Jerry Rice is the first player to ever coin the nickname the “G.O.A.T.,” which, as many of you know, means the greatest of all time. Sure, Tom Brady gets that nickname thrown around once in a while, as does Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, but Rice was the first to be called that.
And, if you look at some of his achievements, whether it be rings or stats, some of the things he has done seem unbreakable. And a lot of them were until Travis Kelce came around. The Chiefs have the G.O.A.T. of tight ends; despite what anyone else says, Kelce is the guy who is breaking all the records.
Now, he has a legit chance to break three of Jerry Rice’s postseason records.
Kelce can break Rice’s postseason records within the next few years
All-time postseason catches:
Rice 151
Kelce 145
All-time postseason touchdowns:
Rice 22
Kelce 18
All-time postseason yards:
Rice 2,245
Kelce 1,694
Rice is a guy who has almost every record you can think of for a wide receiver, which is what makes this even crazier – Kelce is a tight end doing these things. After the way Kelce played against the Buffalo Bills, showing that he still has a lot of juice left in the tank, I’d say it’s fair to say he could catch Rice on a few of these all-time records.
The Baltimore Ravens defense is a bit better than that of the Buffalo Bills, who had almost everyone in their linebacker room hurt. With guys like Patrick Queen and Roquan Smith, I can bet we will see a better game plan against Kelce on Sunday than we did last Sunday. However, Kelce is one of the all-time greats, which means he could very well still go off on Sunday.
