Travis Kelce is happy that All-Pro teammate Chris Jones is sticking around

Travis Kelce and the Chiefs will attempt to three-peat as NFL champions, and the tight end is thrilled that Kansas City will try to do so with defensive lynchpin Chris Jones still on the roster.

On Monday, Jones agreed to a massive five-year, $159million deal to remain with the team – ending any speculation that he could depart in free agency.

And Kelce celebrated that news on the latest episode of ‘New Heights’ with his brother Jason.

‘He wasn’t lying, Chiefs Kingdom, when he was on the f*****g stage… ‘I ain’t goin nowhere.” He’s still home, baby and I love him for it man,’ Kelce said.

During the team’s Super Bowl parade last month, the defensive tackle said, ‘I need three of those rings, baby, we ain’t done yet. Kansas City we will be back here next year. And for those who want Chris Jones gone, I ain’t going nowhere, baby!’

Jones has been a first-team All-Pro the last two seasons and has spent his entire eight-year career in Kansas City.

Still, Kelce admitted that he began to sweat whether Jones would re-sign with Kansas City.

‘It got a little shaky for me, I was like, ‘Is he gonna sign? What’s the hold up, what’s the hold up? Well, the holdup was being the highest-paid defensive lineman ever.’

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the 29-year-old is getting $101million  in guarantees.

And his $31.75million average salary makes him the highest-paid defensive tackle of all-time, surpassing Aaron Donald.

Travis and Jason also reacted to the news that the Chiefs had agreed to bring back linebacker Drue Tranquill on a reported three-year, $19million deal.

‘Drue Tranquill is one of my favorite f******g teammates, dog,’ Travis said. ‘He’s just a f*****g football player. You can put him anywhere.

‘He’s a pro’s pro, man. He sets the tempo of being locked in and getting better as a team, so that’s a huge one for our defense.

The recently-retired Jason added, ‘Love it when guys who are unselfish and do it all get paid some money.’

To help the Chiefs replenish their roster this offseason and gear up for another title defense, star quarterback Patrick Mahomes reportedly agreed to restructure his 10-year, $503million contract with the team.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Mahomes will be giving the Chiefs an additional $21.6million of cap space by re-working his deal.

In the same ‘New Heights’ episode, Travis joked about Kirk Cousins visiting Atlanta strip club Magic City after signing a $180million deal with the Falcons.
