Bronny James’ emotional reception to Lakers sparks heartwarming reactions
It was a big night for LeBron James’ household. After years of hard work and helping Bronny James reach the pinnacle of basketball, it has finally happened. The Los Angeles Lakers have selected the young James with the 55th overall pick of the 2024 NBA Draft. Rob Pelinka and JJ Redick will still see how he plays out during training camps all the way to the Summer League. If all else goes well, he could very well be starting alongside his father in the association.
Before a lot of the Lakers fans got ahead of themselves, Bronny James just had to savor the moment. After all, it is not every day that Mark Tatum gets to call your name in the NBA Draft. Even if it was during the second round, the occasion was still momentous and will be one of the most memorable moments for LeBron James’ eldest son.

Lakers faithful welcome Bronny James amid an emotional night

While the Lakers legend’s household was filled with emotions, the same could be said for social media. Everyone was giving their own take on this very emotionally loaded moment for JJ Redick and Rob Pelinka’s new player.
“Bronny James’ name being called at the draft must hit especially for the James family. I wonder where the James family is celebrating tonight, I know Bronny is happy, but nobody on Earth is happier than LeBron that’s for sure lol,” a user said.
“Happy for Bronny James. He deserves the opportunity. It’s tough seeing the high expectations and hate he faces, especially since he hasn’t even played yet. The pressure on him is immense. Best of luck young fella!” another member of the Lakers faithful said.
Some were already making big declarations immediately after the Lakers called up Bronny James, “Bronny James is about to prove all of his haters, critics and doubters wrong. He’s living his dream right now. I’m happy for him. I can’t wait to see the Lakers also watching him develop as a player as the years go on. So Bronny James Welcome to LA.”
Others were very happy that LeBron James and his son will get to accomplish great things together, “I’m happy for Bronny James, it’s a good thing the Lakers drafted him to play with his father. Lebron will show him the way, and Bronny will get the shine on the Lakers because if he went to a different team he won’t get as much shine.”
Things to improve on after the NBA Draft
The journey does not end here for the younger James. It is actually just getting started. A focal point of his improvement that the Lakers need to take care of is the three-point shot. While he had this in his bag prior to entering USC, it just seemingly disappeared.
To put it into perspective, he only sank 26.7% of his shots from way out. This is not a good look for the current state of the league. If the Lakers get to fix that, a stable career could be in his future.
