that time comes, you feel like, ‘Oh s***, I’ve got to perform really good to represent my country’, because we want to win.

“Every time when we are in the locker room, we are expecting to win and trying to do our best. And the atmosphere at the games is different too, especially against the Dominican Republic. We are really close countries. Every time we play against DR the stadium goes all over the place. That’s really nice to see.”

2024 is setting up to be a special season for Diaz, who is also set to travel with the Mets to UK shores in the summer to face rivals the Philadelphia Phillies in the MLB World Tour: London Series.

“It will be my first time in Europe, it will be fun, I can’t wait to be there – the Mets and Phillies will be a great series,” said the star ahead of the Mets’ trip to play at West Ham’s London Stadium.

“My wife really wants to go and my parents are coming from Puerto Rico, too. That will be the first time for them too. That will be a great experience for all my family.

“I think we have one or two days off, so I will spend those days doing some tourism with my family.”

Kelce, 34, and his Pennsylvania-born pop princess arrived from Los Angeles on Sunday morning for a flying visit to Jason’s house in Haverford Township, an upmarket enclave only nine miles outside Philadelphia.

 

DailyMail.com has obtained exclusive photographs of their automobile parked in the driveway of Jason’s charming stone home, which has a wraparound deck and is set on an acre of landscaped gardens complete with large patio and swimming pool. Kelce and Swift almost certainly participated in the family’s annual Easter egg hunt, something Swift has always enjoyed.

 

Swift, then 25, shared a 29-second video on Instagram in 2015 showing her racing around her parents’ yard, fighting with younger brother Austin, 23, in a desperate quest to discover more Easter eggs than him.

She captioned it, ‘When your parents prepare a competitive sibling Easter egg hunt failing to take into account that their children are Ross and Monica,’ referring to the Friends characters. Kelce and Swift are thought to have stayed at the Four Seasons after spending the day with Jason and his family.

Swift has previously stayed at The Ritz-Carlton and dined at Four Seasons’ Jean-Georges restaurant. They returned to the west coast on Monday morning, landing at Burbank Airport and disembarking under a thicket of umbrellas around 1:30pm local time.

The couple has been almost inseparable since Swift returned to the United States after finishing the Australia and Asia legs of her mammoth Eras Tour last month. She recently returned from a sun-filled vacation on the Bahamian island of Eleuthera.

Jason Kelce revealed he has some lofty weight-loss goals after retiring from the NFL earlier this year.

During an interview with Arnold Schwarzenegger on Wednesday’s episode of the “New Heights” podcast, the former Philadelphia Eagles center, 36, detailed his plan to shed almost 50 pounds.

“I’m in the process right now, I’m retired,” he told the former Governor of California.

“I’ve played my whole career at 295 [pounds]. I’m trying to get down to 250-260. My goal is two pounds every week, lose it, but maintain my muscle mass,” Jason added.

“And I’m trying to monitor my carbs, my proteins and my fats.”

Schwarzenegger suggested that Kelce should “slowly decrease body fat” while “increasing body muscle.”

Elsewhere in the episode, Travis Kelce revealed his big brother had been trying his hand at veganism.

“Jason does a lot of erm, what is it, you’re vegan?” the Kansas City Chiefs star, 34, said.

“Jason’s real vegan. I always was out on vegan. I tried it one week and couldn’t do it. I needed way more protein than beans.”

The revelation comes less than one month after Jason said he didn’t believe in extreme dieting.

“I look forward to getting skinny. But I’m gonna slim down … this last week I got down to like 285,” he said during a March episode of the brothers’ podcast.

“There’s different ways to do this. I personally don’t subscribe to doing extreme diets like going all the way vegan or all the way carnivore or keto. F–k no, I’m not doing that.”

Travis, for his part, also addressed his weight during the episode, after fans joked that he had a “dad bod” while on vacation with girlfriend Taylor Swift.
