And yet today Rihanna reeled in the experimental footwear in favor of something a bit more practical.

Making her way through the torrential storm that’s been pounding New York’s streets, Rihanna unpredictably opted for classic Hunter Wellington boots.

The snub-nosed rubber boot was reasonably less fashion-forward than, say, her nearly pubic-bone-skimming Vetements pirate boots, but when paired with her fire-engine red Vetements x Canada Goose parka, there was something decidedly edgy about the usually staid shoe.

With her Louis Vuitton Palm Springs Mini backpack dangling from her hands, Rih hit the soaked streets like a Bad Gal taking on the great outdoors. Although a departure for the pop star, the Wellington boots made for an outpouring of unforgettable style.
