With dozens of hit singles and a staggering number of awards to her name, Rihanna has no trouble proving that she is one of the most successful female artists in popular music.

And on Sunday the 25-year-old kicked off the European leg of her Diamonds World Tour to a packed crowd at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre in Spain.

The tour, which is her fifth since releasing her first single Pon De Replay in 2005, features specially designed couture by Givenchy, Christian Dior, Manolo Blahnik and Christian Louboutin.

Wearing her long brown tresses in curls around her shoulder the We Found Love singer performed in a series of specially designed outfits for the tour that showed off her toned physique.

Before hitting the stage the Stay singer posted a sun-drenched snap of herself enjoying a rare moment off in the northern Spanish town with the caption: ‘Smart work pays off!!!’

The Barbados born star also drew attention to her natural beauty with a make-up free picture titled, ‘Bitchez be like… “#nomakeup”‘ — an obvious dig at an earlier Twitter spat with Amanda Bynes.

Hours before stepping on stage on Sunday the singer was caught in a strange Twitter war with the embattled 27-year-old, who after days of intense media spotlight following her arrest in New York City turned her anger toward Rhianna in a series of racist and offensive remarks about the singer and her relationship with Chris Brown.

The tirade, which was quickly deleted, began with Amanda writing, ‘@rihanna you look so ugly tryin (sic) to be white’, followed within minutes by a message blaming the singer for being assaulted by her ex-boyfriend.

Moments later she attacked the star again with a reference to Brown’s assault on her in 2009, claiming the singer did so because Rihanna was unattractive.

‘Chris Brown beat you because you’re not pretty enough,’ Amanda tweeted.

The She’s The Man actress then retweeted a post by Rihanna: ‘Look who came to see me!! My lover Stella McCartney!!!’ to which Amanda responded: ‘No one wants to be your lover so you call everyone and their mother that I almost named my new dog Rihanna.’

Rihanna, who is known for her own feisty temper on Twitter, addressed the remarks within minutes of their posting.

Twitter war: Amanda posted numerous offensive comments about the singer’s appearance, race and being a victim of domestic violence before deleting them

MailOnline have reached out to Amanda’s lawyer and Rihanna’s spokesman for comment.

Speculation persists if Amanda’s unrequited love for Rihanna’s rumoured ex-boyfriend and collaborator, rapper Drake, sparked the Twitter attack.

Amanda’s online infatuation with the musician has been well-documented. She famously tweeted in March she wanted Drake to ‘murder my vagina’.

A video obtained by TMZ shows Amanda repeatedly telling him: ‘You can’t touch me.’

She then asks: ‘Is it the ugly black man? There’s another ugly black man.’

The photographer then repeated the comment and asked if the 27-year-old was racist, a claim which she denied.

‘There’s an ugly white one. It’s not racist,’ she is heard saying.

Amanda’s behaviour has been chronicled intensely since she left California – where she was charged with DUI and other driving offenses – and moved to New York.

She recently attempted to change her appearance, piercing her cheeks, shaving off her hair and wearing wigs, all the while tweeting photos of her transformation.

Amanda was arrested on Thursday after staff at her apartment building called police alleging she had been behaving erratically and smoking marijuana.

The star spent a night in jail and then appeared in court on Friday morning for her arraignment, where she denied any wrongdoing.
