Outfielder Giancarlo Stanton recently signed a record-breaking contract extension lasting up to 13 years, worth $325 million, with the Miami Marlins Club in the American Major League Baseball.

This new deal surpasses two previous record signings in baseball. In March 2014, Miguel Cabrera reached a $291 million contract for ten years with the Detroit Tigers Club. Meanwhile, Alex Rodriguez won a ten-year contract worth $275 million with the York Yankees in 2008.
Stanton’s new contract is also worth more and lasts longer than the huge deals of some athletes in other sports. Boxer Floyd Mayweather pocketed $206 million thanks to a six-fight agreement over a 30-month period.
Basketball legend Kobe Bryant of the LA Lakers signed a seven-year contract worth $136 million in 2004. Soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid currently earns a salary of $52 million per season (plus about 28 million from advertising), but his contract is only for four years. Ice hockey star Alexander Ovechkin won a $124 million contract with the Washington Capitals Club at the age of 22, lasting from 2009 to 2021.
Earning a contract that broke many records, Stanton did not think he had won the lottery as some public opinion believed.
“People like to talk about a record-breaking contract in terms of money and deadlines, but I just want records on the field. I want to do big things in matches and that’s the most important thing to me,” Stanton said at the press conference.

The 25-year-old Californian star also said: “The contract I just signed is not a lottery ticket to win a special prize. It is just a new beginning for work and a new mission for this city. It also feels like a huge responsibility and I’m ready to take it on.”
The Miami Marlins are owned by art auctioneer Jeffrey Loria. The club hopes that Stanton’s performance will help heal any disagreements between the team and the many fans who are disappointed because they think the huge cost of paying the star’s salary and taxes should have been used. to build a new baseball field for the team.
Last season’s Miami Marlins only ranked 27th out of 30 teams in the American Major League Baseball (MLB), but still attracted about 21,000 spectators per game.
Giancarlo Stanton will play for the Miami Marlins until 2027, but he has the option to leave after six years. Joining the Marlins since 2007 and making his MLB debut in 2010, Stanton is now among the outstanding players in the American professional league.
Last season, he contributed greatly to helping the team win 37 home games to become the first player in Marlins history to receive the Hank Aaron award for best outfield player. He was twice named in the MLB all-star team in the 2012 and 2014 seasons.
