The View‘s Whoopi Goldberg has slammed ‘toxically masculine’ men who have been getting riled up by Taylor swift getting screen time at her boyfriend Travis Kelce‘s NFL games.
Goldberg and her ABC co-host Joy Behar discussed the baffling obsession with the star in Wednesday’s edition of their show, asking football fans why they are ‘so p***ed’.
Swift has become a fixture of NFL broadcasts’ attention – but has also received criticism from people who feel her presence is ruining their viewing experience.
The View’s hosts took aim at the critics, with Goldberg, 68, saying: ‘What are you so p***ed about?
‘Why are you so mad? There is so, so many things to be angry at in this world. Why are these men toxically masculine?’

Goldberg’s co-host Joy Behar added that these ‘toxically masculine’ men should ‘go get a shrink’

Behar encouraged those taking issue with Swift’s appearances during NFL matches to seek professional help.
The 81-year-old said: ‘These guys need some therapy, go get a shrink! I mean, they don’t consider it masculine to be in therapy.
‘It is not about masculine [or] feminine, it is about your brain, and so they need some help, and that’s why I feel sorry for them.’
Another of the show’s faces, Sara Haines, wondered that some people’s issue was that the NFL had been a ‘no girls allowed’ environment, which the immensely successful singer had shattered in a way that some found ‘very uncomfortable’.
‘Here comes Taylor Swift. She has more money – therefore, more power. She’s more famous, and she’s coming in to see her boyfriend in his home,’ Haines added.
Sonny Hostin called the vocal viewers who get upset by Swift at NFL fixtures a ‘weirdo group’ saying that she saw nothing wrong with the Cruel Summer vocalist supporting her significant other.
Very similar language was used by FOX Sports analyst Colin Cowherd in a rant where he blasted critics as he rubbished their complaints.
In the near-four-minute tirade he said: ‘There’s a lot of really weird, lonely, insecure men out there.
‘The fact that a pop star, the world’s biggest pop star, is dating a star tight end who had one of his greatest games ever [in the AFC Championship game], and a network puts them on the air briefly, that it bothers you. What does that say about your life?’
He went on to debunk the ‘I just want to watch football’ defence, saying that in an average three and a half hour NFL broadcast, just 18 minutes of ‘actual football’ will be shown.
That was not the only statistic Cowherd had up his sleeve.
He continued: ‘Listen to this. The New York Times measured how long she was actually on the broadcast. Do you know how long it is? On average? 25 seconds. In three and a half hours. Against the Ravens, it was up to a whopping 32 seconds. It was 14 [for] Chiefs and Raiders on Christmas. Twelve [for] Chiefs and Bengals, 24 seconds [for] Buffalo-Kansas City.
‘She was on for a minute against the Dolphins. But it was an absolutely awful broadcast. They should have had a concert in the middle of it. That would have been more interesting. And why wouldn’t CBS, which, you know, has the Grammys, cross promote the world’s biggest pop star?‘And we have the data, we have the numbers. You don’t turn away. There’s coaches cutaways. They show fans in Buffalo on fire. Commercials, reviews, 18 minutes of real football for the record, about the length of five Taylor Swift songs.’
Cowherd then pointed out that stars like Matthew McConaughey, Drake, Spike Lee, Eminem, and Jack Nicholson are shown on television at sporting events all the time without complaints from the audience.
‘But a talented and beautiful woman is on the air, one who would never pay attention to lonely men, and it bothers them.’
Fox sports analyst Colin Cowherd went on an explosive rant against men complaining about the pop star, calling them ‘weird, lonely and insecure’
Swift has been a lightning rod for angry men who are mad that she’s on their televisions since her relationship with Kelce went public
The tight end is headed to the Super Bowl to take on the 49ers in Las Vegas
He continued: ‘There’s a stat out there – it’s kind of uncomfortable for you sad guys – that 50 per cent of men never have real intimacy with a woman. That means the other 50 per cent have multiple intimate relationships with women.
‘And those ones that don’t are angry and sad and lonely. And they are often misogynistic and resent women who didn’t give them the time they think they deserve.
‘We celebrate all these goofballs jumping on tables in Buffalo and cheese hats [in Green Bay]… and Matthew McConaughey and Drake and Jack Nicholson… and it’s cool…
‘A young, attractive, beautiful, talented woman comes on for 25 seconds and you’re bothered again. Judge people by the silly things that bother them.
‘This anger, this says nothing about Taylor Swift. It says everything about the men bothered by it.’
Swift will likely be on view again next weekend on February 11, as she is expected to attend Super Bowl LVIII – where Kelce and the Chiefs will be playing the San Francisco 49ers.
