The opportunity also came with a better shot at O’Neal’s first title alongside the new draft pick, Kobe Bryant.

Shaq called Dr. J to get assurance that he was making the right decision. “I said, ‘Doc I got an opportunity, they not doing this…” After filling him, Erving told him to “follow your heart.” That was only the surface of Erving’s impact on Shaq.

For Kelce aпd the Chiefs, the maiп focυs oп Sυпday will be defeпdiпg their title to become back-to-back Sυper Bowl champioпs. With a wiп comes the talk of a dyпasty, Kelce believes.

“I woυld say, yoυ get three,” he said oп Wedпesday. “I thiпk three is a lυcky пυmber. Oпe is – aпybody caп be oпe aпd doпe. I thiпk two is special, bυt three is wheп yoυ solidify yoυrself as a dyпasty for sυre.”

As the defending Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and tight end have an undeniable relationship on the field — a connection many have described as telepathic, whether they’re fans of the team or not.

When asked by PEOPLE about their communication on the gridiron during Thursday’s Super Bowl press conference in Las Vegas, both Mahomes and Kelce explained the verbal and non-verbal queues they use to drive points during games.

“I think there’s just been a lot of work that’s gone in, so there are some things that don’t need to be said,” Kelce, 34, replied when speaking to the room of reporters. “But at the same time, there’s little bits of communication that can assure you and make sure that we’re both on the same page at times.”

Kelce went on to explain that their strategy differs depending on the situation.

“Everything that we do on the field is play specific and really dependent on what coverage is and things that the other team is playing,” he said of his plays with Mahomes, 28. “It really just depends on the scenario.”

“I’ve been fortunate to be able to grow on this offense with the big guy,” added Kelce — who contributed to the Chiefs’ success in clinching the victory against the Baltimore Ravens during the AFC Championship game on Jan. 28, securing the team a spot in the Super Bowl for the fourth time since 2019.

During Mahomes’ press conference, PEOPLE posed the same question — though specifically asking about Kelce’s quote regarding the “things that don’t need to be said.”

“We think along the same wavelength on kind of a lot of things,” Mahomes told reporters when asked about his telepathic connection with Kelce. “We have a lot of similar hobbies, similar interests and it translates to the football field.”

Mahomes explained, “A lot of times, there might be something we haven’t talked about that he kind of does and I just know he’s going to do it — and so, it comes with a lot of reps.”

He continued, “A lot of times its just hanging out just kind of learning about football and each other and what we do and have had success on the football field.”

Mahomes confirmed that words “for sure” don’t have to be used on the field at times. “Being able to be on the same wavelength with someone else,” he said, “breeds more success” in all aspects of life, both on and off the field.

For Mahomes and Kelce in particular, the QB said being on that same wavelength with the star tight end is “something we’ve done throughout our careers.”

On Sunday, the Chiefs will return to the Super Bowl to defend their championship title against the San Fransisco 49ers at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. A win for the Chiefs would mark a third title for both Mahomes and Kelce.

The two teams will meet in Las Vegas in a rematch of the 2020 Super Bowl with each side looking to bring the celebrations to the United States’ party capital.

It’s been a long week of buildup for both teams and Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and co will now hope they have done all they can to lift the Lombardi Trophy this weekend as they completed their final training session before the big day. The reigning Super Bowl champions reportedly worked on red-zone, short-yardage and goal-line plays in a 66-minute session Friday.

The team will have a mock game Saturday then take a team photo and return to its hotel 30 minutes from Allegiant Stadium.

‘We’ve gotten everything done that we needed to get done,’ Reid told NBC’s Peter King. ‘They’ve done good work. They’ve been focused in. I get to see it every day. That’s kind of their makeup, whether things are going good or not going good. ‘It starts with Pat [Mahomes] and [Travis] Kelce and Chris Jones and [cornerback L’Jarius] Sneed. The players have maximized what we’ve given them as coaches, and they’ve done a nice job out here.’

The Chiefs ruled out All-Pro left guard Joe Thuney for the Super Bowl against the Niners on Sunday because of a pectoral injury.

Wide receiver Rashee Rice and running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, though, appear ready to go.

Rice was a full participant in practice Friday after he was stepped on near the end of the previous day’s workout, while Edwards-Helaire also put in a full practice after dealing with an illness earlier in the week.

The only player that the Chiefs listed as questionable on the final injury report was running back Jerick McKinnon, who remains on injured reserve after surgery in January for a core muscle injury. The Chiefs have until Saturday afternoon to add him onto the active roster for the Super Bowl, though Reid described his chances of playing as ‘slim’ earlier in the week.

Chiefs coach Reid insisted all week he wasn’t counting Thuney out, right through the end of a 66-minute workout Friday at the practice facility of the AFC West-rival Raiders. But given Thuney had not practiced since before he was hurt in the divisional round in Buffalo, it had become increasingly clear that Allegretti would get the start in his place.

Swift is due on stage for her last night in Tokyo at 8pm on Saturday February 10. That’s 3am on the same day in Las Vegas.

If her show lasts its usual three and a half hours, she should be leaving the stage around 11.30pm. That’s 6.30am in Las Vegas.

The last time she performed in Japan, in 2015, Swift brought Narita airport to a standstill as she was practically stampeded by fans.These days her security is an altogether tighter machine, with her cavalcade of cars usually securing a police escort to speed her from A to B.

It’s a 40-minute drive from the Tokyo Dome to Narita for mere mortals but Swift doesn’t need to worry about stop signs or traffic signals.

Similarly flying private means she doesn’t have to worry about pesky TSA security so, with the wind behind her, Swift could be boarding her jet around 1am local time, 8am Vegas time.

After a roughly 13-hour flight, Swift could touch down at Harry Reid International Airport, Las Vegas around 9pm Saturday February 10.

Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce showed off his team pride during an Adele concert in Las Vegas ahead of watching his brother Travis play in Super Bowl LVIII.

Adele is in the middle of doing a Vegas residency at Caesars Palace on the Strip and Kelce went to one of her shows alongside his wife Kylie.

 

At one point, the British songstress took a poll of the crowd to see if they were there to support the Kansas City Chiefs or the San Francisco 49ers.

Video captured one person, supposedly Kelce, shouting out ‘EAGLES!’ which generated a reaction from Adele.

‘What did you say?,’ she asked before commenting, ‘You sound drunk and like a football fan.’

However, there’s a lack of clarity on what Jason’s future looks like. While reports circulated that he was retiring, the center quickly clarified that he would be the one to announce it.

That doesn’t mean that he hasn’t already been looking at a next chapter. Reports from Front Office Sports indicate the Eagles center has met with Fox and ESPN executives in Vegas to potentially move to the broadcast booth whenever he does decide to hang up the cleats.

The report from FOS comes not long after The Sun reported that there is already a ‘scramble’ among several broadcasters to win his services, which could reportedly land him about $5million per year.
