Retired Philadelphia Eagles center and franchise legend Jason Kelce has reportedly been contacted by WWE about an appearance for the show’s biggest event of the year.

According to a report from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, WWE has contacted Jason Kelce about potentially appearing at WrestleMania 40 this weekend. The two-night event will run on Saturday and Sunday inside the Eagles’ home venue of Lincoln Financial Field.

It’s not uncommon for WWE to bring in big-named athletes for marquee events like the WrestleMania pay-per-view.

Then-New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski was used for a confrontation with Jinder Mahal at WrestleMania 33 seven years ago, with “Gronk” helping close friend Mojo Rawley win the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

And of course, New York Giants legend and Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor faced the late Bam Bam Bigelow in the main event of WrestleMania 11 in a winning effort.

Kelce spent his entire 13-year playing career with the Eagles, announcing his retirement in a press conference last month. The seven-time Pro Bowler and six-time First-team All-Pro led Philadelphia to a Super Bowl 52 championship in the 2017 season.

WrestleMania 40 has 13 matches on the card, with Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship headlining day two of the event.

Jason Kelce Has Plenty Of Post-NFL Career Options

Like the aforementioned Rob Gronkowski, Jason Kelce is tremendously popular because of his humor and outgoing personality. Since his retirement, it has been widely reported that TV networks will pursue Kelce for a broadcast gig.

Travis and Jason Kelce continue to run their beloved “New Heights” podcast that draws millions of viewers. Jason remains busy with that, but a career in sports entertainment or broadcasting of some sort awaits him if he’d like to go that route.

We’ll find out in the coming days if Jason indeed makes an appearance at WrestleMania 40.
