If jumpsuits and trouser suits have given the party dress a run for its money in recent seasons, then the catsuit is making a bid for its crown for autumn/winter 2018 – at least Rihanna, Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid seem to think so.

Call it a reaction to the catsuit Serena Williams was banned from wearing at the US Open, but all three stars have recently all been seen wearing various incarnations of the style made famous by Catwoman.

Bella Hadid, who is a long-standing fan of the sheer catsuit having worn one to the 2017 Met Gala, was first to show her support, choosing a nude Mugler version for last week’s Harper’s Bazaar Icons Party in New York.

The attention-grabbing style featured a bodice with a plunging neckline and nude briefs cut high.

“I’ve been waiting to wear it since Cannes,” she told E! on the night. “I’m happy to finally put it on and wear it. But, I’m not going to say I can breathe. It’s a bit tight.”

Last night saw both Rihanna and Gigi Hadid in very different catsuits. At her fundraising Diamond Ball in NY, Rihanna chose an Alexis Mabille Couture white lace style that featured a giant ribbon. She accessorised with simple white stilettos and statement earrings.
