Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster are reportedly “happier than ever” over two years after allegedly having an affair while starring together in The Music Man on Broadway.
Reports of their romance began just a few months after Jackman and longtime partner Deborra-Lee Furness announced they were divorcing after nearly three decades together back in September 2023. However, it wasn’t until Foster filed for divorce from her husband, Ted Griffin, the following October that affair allegations reached an all-time high.
Per a bombshell November report in Us Weekly, Jackman and Foster’s affair began while working on their Broadway show and ultimately caused his divorce from Furness.
“Deborra-Lee was blindsided when she found out about the affair through the run of the show,” one source alleged. “I think many people were shocked [Jackman] could do this to her,” another insider claimed.
That said, many questions still remain about how Jackman and Foster’s romance began and how it exists today.
Are Hugh Jackman & Sutton Foster Still Together?
Jackman and Foster are reportedly still together after beginning their affair in 2022. However, they have not publicized their relationship and have not been seen together since their Broadway show ended in January 2023.
Per Us Weekly, Jackman has been seen coming and going from Foster’s NYC apartment. “They don’t live together because of their kids,” a source claimed. “But Sutton has told people on Broadway about the relationship. Everyone [there] has known about this for a long time.”
On Nov. 16, sources followed up with Us Weekly, saying the couple are enjoying a “lighthearted” and “joyful” relationship and spend their time going to New York restaurants, taking walks through Central Park and supporting one another’s careers.

Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster first met (and were first photographed together) back in 2008 when they were both seeing Shrek on Broadway.
June 2014: Jackman & Foster Dance Together at the Tony Awards
In 2014, Jackman and Foster danced together at the Tony Awards during one of Jackman’s performances. The actor was hosting the show and attended with his wife, Furness.
October 2021: Foster & Jackman Reunite For ‘The Music Man’
Sometime in October, rehearsal begins for the Broadway revival of The Music Man which Foster and Jackman led. On Nov. 8, 2021, Foster uploaded a video of them revealing they were three weeks into rehearsals.
“When we rehearse, I don’t want to be this close if that’s ok,” Jackman jokingly said in the video as they stood side by side speaking to the camera. “Week three, chemistry,” he added.
December 2021: ‘The Music Man’ Begins
On December 20, 2021, Foster and Jackman begin previews for The Music Man on Broadway.
Days before the show began, Jackman praised his co-star on Twitter, writing: “There are hundreds of people who’ve made this moment happen. But there’s one in particular I pay tribute to – @sfosternyc. this show is nothing without you. You’re an exceptional talent and friend.”
February 2022: Foster & Jackman Attend ‘The Music Man’ Premiere
On Feb. 10, 2022, Foster and Jackman attended The Music Man premiere, posing together on the red carpet.
“This man. An honor to be by your side. You. Are. The. BEST,” Foster captioned an Instagram post with photos of her and Jackman from the premiere.
Deborra-Lee Furness also attended, posing with Jackman’s friends Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively.
March 19, 2022: Jackman Signs ‘Happy Birthday’ To Foster
March – May 2022: Foster & Jackman’s Friendship Deepens
Over the next few months, Foster and Jackman go to numerous events together, attending charity events and the 2022 Tony Awards together.
“Sutton is literally the best in the world,” Jackman gushed about Foster while the two appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers in May 2022. “She’s incredible.”
According to an October 2024 report in the Daily Mail, Jackman’s wife grew suspicious of her husband’s relationship with Foster when their work together began.
“Deborra-Lee had her suspicions when Hugh started working with Sutton,” a source alleged. “Their relationship is not a secret to her.”
May 20, 2022: Foster & Jackman Get Close at the Drama League Awards
Jackman and Foster raised eyebrows with how touchy they were at the Annual Drama League Awards.
At the show, Jackman received the Distinguished Achievement in Musical Theatre award while Foster took home the Distinguished Performance Award for her role in The Music Man.
July 2022: Foster Reveals Her Pre-Show Ritual With Jackman
During an appearance on Live With Kelly & Ryan, Foster talked about a pre-show ritual she and Jackman did throughout The Music Man, saying, “We just talk and catch up on our day. That’s been one of the best parts of the whole thing that I’ve made this wonderful new friend.”
January 2023: Jackman & Foster End Their Broadway Run
The Music Man closes on Broadway in January 2023, marking the last public sighting of Jackman and Foster together.
Jackman continues to appear publicly with Furness for several more months, wishing her a happy 27th wedding anniversary in April and attending the Met Gala together in May.
In Oct. 2024, sources told Us Weekly that Jackman and Foster’s affair was already underway at this point. “It was apparently Broadway’s worst-kept secret, and Deborra-lee was the last to know,” the source alleged. “He didn’t own up to it.”
September 15, 2023: Jackman & Furness Announce Their Divorce
On Sept. 15, Jackman and Furness announced they were separating after 27 years of marriage via a statement to People.
“We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage,” they wrote. “We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.”
The couple share two adult children.
December 2023: The Affair Allegations Begin
In December 2023, InTouch is the first to report that Jackman and Foster were having an affair with a source alleging it was an “open secret” in Broadway circles. “[Jackman] has been besotted with Sutton from the moment he met her. He followed her around like a puppy!”
October 22, 2024: Foster Files for Divorce From Ted Griffin
Per court documents obtained by People, Foster filed for divorce from husband of 10 years Ted Griffin in New York City on Oct. 22, thus ramping up affair allegations. The couple share one daughter.
On Oct. 24, a Page Six source claims Foster and Jackman “are 100 percent together and are in love and want to spend the rest of their lives together.”
“They are still together,” a source adds. “They go out of their way to hide it, but it’s common knowledge.”
October 26, 2024: Furness Appears To Confirmed Affair Rumors
On Oct. 26, gossip blogger Tasha Lustig claimed in an Instagram post that Jackman “blindsided” Furness by “running off with the mistress.”
One of Furness’ pals Amanda de Cadenet commented, “You are on point with this one. My beloved friend Deb is about to have her glow up any moment fyi!”
Furness allegedly liked the post from a private account, more or less confirming this is the story.
November 12, 2024: Us Weekly Confirms Jackman & Foster’s Affair
On November 12, 2024, Us Weekly dropped a bombshell report claiming their alleged romance is “the reason” he filed for divorce from Furness.
“Sutton and Hugh’s relationship is the reason Hugh and Deb got divorced,” the insider confirmed. “A lot of people on Broadway knew, and we kept it quiet because both of them are so nice and great people. Everyone respected their privacy. But there was an affair and overlap. They are really happy now.”
November – December 2024: Jackman & Foster Are Secretly Together
According to an insider who spilled the beans to Star via OK Magazine in late Nov 2024, Jackman and Foster have been keeping their romance on the down low to avoid humiliating Furness.
“They’ve been hiding their relationship from the outside world for so long, sneaking around, living apart, but there will come a time when they’ll want to come out as a couple,” an inside source claimed to the outlet. “Soon, they may start testing the waters.”
December 2024: Jackman & Foster Are Reportedly Waiting To Make Their Couple Debut
Jackman and Foster were reportedly planning to go public with their relationship but, as of December, opted to wait until backlash over their alleged affair dies down.
“They are a bit shocked by the backlash they received. They expected some of it, but not this much,” an insider told Closer Weekly. “But they’re figuring it out and are hopeful something can be worked out.”
