DWTS’ flustered host Julianne Hough gasps ‘oh no!’ as she’s mocked by audience after suffering three blunders in a row
DANCING With The Stars’ Julianne Hough proved she’s still finding her feet as a co-host as audience members laughed at her for suffering three mistakes during a taping.
The 35-year-old former dancer, who went braless in a skintight glittering dress for Whitney Houston night on Tuesday, didn’t always appear comfortable when the cameras weren’t rolling.
Julianne Hough was announced as Tyra Banks’s replacement alongside Alfonso Ribeiro back in August.
The host showed off her slim figure in a backless glittering silver dress for the show.
An eyewitness told The U.S. Sun Julianne joked with her co-host, actor Alfonso Ribeiro, about having sweaty palms earlier on in the show as she held on to her microphone.
“She was rubbing her palms and laughing with Alfonso about her hands being sweaty before the show began,” they said.
“Alfonso came across as a true pro during the live show, but it’s clear Julianne is still figuring things out, she seemed nervous.”
After the main show wrapped, Julianne and Alfonso were asked to shoot promo clips on the dancefloor for the live audience, which will be used for later episodes.
During filming, Julianne faced a number of mistakes, as a source said producers first asked for a hairstylist to run over and fix her blonde, fluffy tresses.
“Nobody was around and Alfonso began joking with the audience that they desperately needed someone to sort her hair out, as she laughed about it being stuck to her jeweled dress.”
Julianne then got flustered after delivering a sweeping hand motion during one clip of her talking, admitting to the audience: “I can’t believe I just did that.”
LIVE SHOW NERVES
As they read the autocue a second time for a different clip, Julianne repeated the motion, laughing: “Oh no! I just did it again,” while the audience chuckled at her.
“The live audience didn’t seem that impressed by her hosting and one even quipped, ‘Is she in an OxiClean commercial?’ which was a little embarrassing.”
It has been a big year for Julianne as she was announced as a co-host of DWTS in early August, replacing Tyra Banks.
While they do some segments together, Alfonso is typically on the dance floor with the contestants as the judges give their critiques.
Julianne is up in the skybox and interviews the couples after they’ve danced as the judges reveal their individual scores.
But not everyone has been impressed by Julianne’s hosting skills, with some viewers calling for her and her brother Derek, a judge on the show, to be given the boot.
One commenter wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Derek and Julianne gotta go. If you ain’t dancing, you ain’t doing it.
“Julianne is cringy as hell on the mic and Derek is delusional and weird on this Harry and Rylee showmance train. Bring back Tyra [Banks] and throw Louis Van Amstel in Derek’s spot. I’ve seen enough.”
MUSIC MISTAKE
Meanwhile, there were more blunders on camera during Tuesday’s show, with Billy Porter’s big opening ruined by technical difficulties.
The performer, 54, appeared to be miming a rendition of How Do I Know by the late great Whitney Houston, which a source told The U.S. Sun was pre-taped and filmed a number of times.
But as the segment played during the beginning of the live show, the track cut out more than once, which made it appear Billy had carried on despite the issue.
As viewers thought the moment was filmed live, one blasted on X: “I don’t like that s**t! Y’all mess up on @billyporter_‘s opening with that f’ed up microphone! Get that s**t fixed!”
A second said: “A disaster opening for #dwts in remembrance of Whitney Houston.”
Another social media user raged: “Okay how DARE they mess up Billy Porter’s intro song audio when he looks that fabulous?”
But Billy and the judges were sitting watching the moment as it played out, and it was unclear to the studio audience whether the audio had skipped just on the speakers or on the show itself.
Julianne seemed slightly nervous during the taping on Tuesday and joked about her sweaty palms.
Billy Porter also appeared as a judge during Whitney Houston night and suffered technical difficulties during his opening number.
Some viewers have expressed their frustration over Jualianne’s hosting skills.
