It has not been the smoothest preparation for Mahomes so far.

The quarterback’s father, 53, was arrested by the Tyler Police Department on at least his third DWI on Saturday night in Texas.

He is being held on a $10,000 bond. Mahomes Sr., who is a 6’4 former professional baseball pitcher, is currently in custody at the Smith County Jail.

Mahomes Sr. has been arrested a total of six times for driving while intoxicated, according to public booking records – twice in 2012, twice in 2018, once in 2019, and now once in 2024.

On his DWI charge in 2018, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 40 days in county jail on weekends during 2019 and 2020.

After two DWI convictions in Texas, the third DWI offense is classed as a third degree felony. The maximum fine is $10,000, and the maximum prison sentence is 10 years in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice penitentiary.

Also featuring in the collection of pictures was star running back Isiah Pacheco, who is set to play in his second Super Bowl in just two years as a professional player. Kicker Harrison Butker also posed.

Then there were defensive stars Chris Jones, Justin Reid and L’Jarius Sneed, who will have a tough afternoon in store as they attempt to shut down the 49ers’ star-studded offense.

The Chiefs and 49ers will officially kick off the festivities on Monday night at Allegiant Stadium when they meet with thousands of media members from across the globe.

The event is open to fans who purchased tickers and it’ll be the first and only public appearance this week for every player and coach from the two teams.

They’ll field questions ranging from serious to silly. They’ll be asked to discuss personal topics and to participate in goofy skits.

‘It’s exciting. It’s all exciting stuff,’ Kelce said.

‘It builds and sets the tone for the whole week. It’s the biggest stage in the world.

‘Monday night is going to be where it starts for everybody. At this point, I just love it, it’s an exciting time.

‘It’s a once-in-a-lifetime type of thing that I’ve been able to enjoy a few times.’

Mets players thought little Pat Mahomes was Amazin

The superstar quarterback’s dad, Pat Mahomes Sr., pitched for the Mets in the playoff years of 1999 and 2000, and the future Super Bowl champ was a fixture at Shea Stadium as a tyke.

“There’s so many good memories about that little kid.

Now he’s the all-time quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs,” said former Mets outfielder Benny Agbayani from his home in Hawaii.

“I thought he was going to become a baseball player because of his dad.”

Agbayani, 52, recalled a “friendly, fearless” Little Pat clad in his own Mets jersey acting like he belonged with the big leaguers.

“He wasn’t scared. He just went out there and tried to be like us: catching fly balls, chasing down the balls, catching the ground balls and he did pretty good at his age. I was wondering, ‘Whose kid was this?’ And they said it was Pat’s. When I saw Pat I said, ‘Dude, you have somebody special.’”

Little Pat was inquisitive and would ask how high a fly ball traveled and how far it went over the fence, Agbayani said. “He had that IQ for the game.”

The ex-Met said father and son Mahomes were alike in their fierce desire. “He plays to win. You can see that [now] in his body language and his eyes. It’s awesome watching him, this little kid who grew up and now he’s playing in the NFL.”

Todd Zeile, who played first base for the Mets in 2000, 2001 and 2004, said the now “phenomenal talent” used to play tape ball with his son Garrett, and “was fascinated with first base and wanted to take a look at the big gloves.”New York Post

Agbayani marveled at Little Pat’s arm — “he had that technique” — and the boy’s strength. “Our bats were pretty heavy [some were 33 ounces] and he would try to swing it. He just wanted to be a part of us and it was great.”

Zeile said the ballplayers’ kids enjoyed dodgeball in the clubhouse and would get excited during batting practice, “because that was their playtime.” One highlight was the kids stretching with their dads on the field at Yankee Stadium before Game 1 of the 2000 World Series.

Reliever John Franco recalled Little Pat “had a pretty good arm” and used to “play games in the batting cage” and shag fly balls with his son, JJ.

Franco, who was inducted in the Mets Hall of Fame in 2012, said Patrick inherited his father’s passion and athleticism.

“Big Pat was a great athlete. He was a competitor, man and he pitched some big innings for us in 1999 and 2000. He always took the ball.”

Mets reliever Turk Wendell, known for his gutsy pitching and superstitions, including brushing his teeth between innings and slamming the rosin bag into the mound before facing batters, remembers young Mahomes as a “wiry, funny little kid” who liked to run around the clubhouse with the other boys.

Agbayani said the “sky was the limit” had Mahomes, (pictured above), opted to play baseball.Getty Images

Wendell remembers Pat Sr. once told him, ” ‘Man, I don’t know what to do with my kid. He won’t go to sleep. He wants to stay up all night long.’ I joked around with him afterwards, ‘He’s probably watching game film.’”

Agbayani, who drove in the winning run of Game 3 of the 2000 World Series vs. the Yankees, said the “sky’s the limit” as to what Little Pat could have accomplished if he had become a baseball player.

That said, Agbayani won’t be rooting for Mahomes on Sunday.

“Sorry, I’m a big Niners fan for a long, long time,” the ex-Met laughed.

  • Tom Brady names Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen as the next quarterback to win his first Super Bowl with one big thing standing in his way… Patrick Mahomes!

Tom Brady names Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen as the next quarterback to win his first Super Bowl with one big thing standing in his way… Patrick Mahomes!

Former NFL quarterback Tom Brady named Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen as his pick for the next signal caller to win his first Super Bowl.

Allen has never played in a Super Bowl. His time as the Bills starting quarterback has come with a lot of success. Buffalo has been to five straight postseasons and won the AFC East each of the last four years.

Yet, Brady warns of Patrick Mahomes being in Allen’s way of winning a Super Bowl, as the Kansas City Chiefs have eliminated the Bills from the postseason three of the last four years.

Each of the last three seasons have ended for Buffalo in the AFC Divisional round as part of the NFL’s final eight teams last standing.

The closest Allen has gotten to a Super Bowl was the 2020 season. Kansas City defeated Buffalo 38-24 in the AFC Championship game to end the 27-year-old’s championship dreams.

Allen was named by Brady as the next quarterback to win a Super Bowl that hasn’t already

Brady won seven Super Bowls in his time in the NFL with the Patriots and Buccaneers

‘I like Josh Allen a lot,’ Brady said on the DeepCut Podcast of who would be the next first-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback.

‘I’d pick Josh. I like Josh a lot as a guy, as a leader. But, you know, he’s got to get past the Chiefs and that’s hard because Patrick’s incredible in the way he leads that team,’ Brady added.

The Allen-Mahomes rivalry also produced the January 2022 instant classic that prompted the NFL to change its overtime rules for the playoffs, allowing each team at least one possession without a time limit.

The latest matchup between Mahomes and Allen was this past season, when the Chiefs defeated the Bills in the Divisional round in Buffalo with Taylor Swift in attendance.

Allen himself has made headlines for his celebrity girlfriend, Oscar-nominated actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld.
