Michael Jordan is not only a name, it’s an emotion and, to memorabilia fanatics, it’s a jackpot. The former Bulls star’s game-used items have been auctioned in the past, fetching millions of dollars and the trend hasn’t died down a bit even after two decades of his retirement.
Recently, a game-used patch card was listed for auction on Goldin’s website. The bidding war ensued soon after and the zeal shown by the collectors left a lot of auction followers with teary eyes. Serena Williams’ husband was one of them as he took to social media to share his reaction. In an X (formerly known as Twitter) post, Alexis Ohanian wrote, “This. Is. Nuts. And yet, I get it.”

The final selling price of the card is just over $2.9 million, according to the details on the auction house’s website. But is there a link between why Ohanian is suddenly taking interest in Michael Jordan? Of course, it’s obvious to have an interest in an icon of the game, but while having a sporting icon in the house, there was something more than meets the eye behind the post.
Serena Williams Teams Up With Michael Jordan
The reason was the newly formed alliance between Jordan and Serena Williams. The tennis legend recently joined His Airness’ business as a co-owner of Jordan’s Cincoro Tequila brand.
“Being part of Cincoro isn’t just about business—it’s about championing a legacy of greatness. I love Cincoro. Just as I’ve strived for excellence on the court, I recognize the dedication and drive behind Cincoro and I’m thrilled to be part of the team,” said the 23-time grand slam winner in a press release.
Michael Jordan started the brand in 2019 alongside the likes of Jeanie Buss, Derek Jeter, Wes Eden, Wyc Grousbeck, and Emilia Fazzalari. Since then, the brand has welcomed multiple sporting personalities on board in the growth of their expanding business.
