Michael Jordan was left in shock after visiting the stunning new base of his 23XI NASCAR racing team, which includes ping pong, air hockey and stacks of his signature sneakers.

‘Man, oh man’, the NBA legend said as he took a tour of the 114,000-square-foot facility in North Carolina.

Jordan owns 23XI alongside driver Denny Hamlin, who helped design the ‘Airspeed’ base in Huntersville.

‘You guys earned this, I love it,’ Jordan told workers at the facility, which includes no few nods to the two co-owners. One conference room features Denny’s trophies, helmets and fire suit.

Another includes dozens of Jordan’s signature sneakers – stacked in the shape of the No 23. ‘This is far better,’ Jordan joked as he walked into the room.

 

There are 45 pairs of branded shoes in the room, all of which Hamlin had in his basement. MJ reportedly joked that he should instead use size 13 game-worn sneakers.

Some of the walls at ‘Airspeed’ are painted Chicago Bulls red, with 23 colors used across the building – all pointing to an iconic Jordan sneaker.

Hamlin was inspired by NBA and NHL arenas when he designed the facility, where the team will plot victory on the track.

The driver began working on initial sketches around three years ago, having seen a documentary involving the Mercedes Formula 1 team.

‘Airspeed’ took around eight months to complete, with Hamlin getting his hands dirty – stocking up on plates and silverware and plants for the break room, which also includes a ping pong table and hockey table.

‘They’re getting the feel of being an athlete,’ Jordan said during his tour. He also told workers: ‘You keep winning, we keep improving’

Taylor Swift and her younger brother, Austin Swift, have a tight-knit bond.

While the siblings don’t constantly post about each other on social media, they have shared the rare tribute to each other over the years. Not to mention, Austin seems super supportive of Taylor’s relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

Not only has Austin been photographed alongside Taylor during various Chiefs games in 2023, but he got Kelce a special Christmas gift in December 2023, and the NFL star couldn’t help but gush over it.

“He actually made me feel like a child because his gift to me was straight out of the bag,” Kelce gushed during his “New Heights” podcast in December 2023. “[He] handed me a VHS of my favorite football movie of all time … Little Giants.”

While Austin hasn’t commented publicly on his sister’s romantic relationships, he has explained what it has been like having such an influential sibling.

“As a brother and friend I couldn’t be more proud, as a lifelong fan I am thrilled beyond words, as a human being I am simply dumbfounded at this level of artistry and depth of insight into what it is to love and to lose and to simply exist,” he wrote on Instagram in December 2020. “Now please stop reading this and go listen to evermore by @taylorswift !!!!!”

Taylor and Kanye West haven’t seen eye-to-eye in years, but when he released the song “Famous” in February 2016, Austin outwardly supported his sister.

Over the years, Austin has shared sweet birthday tributes dedicated to the “best sister.”

“I can’t believe you’ve been riding ponies, making music, playing with cats, and telling stories for almost three decades now,” he captioned an Instagram post from December 2016. “You’ve always been there for your family and friends no matter what and you’re always finding unique and beautiful ways to show us how much you care.”

Taylor shared an Instagram post about the 2018 midterm elections in Tennessee. Austin was beaming with pride when his sister shared her beliefs.

“When you thought you couldn’t respect your best friend any more than you already do. And then you do,” he wrote at the time, sharing her original caption.

Her Producing Credit

Eagle-eyed fans speculated that Austin released a cover of Taylor’s “Look What You Made Me Do” under the moniker Jack Leopards & The Dolphin Club. Nils Sjöberg — Taylor’s pseudonym — was listed as a producer on the track, which was featured in a 2020 episode of Killing Eve.

The single art featured what appeared to be a photo of Austin as a child with his face covered. In the image, the youngster is wearing a Dolphin Club T-shirt. Of course, neither sibling has confirmed the fan theory.

A Supportive Sibling

In 2022, Austin let it slip that he was on the team that helped created Taylor’s “I Bet You Think About Me” music video, which was directed by Blake Lively.

“I am so proud and thankful that we’ve been nominated for the ACM award for video of the year!” he wrote on Instagram of the song in February 2022.

The Travis Kelce Connection

Austin dressed up as Santa Claus during the Chiefs Christmas Day game in 2023 and earned Kelce’s respect.

“I respect a full commit,” the NFL star said on the “New Heights” podcast. “It was a full commit. He killed it.”

Miami Heat rookie Kel’el Ware stirred some controversy earlier this week when he omitted Michael Jordan from his NBA Mount Rushmore. Ware argued that some of Jordan’s stats were inflated or outright falsified.

“I would say MJ but I heard that some of his stats was false,” Ware told the Miami Mic’d Up podcast.

Specifically, Ware referenced the report by Yahoo! Sports’ Tom Haberstroh that purported to show some statistical discrepancies during the 1988 season when Jordan was named Defensive Player of the Year. The report included testimony from former Vancouver Grizzlies scorekeeper Alex Rucker, who confirmed that stat padding for hometown players was the norm.

A review of several games found that Jordan was credited with more steals than he actually had.

Ware ultimately decided on Wilt Chamberlain, Kobe Bryant, Anthony Edwards, and Heat teammate Bam Adebayo for his Mount Rushmore. The omission of Jordan and the inclusion of Adebayo should be disqualifying, and that’s without even pointing out that Bryant played during the Tim Donaghy era. Many still feel the Los Angeles Lakers benefitted from Donaghy and the game-fixing scandal.

But even with Jordan set aside, Ware skipped over LeBron James, Bill Russell, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson and several others who the case could be made for.

The Los Angeles Lakers have the fifth-best odds of landing Markkanen at +2000, behind the Golden State Warriors (+900), San Antonio Spurs (+1250), Houston Rockets (+1500) and Oklahoma City Thunder (+1500).

‘My anger, and my actions, are not who I am, and certainly not indicative of the welcoming community of Margate.

‘You know, anybody can sue you, take you for whatever you got. At this point, I don’t work, I don’t make millions of dollars where it’s coming in where I could just (pay off) some of that money.’

‘Chapter 11 is about restructuring the money you’re making so you can take care of the debt.’

Three of the UK’s major airports have won an injunction to stop Just Stop Oil protesters from disrupting flights.

Stansted, East Midlands and Manchester Airports have all fallen victim to renegade plotters storming terminal buildings, gluing themselves to runways and climbing on jets.

The move comes after an undercover investigation by The Mail on Sunday revealed a plot by Just Stop Oil activists to disrupt flights this summer.

Two Just Stop Oil activists were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage after appearing to spray orange paint over private jets at Stansted Airport – with one jet parked in the airfield thought to belong to singer Taylor Swift.

Timothy Morshead KC, acting for the airports, said JSO had ‘explicitly threatened a campaign of protest at the UK’s airports’ and there was an ‘imminent’ risk of blockades, obstructions and disruption.

In a post on X on June 20, Just Stop Oil said: ‘Jennifer and Cole cut the fence into the private airfield at Stansted where @taylorswift13’s jet is parked, demanding an emergency treaty to end fossil fuels by 2030.’

On Friday, Judge Rosalind Coe KC granted the injunction against ‘persons unknown whose purpose is or includes protest on the premises’ in relation to the three airports.

She said while there are bylaws and criminal laws which may apply to such demonstrations, ‘they do not prevent the threat or the action that an injunction would’.

Judge Coe said the injunction will be reviewed after 12 months.

The High Court injunction comes just days after police rounded up 27 JSO activists who are suspected of plotting to disrupt airports this summer, as part of a ‘swift and robust’ co-ordinated police operation.

A total of 27 ‘key organisers’ of planned disruption have been held in London, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Devon, Essex, Manchester, Surrey, Sussex, Norfolk and West Yorkshire.

On Tuesday, four people were arrested and released on bail after being identified at Gatwick Airport, while on Thursday, six were arrested at an east London community centre as part of a publicly-advertised event promoting airport disruption.

Last week, 17 individuals were arrested at their homes across the country.

The arrests follow JSO’s attempts to ratchet up thei rprotests.

At a meeting, which was attended by an undercover MoS reporter, JSO co-founder Indigo Rumbelow was greeted by cheers as she told the audience: ‘We are going to continue to resist. We’re going to ratchet it up.

‘We’re going to take our non-violent, peaceful demonstrations to the centre of the carbon economy. We’re going to be gathering at airports across the UK.’

Ms Rumbelow, the 29-year-old daughter of a property developer, has previously been arrested for conspiracy to cause public nuisance during the King’s Coronation and made headlines last year when Sky News host Mark Austin had to beg her to ‘please stop shouting’ during an interview.

Outlining a blueprint for causing travel chaos, she advocated:

● Cutting through fences and gluing themselves to runway tarmac;

● Cycling in circles on runways;

● Climbing on to planes to prevent them from taking off;

● Staging sit-ins at terminals ‘day after day’ to stop passengers getting inside airports.

Miss Rumbelow told the crowd: ‘We’re going to be saying to the Government: ‘If you’re not going to stop the oil, we’re going to be doing it for you.”

Airports have now fought back against the planned chaos and hope that this injunction will stop protesters in their tracks.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Met Police said: ‘All the individuals were arrested under a section of the Public Order Act which makes it illegal to conspire to disrupt national infrastructure.

‘Among those held were several high-profile members of Just Stop Oil who we believe to be key organisers.

‘Met officers worked with more than eight other police forces to arrest suspects at their homes across the country. A total of 17 people were arrested.’
