It’s a tick tock conundrum for a TikTok world. As Travis Kelce’s number one fan Taylor Swift is expected to be there cheering him on when the Kansas City Chiefs play against the Ravens in Baltimore this Sunday.

Certainly, since her first appearance at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium last September, Swift, 34, has not been shy about using her private jet to attend her NFL boyfriend’s games.

But, come Super Bowl LVIII, Swift will be at the end of a four-day stint at the Tokyo Dome.

It’s a 40-minute drive from the Tokyo Dome to Narita for mere mortals but Swift doesn’t need to worry about stop signs or traffic signals.

Similarly flying private means she doesn’t have to worry about pesky TSA security so, with the wind behind her, Swift could be boarding her jet around 1am local time, 8am Vegas time.

After a roughly 13-hour flight, Swift could touch down at Harry Reid International Airport, Las Vegas around 9pm Saturday February 10.

A dizzying schedule, but plenty of time to sleep off any jet lag and be in the VIP box alongside her new BFF Brittany Mahomes, 28, putative sister-in-law Kylie Kelce, 31, a possibly shirtless Jason, 36, and Kelce’s parents Donna, 71, and Ed, 72, in time for the game which starts 3.30pm PCT Sunday February 11.

The couple ushered in a new year but vowing to spend the rest of their lives together.

The anonymous creator of the Deux Moi podcast broke the news of what she called a secret ‘engagement.’ last week, claiming that a trusted source told her: ‘Taylor and Travis got engaged 12/31. They did it just the two of them alone before that party they were photographed at.’.

But the loved up couple are not ready to make it official yet.

“They’ve got a special chemistry,” Reid said. “I experienced it with Brett (Favre) and (Sterling) Sharpe, I mean they were phenomenal together and then I experienced it with T.O. (Terrell Owens) and Donovan (McNabb), they were great together. DeSean Jackson stepped in and that chemistry there with Jeremy (Maclin) and then come here and these guys develop this chemistry. It’s been — I’ve been fortunate to be around that, but it’s hard to explain why and how these guys connect like that but they do. They both have great feel for the game and then they have a great feel for what the other one sees and is going to do in a very short time span.”

Reid has used the word “special” when referring to the Mahomes-Kelce duo before. In fact, he did it less than a week ago when the two broke a record for the most postseason touchdowns between any quarterback-receiver combo in NFL history. Reid, who’s been around for Kelce’s entire career, knows how beneficial having Mahomes is for him.

It’s also well-documented just how much Kelce can help Mahomes, too. Since Mahomes took over for Alex Smith as the Chiefs’ full-time starter, the pairing with Kelce has cemented itself as the NFL’s best. It rivals duos like Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski, Joe Montana and Jerry Rice, Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison and many others. According to Mahomes, it all comes down to wanting to win.

“I think it’s just at the end of the day, we want to compete,” Mahomes said. “We want to go out there and win. We don’t care how it’s done, we don’t care if we have a lot of yards, a lot of touchdowns we just want to win. You can see that when you hear him talk, it’s about everyone’s success not just his. I respect that. Like I said, he was here before I got here, so I could see that from day one when I stepped in the building. When you have a bunch of guys that really want to win no matter what it takes, no matter who gets the shine, that’s when you get the great football teams.”

Mahomes and Kelce are no strangers to showing up big-time against AFC opponents en route to the Super Bowl. In the 2019 season’s Divisional Round, Mahomes threw for 321 yards and five touchdowns and Kelce hauled in 10 passes for 134 yards and three scores against the Houston Texans. Current Chiefs safety Justin Reid was on that Houston team, and that game is still fresh in his mind. He’s happy to be heading into battle with Mahomes and Kelce instead of playing against them.

“It’s a hell of a lot more fun to play with them than it is to play against them, that’s first and foremost,” Reid said. “When I was with Houston, we played against Travis and it’s just a tough matchup. Those guys are both so cerebral and smart, played a lot of football and their chemistry is at a level where they’re able to create a lot of routes to where it is almost impossible to defend. You’re playing along with what you see on the tape and when you get to the game and see the same formation, and they do something different based off what they see and they’re able to get the ball to each other. It’s truly a dynamic and special relationship that those two have, both on the field and off the field. Like I said, it’s a lot more fun to be on this side of it than being the guy to defend it.”

Legacies, not just the opportunity to spend a week in Las Vegas, are in play during this NFL conference championship weekend, and no one feels that pressure more than Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.

He would have an impeccable list of accolades with a Super Bowl win. Before he can get to that point, Jackson has an AFC championship game date on Sunday afternoon with one of the better coordinators in the league, the Kansas City Chiefs’ Steve Spagnuolo, who pulls the strings on an immensely talented defense.

For the first time in the Patrick Mahomes era, the Chiefs’ defense arguably was the reason why they made it to the playoffs in the first place. According to RBSDM.com, the Chiefs were sixth in expected points allowed per play (-0.076) and fourth in success rate (39.8%). Beyond their personnel, Spagnuolo’s willingness to run a diverse brand of defense has allowed KC to flourish. According to Sports Info Solutions, the Chiefs saw the sixth most passing attempts in blitzing situations (178) and ranked fifth in expected points allowed (-0.25) per passing attempt where they blitzed.

“Whatever you’re going to run, you better have the answers for what they’re going to give you,” Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken told reporters on Thursday.

Changing the looks from week to week has allowed the Chiefs to be a difficult defense to play against, but Jackson is a tough test as well. He is arguably playing the best football of his career and just solved the puzzle of the blitz-happy Texans last week, completing 13 of his 18 passing attempts for 120 yards and two touchdowns, a whopping 75% of his dropbacks for the game. Don’t expect the Chiefs to blitz at that rate — the Chiefs’ highest blitz percentage in a game this season was 48.6% against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 12, according to the NFL’s Next Gen Stats.

Jackson isn’t always the cleanest player against the blitz, but the recent sample size may suggest he’s started to figure out how to be a productive player in these high-pressure circumstances.

While the Chiefs excel in situations where they blitz, they’re also strong against the pass when they don’t blitz as well. According to the NFL’s Next Gen Stats, Kansas City ranks eighth in expected points allowed per dropback (-0.13) when it doesn’t blitz. The Chiefs have one of the best cornerback duos in the league with L’Jarius Sneed and Trent McDuffie, and a talented defensive line that can get after the passer. All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones headlines their front four, but defensive ends George Karlaftis and Charles Omenihu are plus defenders in their own right.

This is a tougher test than the Texans last week, no doubt. Scoring against the Chiefs is far easier said than done, but if there is ever going to be a player up for this task (not named Mahomes), it’s Jackson. He has the supporting cast, scheme and individual talent to counter some of the punches the Chiefs will throw. They probably will need to get off to a faster start than the 10 points they scored in the first half last week. Even Monken admitted as much, saying Thursday, “I don’t know where we rank, but we’ve been pretty good at starting [fast]. We’ve had some games not so much, but [we were] trying to get Lamar off to a fast start and us off to a fast start.”

But the second half of the Ravens’ win over the Texans showed they have answers for a defense that’s throwing the kitchen sink. It’ll take a fully operational program this week from start to finish.

If the Ravens can keep Jackson upright and Jackson himself can avoid some of the bad fumbles that he’s prone to in compressed pockets, they’ll have a good chance to put points on the board. This is still an offense that’s run by a likely two-time MVP, so the Ravens should feel good about their chances to score against anybody. There’s one more step for Jackson to reach his first Super Bowl — and it’s a big one.
