Drew Brees is paying homage to Jason Kelce in commendable fashion.
Brees is a co-owner of Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux, and he announced on Saturday that the restaurant chain will award scholarships to 13 student athletes around the country who are walk-ons.
It’s an ode to Kelce in multiple ways.

Kelce just recently announced that he’s retiring from the NFL after 13 seasons, and he was formerly a walk-on at Cincinnati before starring for the Eagles his entire professional career.
“We love to celebrate the heart and the hustle of the underdogs,” Brees said in an announcement video posted on Instagram. “Just like our founder Brandon Landry, walk-on basketball player for the LSU Tigers, my brother, Reid Brees, walk-on baseball player at Baylor University, part of the College World Series team there.
“And the NFL’s very own, Jason Kelce. First off, big congratulations to Jason Kelce on an extraordinary 13-year NFL career. From his days as a college walk-on at Cincinnati to becoming one of the most highly-respected names in the NFL, Jason’s journey has been nothing short of incredible.
In honor of Jason Kelce’s retirement and his 13 remarkable seasons, we at Walk-Ons are offering this heartfelt tribute. We are awarding 13 scholarships to college walk-on athletes across the country. These scholarships represent more than just financial aid. They’re a salute to the relentless spirit and the unwavering dedication that drives athletes to excel, mirroring the qualities that Jason Kelce showcased throughout his career.
“Jason, your legacy transcends the gridiron. It’s about the heart, the unyielding perseverance, and the deep belief in one’s potential. With this initiative, your inspirational spirit will continue to guide and motivate future generations. Thank you, and here’s to the spirit of the walk-on.”

Kelce, a seven time Pro Bowler and six-time First-Team All-Pro, was emotional when announcing his retirement earlier in the week.
“It took a lot of hard work and determination getting here,” Kelce said. “I have been the underdog my entire career, and I mean this when I say this, I wish I still was.”
