Jason Kelce opens up about the highs and lows of fame, revealing why it’s both a blessing and a burden

The Blessings and Burdens of Fame: Jason Kelce’s Perspective

For over a decade, Jason Kelce has been a mainstay on the Philadelphia Eagles offensive line, establishing himself as one of the best centers in the NFL. His accomplishments on the field have brought him fame and recognition from Eagles fans and football fans across the country. However, with fame comes both blessings and burdens that Kelce has had to navigate throughout his career. While his celebrity status has provided financial security and a platform to advocate for causes, it has also meant increased scrutiny, pressure to perform, and a loss of privacy in his personal life. As Kelce enters his mid-30s and ponders how much longer he wants to continue playing, he has gained valuable perspective on both the rewards and challenges that come with being a famous athlete.

One of the clear blessings of fame for Kelce is the recognition and adulation he receives from Eagles fans and the city of Philadelphia. Growing up just outside of Philadelphia, Kelce has lived out his dream of having a long, successful career with his hometown team. “It’s awesome to play for the city and fans that I grew up watching and rooting for,” Kelce said. Wherever he goes in Philadelphia, fans recognize him and express their appreciation for his contributions to the Eagles over the past decade. This level of recognition is gratifying for any athlete and confirms that all the hard work and sacrifices Kelce has made to stay at an elite level are appreciated. The respect he garners from teammates, coaches, and others around the league also serves as a source of pride and validation for everything he has achieved on the gridiron.

In addition to the admiration of others, Kelce’s fame has also brought significant financial benefits. As one of the top centers in the NFL for many years, Kelce has earned over $50 million in salary alone during his career according to Spotrac. This level of earning power is life-changing and has provided Kelce and his family financial security that most people will never experience. “Being able to provide for my family long after I’m done playing is a blessing I don’t take for granted,” Kelce said. The money from his NFL contracts has allowed Kelce to invest in real estate, start a few small businesses, and set himself up for long-term success well into retirement from football. Endorsement deals and other sponsorship opportunities stemming from his celebrity have added to Kelce’s wealth as well. While fame does not guarantee riches, in Kelce’s case it has certainly led to financial benefits that will last for generations.

In addition to financial gains, Kelce’s status as a famous NFL star has given him a prominent platform to advocate for causes important to him. Always outspoken, Kelce has used his celebrity to bring attention to issues like veterans’ mental health, equal rights, and protecting the environment. “I feel an obligation to use the platform the NFL has given me to try and make positive change in areas I’m passionate about,” Kelce said. For example, after experiencing depression and anxiety himself following two Super Bowl wins, Kelce became vocal about destigmatizing mental health issues among current and former players. His openness about his own struggles encouraged many others to get help and pushed the league to improve support systems. Kelce also marched and fundraised during the Black Lives Matter protests of 2020 to advocate for racial justice reforms. Leveraging his fame to amplify important messages is personally fulfilling for Kelce and has the potential to create real impact.

However, Kelce’s fame has also brought significant burdens and challenges he has had to navigate carefully throughout his career. Perhaps the most difficult aspect for Kelce has been losing privacy and having his every move scrutinized. As one of Philadelphia’s most prominent sports figures, it can be difficult for Kelce to go out in public without being recognized or having his picture taken. Fans and media members follow his social media accounts closely and dissect everything he posts. Even seemingly mundane activities like going to the grocery store or getting coffee become public events. “It can definitely be draining at times to never truly feel like you have moments to yourself,” Kelce admitted. While he appreciates the support of Eagles fans, the constant lack of anonymity has taken some adjustment over the years.

Along with scrutiny of his personal life, Kelce has also felt immense pressure to perform at an elite level on the field every Sunday. As the leader of the Eagles offensive line, any mistake or below-average performance is magnified and dissected ad nauseam on sports talk radio and television. Fans have high—sometimes unrealistic—expectations of perfection from star players. Several subpar games in a row can result in questions about whether age is catching up to Kelce or if he has already declined from his Pro Bowl peak. “The expectations and criticism when you don’t meet them can weigh on you mentally,” Kelce acknowledged. While he has generally thrived under pressure, a few down seasons in the latter stages of his career only amplified the pressure further. Maintaining emotional and mental resilience against this backdrop is a continual challenge.

Naturally, with the intense scrutiny also comes harsh criticism, especially when mistakes are made. A bad snap, holding penalty, or missed block becomes the headline on sports websites and talk shows. Overly critical fans take to social media with personal insults and calls for Kelce to be benched. While he tries to avoid reading negative commentary, it can be impossible to tune out completely. Several notable on-field errors over the years have resulted in vitriolic reactions from some fans that questioned not just Kelce’s performance but his character and work ethic as well. Even minor controversies off the field like traffic violations or disagreements with coaches often blow up into national stories. The intense public criticism and pressure to be perfect has undoubtedly taken a mental toll at times throughout Kelce’s long career in Philadelphia.

Perhaps the perfect example of how fame can cut both ways for Kelce came during the Eagles’ Super Bowl run in the 2017 season. After a last-second victory in the NFC Championship game, cameras caught Kelce giving an impassioned speech to his teammates. His raw emotion and colorful language went viral on social media. While many fans loved Kelce’s fiery passion, the video also attracted significant backlash. He was criticized in some circles for his language and faced questions about whether it created a bad image for the team. However, Kelce’s speech ultimately helped galvanize the Eagles and became a iconic moment in franchise history after they went on to win the Super Bowl. It showed how fame allows moments to be magnified for both praise and scrutiny.

As Kelce contemplates retirement in the next year or two, he has gained valuable perspective on fame’s double-edged sword after over a decade in the NFL spotlight. While the financial security, fan adulation, and platform for advocacy have been blessings, the loss of privacy, pressure to perform, and public criticism have also taken their toll. However, Kelce believes the rewards have generally outweighed the downsides. “I wouldn’t change anything about my career, even with all the attention and scrutiny,” he said. “To be able to win a Super Bowl for this city and organization has been worth it.” Looking back, Kelce is proud that he has generally handled fame with grace and used his platform for good. And when he does finally step away from football, he will do so with gratitude for all the blessings an NFL career has brought him, fame included.

Jason Kelce’s candid reflections on staying true to himself despite the spotlight glare offer valuable insights into authenticity

    ## Jason Kelce: Staying Honest in the Spotlight

Jason Kelce has become one of the most beloved figures in Philadelphia sports due to his relentless passion, toughness, and authentic personality. As the veteran center of the Philadelphia Eagles, Kelce has anchored the offensive line and helped lead the team to Super Bowl glory. However, beyond his accomplishments on the field, Kelce stands out for his ability to stay true to himself while thriving under immense pressure and public scrutiny. Through embracing his imperfections, prioritizing relationships, maintaining his sense of humor, and staying grounded, Kelce has navigated fame with honesty, humility, and perspective.

    ### Embracing Imperfection

From an early age, Kelce exhibited the self-awareness and courage to acknowledge his flaws. Growing up in a competitive athletic family in Cleveland, Ohio, Kelce faced high expectations but also struggled with anxiety and doubts in his ability. Rather than hiding these vulnerabilities, Kelce has been openly about his mental health journey. He discusses battling depression and anxiety even after achieving success in the NFL.

This transparency is refreshing in the hyper-masculine culture of professional sports. Kelce challenges stereotypes by admitting he sees a sports psychologist and takes medication for his conditions. His willingness to share struggles has resonated deeply with fans, creating a sense of empathy and connection. It demonstrates emotional intelligence for Kelce to embrace imperfections that many elite athletes try to mask.

Kelce also readily acknowledges physical limitations and areas for improvement. After a disappointing rookie season where he lacked strength and experience, Kelce dedicated himself to improving his technique and strength in order to earn a starting role. Even now as a veteran, Kelce is self-critical and welcomes coaching. His humility and self-awareness are admirable qualities that have helped him maximize his potential through hard work and dedication to constant growth.

    ### Prioritizing Relationships

While football is Kelce’s profession, he emphasizes that his most important roles are as a husband and father. He frequently credits his wife, Kylie, and their two young children for keeping him grounded and focused on what truly matters. Even after achieving his dream of winning a Super Bowl, Kelce says becoming a dad was the greatest accomplishment of his life.

Kelce makes spending quality time with his family off the field a priority, even during the grueling season. He wants to be present for all the meaningful moments large and small. This commitment to his core relationships helps Kelce maintain perspective when pressures from the sport intensify. His tight family bonds provide an anchor and support system that allow him to better handle challenges.

Kelce also prioritizes staying connected to close friends from his childhood and college days. He makes an effort to keep these genuine friendships that predate his fame. These people see Kelce for who he is beneath the spotlight and keep him humble by reminding him of his roots. Maintaining a sense of normalcy through treasured relationships has allowed Kelce to avoid becoming isolated or letting his identity be defined solely by his profession.

    ### Embracing Humor

Kelce’s quick wit and infectious sense of humor are defining traits that have made him a fan favorite. He uses humor to connect with audiences, lighten intense situations, and even deflect attention away from himself at times. Kelce’s comedic timing and ability to find humor in adversity are assets that have served him well on and off the field.

Kelce’s most viral moments often showcase his humor, such as his passionate Super Bowl parade speech where he famously declared, “We calling out everybody! We calling out every political figure out there! We coming after you! Because guess what? We know everybody wanna be here!” His delivery and ability to poke fun at himself in the moment entertained millions.

Kelce’s humor has also helped him navigate challenges with levity. After a disappointing playoff loss, he joked to reporters “Don’t worry, we’ll be back… hopefully with a better performance from the O-line.” His lighthearted self-deprecation in a serious situation defused tensions and demonstrated emotional intelligence. Kelce’s comedic talents have made him one of the most entertaining athletes to follow and given fans an inside look at his personality.

    ### Speaking with Conviction

While embracing humor, Kelce also takes his platform seriously and is not afraid to speak out about issues he is passionate about. He uses his visibility to advocate for social justice reforms and promote positive change. Kelce has been outspoken on topics like inequality, police brutality, and the importance of voting rights.

After the murder of George Floyd, Kelce gave an impassioned speech calling for systemic change and justice. He acknowledged his own privilege as a white male but made clear that change was needed to rectify deep-rooted inequities. Kelce has continued advocating for marginalized groups and raising awareness through his platform. He understands the responsibility that comes with his influence and does not hesitate to use his voice for causes beyond the game.

Kelce also advocates for causes close to home like supporting the local fire department and donating to community organizations in Philadelphia. He strives to give back through time, funds, and visibility whenever possible. These efforts demonstrate Kelce’s commitment extends beyond just playing football – he wants to leave a positive impact and be remembered for more than just his on-field accomplishments.

    ### Embracing the Journey

Rather than obsessively chasing accolades and external validation, Kelce embraces the journey of his career and life with gratitude. He focuses on living fully in each moment and enjoying the ride, knowing nothing lasts forever in sports. Kelce’s perspective allows him to handle both success and failure with grace, humility, and perspective.

After winning a Super Bowl, many athletes struggle with fulfilling that pinnacle achievement. But Kelce reiterated the joy was in the journey with his teammates and the lifelong memories created along the way. He appreciates each opportunity and experience for what it offers rather than only the destination. This mindset has helped Kelce avoid burnout and savor even challenging seasons.

Kelce also learns from both victories and losses. After disappointments, he reflects on lessons that can improve his game rather than dwelling in the past. And he celebrates teammates’ successes just as much as his own. This ability to find gratitude and growth in every outcome demonstrates Kelce’s emotional maturity and capacity for living fully in the present. His journey perspective serves as an inspiration.

    ### Staying Grounded in Philadelphia

Despite achieving fame and fortune, Kelce has remained fiercely loyal to and immersed in his Philadelphia community. He still makes his offseason home in the same neighborhood where he grew up just outside the city. Kelce frequently visits his old high school and interacts with local fans, always taking time for photos and autographs no matter how busy his schedule.

Kelce also participates heavily in Philadelphia community events and youth sports programs. He strives to give back through his time, presence and support. These efforts remind Kelce of where he came from as a blue-collar kid from Cleveland embracing his underdog story. His Philadelphia roots keep him grounded and humble amidst success.

Interacting regularly with local fans and families provides Kelce perspective beyond the glitz of professional athletics. He sees firsthand the impact he can make through encouragement and role modeling responsible values like hard work and perseverance. Kelce’s commitment to his Philadelphia community demonstrates how he has stayed true to his upbringing while achieving fame.

In an era where authenticity is often lacking, Jason Kelce stands out as an inspiring role model through his honesty, humor, and down-to-earth approach to life. By embracing imperfections, prioritizing relationships, maintaining perspective through difficult times, and staying grounded in Philadelphia, Kelce has navigated fame with grace and connection. He serves as an example of how living with intention, values and community focus allows success to be truly fulfilling. Kelce’s journey demonstrates the power of embracing life’s ups and downs with empathy, courage and humor.

The Lakers face a familiar foe in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs and defeating them will be no easy feat. But even knowing the battles to come, Anthony Davis says the Lakers’ mindset is of total fearlessness coming into the highly anticipated series.

“If they beat us, they beat us,” Anthony Davis told The Athletic. “We’re not ducking the smoke.”

Around the NBA, there’s been a growing movement that says teams should try to arrange a certain first-round match-up to tip the odds in their favor. The Cleveland Cavaliers, for example, practically threw their final game of the regular season to ensure a matchup against the Orlando Magic.

Many fans and experts tried to argue that the Lakers should employ this same strategy to avoid the Denver Nuggets this season and get a more favorable opponent — but it’s too late to change it now. The matchups are already set and the Lakers will be starting their playoff journey against arguably the best team in the league, who they’ve lost 9 straight games to.

Meanwhile, the Nuggets are casually hosting watch parties as they prepare for the opening round. While the Nuggets are making sure not to underestimate the Lakers, Michael Malone expressed confidence that his team could keep the streak going when it matters most. On Saturday, the Lakers will be put to the test to see if they stand any chance against a ghost from their past.

Regardless of recent history, however, the Lakers are coming into this series with a clean slate and they aren’t ready to roll over now. If they can steal a game or two on the road, the Lakers fan set the tone early and send a message to the Nuggets that this is a new year.

Do The Lakers Have A Chance Against Denver?

At full strength, we’ve seen what the Lakers can do with LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the way. And while the last few seasons have been rough going, the Lakers still have what most teams do not: two top-10 players who have already won a championship together.

Of course, the x-factor for the Lakers will be D’Angelo Russell. His shooting is notoriously streaky but he’ll need to be on his game for the Lakers to have a shot in this series. With D’Lo at his best, it unlocks a new level of potency in the Lakers’ offense that makes them extremely hard to beat.

Last season, these teams clashed in the third round and they were on very different trajectories. The Nuggets were in the middle of a dominant playoff run while the Lakers were lucky to be alive after needing the play-in to advance.

This season, while the scales are slightly more evenly balanced, the Lakers are still outmatched in almost every way and the only path for them to win is through a historic performance from one of their two two superstars.

No matter what happens this post-season, the Lakers will go out fighting and they will not cower from any opponent that stands in their way. The same can be said of the Nuggets, who have already shown they can beat any team in the league.

Jason Kelce shares his thoughts on the ‘most exciting’ football player he’s ever played alongside. Who could it be? Find out here!

Jason Kelce: A Career Defined by Teammates in Philadelphia

Jason Kelce spent his entire 12-year NFL career with the Philadelphia Eagles after being drafted by the team in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. Over that span, Kelce developed into one of the best centers in the league and a stalwart of the Eagles’ offensive line. But Kelce’s success was never just an individual effort – it was a product of the strong relationships and chemistry he built with his teammates in Philadelphia. Throughout his career, Kelce expressed great admiration for several of those teammates who helped him achieve so much both on and off the field.

    Fellow Offensive Linemen

One of the positions Kelce always seemed closest with were his fellow offensive linemen. As the center, Kelce was tasked with making all the line calls and was in constant communication with the guards and tackles on either side of him. Having a strong connection and understanding with those players directly next to him was crucial.

In interviews over the years, Kelce frequently praised guards Brandon Brooks and Isaac Seumalo. Of Brooks, who joined the Eagles in 2017, Kelce said “He’s one of the best players I’ve ever played with. His work ethic, his preparation, his attention to detail, how he carries himself – he’s just an incredible football player.” The two developed almost a brotherly bond over their time together blocking for the Eagles offense.

Of Seumalo, who has spent his entire career with the Eagles since being drafted in 2016, Kelce said “Playing next to Isaac these last few years has been incredible. He’s so smart, so talented, so consistent. I love that dude. We’ve been side by side for so long now, we just have an instinctive understanding of each other out there.” Kelce clearly valued the chemistry and communication he built with Seumalo at left guard.

Kelce also expressed admiration for his fellow tackles over the years. Of long-time right tackle Lane Johnson, who the Eagles drafted just after Kelce in 2013, Kelce said “Lane is the best right tackle in the game, in my opinion. Blocking next to him all these years has been so fun and made me a much better player. He’s an incredible athlete.”

And of veteran left tackle Jason Peters, who mentored Kelce early in his career, Kelce said “Playing with JP was special. The way that guy dominated at left tackle week after week, it was awesome to watch. He really took me under his wing when I was a young guy and taught me so much.” The respect and appreciation Kelce had for his offensive line brethren was always very evident.

    Quarterbacks

As the center, Kelce also had a particularly close relationship with the quarterback, as he was responsible for making all the line calls and protections at the line of scrimmage. Over the years, Kelce blocked for several Eagles quarterbacks, but two stand out as players he seemed especially close with – Donovan McNabb and Carson Wentz.

Of McNabb, who spent the first 11 seasons of his career with the Eagles including Kelce’s rookie year in 2011, Kelce said “McNabb was so much fun to block for. He was such a great leader, so talented, and I loved studying film with him. Even after he left, he remained someone I looked up to and learned so much from.” The veteran McNabb clearly left an impression on the rookie Kelce.

But it was Kelce’s relationship with Carson Wentz that may have been his strongest quarterback bond. The two spent five seasons together from 2016-2020 before Wentz was traded. Kelce said of Wentz “Carson is like a brother to me. We spent so many hours together in the film room, on the practice field, in meetings. I loved blocking for that guy. He fought so hard and was so talented. It’s been awesome to see his success and I’ll always be rooting for him.”

The trust and chemistry Kelce built with his quarterbacks, especially Wentz, was a big key to the Eagles offensive success during most of Kelce’s career. His ability to see the field from the center position and make the right calls complemented the talent of QBs like McNabb and Wentz perfectly.

    Playmakers

While Kelce’s primary job was to block for the quarterback and open holes for the running game, he clearly took pride when his blocking helped spring big plays for some of the Eagles’ most talented skill position players as well.

A player Kelce seemed to enjoy blocking for early in his career was running back LeSean McCoy. Of “Shady” McCoy, who led the NFL in rushing during Kelce’s rookie year, Kelce said “Blocking for Shady was so fun. He was so shifty and talented. When we got a hole, you knew he could take it the distance. It was awesome being part of opening up runs for a guy as special as he was.”

Later in his career, another back Kelce took pride in blocking for emerged – Miles Sanders. Of Sanders, who had over 1000 scrimmage yards in 2019 with Kelce blocking for him, Kelce said “Miles is such a talented all-around back. His vision, his burst, his hands – he makes my job so much easier. I love clearing holes for that guy because I know he can do something special with the ball. He’s got a really bright future.”

And of course, no discussion of Eagles playmakers would be complete without mentioning Kelce’s longtime teammate Zach Ertz. As arguably the best tight end in franchise history, Ertz was a favorite target of Wentz and others. Kelce said of Ertz “Blocking for 86 was the best. He’s not just an incredible receiver but one of the toughest and smartest players I’ve been around. I took a lot of pride in helping open up his routes and buying Carson time to find him. He’s going down as an all-time great Eagle.”

The bond and chemistry Kelce formed with his fellow offensive linemen, quarterbacks, and some of the Eagles’ most talented skill players was a big reason for the team’s success during much of his 12-year career in Philadelphia. His ability to lift up those around him as much as they lifted him up is a testament to the selfless leadership he brought to that locker room.

While Kelce’s individual accolades speak for themselves – six Pro Bowls and a Super Bowl championship among other honors – it’s clear his greatest joys came from paving the way for others. The admiration and respect was always mutual between Kelce and the tremendous teammates who helped define his remarkable Eagles career. As he closes the book on his playing days, those are the relationships that will endure far beyond the gridiron.

  • Discover the legacy of Randy Centers and how his career paved the way for the success of Jason Kelce in the NFL

Discover the legacy of Randy Centers and how his career paved the way for the success of Jason Kelce in the NFL

Randy Centers: The Trailblazer for Jason Kelce

Randy Centers and Jason Kelce are two names that are synonymous with excellence at the center position for the Philadelphia Eagles. While Kelce is currently establishing himself as one of the greatest centers in franchise history, he owes much of his success to the trail that was blazed by Randy Centers over a decade earlier. Centers was a dominant force for the Eagles offensive line throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, establishing himself as a leader both on and off the field. His dedication to his craft and mentorship of younger players like Kelce helped transform the center position for the Eagles. In this article, we will examine Centers’ illustrious career, his influence on Kelce, and how both players have cemented their legacies as two of the best to ever play the position in Philadelphia.

    ### Randy Centers: A Tenacious Leader for the Eagles Offensive Line

Randy Centers was drafted by the Eagles in the third round of the 1993 NFL Draft out of Clemson. At 6’3 and 295 pounds, he possessed the size and athleticism that was desired for offensive linemen of his era. However, it was his intangibles like toughness, intelligence, and leadership that truly set Centers apart. From the moment he stepped onto the field for the Eagles, Centers established himself as the unquestioned leader of the offensive line. He was a technician in his technique but also brought a physical, nasty edge to his game. Centers embraced contact and finished every play, earning a reputation as one of the most tenacious blockers in the league.

This tenacity and toughness made Centers a cornerstone for some of the Eagles’ best offensive lines of the 1990s and early 2000s. In his first season, he started all 16 games and helped pave the way for one of the league’s top rushing attacks. Centers continued building on his success over the next decade, making the Pro Bowl in 1995, 1997, and 2001. He was also named a First Team All-Pro in 1995 and 1997, cementing his status among the elite centers in the NFL. More than just an elite individual performer, Centers took great pride in his leadership of the Eagles offensive line unit. He meticulously studied film and could diagnose defenses as well as any quarterback. Centers’ football IQ allowed him to make calls and adjustments that put his linemates in ideal positions to succeed.

Injuries began to take more of a toll on Centers later in his career, but he continued giving it his all for the Eagles whenever he was on the field. He started 105 of the 116 games he appeared in, missing only 11 games over 11 seasons. Centers played his final season in 2003 before retiring as an Eagle after 11 dedicated years in Philadelphia. He left an indelible mark on the franchise with his tough, physical style of play and set the standard for what an Eagles center was supposed to be. Centers’ combination of intelligence, tenacity, and leadership made him the perfect mentor for the next generation of Eagles offensive linemen, including a young center named Jason Kelce.

    ### Jason Kelce: Benefitting from Centers’ Wisdom and Example

Jason Kelce was drafted by the Eagles in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of the University of Cincinnati. While he possessed the athleticism and intelligence desired in a modern NFL center, Kelce was seen as undersized at just 285 pounds. However, he made the Eagles roster as the backup center and got his chance to start midway through his rookie season after an injury to Jamaal Jackson. Kelce took full advantage, showing promise as both a physical and cerebral presence on the offensive line.

Where Kelce really benefited was by learning under the tutelage of veteran center Randy Centers. Even in his final season with the team in 2003, the 39-year-old Centers still found ways to impart his wisdom on younger players. He took Kelce under his wing, teaching him the techniques, fundamentals, and mental approach needed to succeed at the NFL level. Centers stressed the importance of film study, preparation, and being the quarterback of the offensive line. But he also showed Kelce how to use his athleticism and leverage to his advantage in the physical trenches. Kelce would later say that Centers was “a huge influence on me” and “taught me how to be a pro, how to work hard, and how to be a leader.”

With Centers’ guidance, Kelce continued improving rapidly over his first few seasons. By 2013, he had established himself as the full-time starter and anchored some of the league’s best offensive lines. Kelce’s combination of athleticism, technique, and football IQ allowed him to thrive in a zone blocking scheme. He was a perfect fit for what head coach Chip Kelly wanted to do offensively. Kelce has since developed into arguably the best center in the NFL. He has earned five Pro Bowl selections and four First Team All-Pro honors since 2014, including a Super Bowl LII victory. Kelce is now considered one of the smartest players in the league and sets the standard for his position much like Centers did before him.

    ### Comparing the Careers of Centers and Kelce

While Centers and Kelce share many similarities as leaders of the Eagles offensive line, there are also some key differences in their respective careers and playing styles:

    – Physical Style: Centers was known for his physical, punishing style of play. He embraced contact and finished blocks with authority. Kelce relies more on quickness and leverage rather than sheer power.

    – Accolades: Kelce has achieved greater individual honors with five Pro Bowls and four All-Pro selections so far. Centers earned three Pro Bowls and two All-Pro nods over his career.

    – Longevity: Centers started 105 of 116 possible games over 11 seasons but battled injuries later on. Kelce has started every game possible for the Eagles since 2013 and remains in his prime.

    – Era: Centers played in the physical 90s when bigger linemen dominated. Kelce thrives in the modern, speed-focused NFL utilizing his athleticism.

    – Leadership: Both were the unquestioned leaders and signal-callers of the offensive line throughout their careers in Philadelphia.

While their styles of play differed slightly due to changes in the league, Centers and Kelce established themselves as the standard for Eagles centers through a shared dedication to leadership, technique, and winning football.

    ### The Legacy of Excellence at Eagles Center

Through their individual accomplishments and mentor-protege relationship, Randy Centers and Jason Kelce have cemented the center position as one of strength for the Philadelphia Eagles franchise. Centers was a trailblazer who established what it meant to be an Eagles center through sheer toughness, intelligence, and hard work. Kelce has carried on that standard of excellence and taken the position to new heights with sustained elite play. Both players are surefire selections for the Eagles Hall of Fame whenever their careers end.

Centers left an indelible mark on the Eagles through over a decade of dominance and leadership in the trenches. But perhaps his greatest impact was passing down his knowledge to the next generation. Kelce was the clear beneficiary, crediting Centers for shaping him into the player he is today. Their combined contributions have helped the Eagles consistently boast one of the top offensive lines in the entire NFL. Centers got it all started as the original bell cow for Philadelphia, while Kelce is looking to add to his own incredible legacy in the coming years. Together, they have cemented the Eagles center position as one of the proudest in sports for years to come.

Travis and Jason Kelce’s ‘New Heights’ Podcast Being ‘Shopped Around’ for New Deal: Report

Travis and Jason Kelce continue making major moves away from the football field.

With their weekly podcast “New Heights” routinely topping the charts, the show is currently being shopped around for a new deal, according to The Hollywood Reporter. While specific details remain elusive, the outlet theorized an eight-figure deal for “New Heights” could “certainly be in play.”

A potential contract could theoretically look something similar to the new $250 million deal Joe Rogan signed with Spotify in February or the $100 million SiriusXM deal signed by the “SmartLess” podcast — hosted by Will ArnettJason Bateman and Sean Hayes — in January.

In addition to its impressive download numbers and views on YouTube, “New Heights” was named Podcast of the Year at the iHeartRadio Podcast Awards in March.

“I’ve been surprised. I think everybody’s kind of shocked on how it’s taken off the way it has,” Travis, 34, told The Hollywood Reporter in a story published April 2. “We just started off by wanting to showcase our brotherhood and our similarities knowing that we’re really two different walks of life.”

The Kansas City Chiefs star continued, “But when you get us around each other, you can see why we’re brothers, and you see how much love and how much appreciation we have for each other for getting to where we are in our lives. And we wanted to showcase that.”

In addition to the podcast, Travis — who still has two years left on his current NFL contract — was recently announced as host of the upcoming Prime Video game show Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, which will debut on the streamer later this year.

Though his playing days aren’t over, Travis acknowledged he is taking preemptive steps this offseason with his eyes on a post-football future.

“I’m out here in L.A. trying to get more comfortable in the entertainment world before we start back up with this football thing, knowing that that’s my main focus in my life, and it’ll always be that until I’m done playing,” he told THR. “But I’m definitely still dabbling in the scripted world, the entertainment world, and we’ll see where that road takes me.”

After retiring from the NFL in March, Jason, 36, is the hottest free agent in the sports broadcasting market. In March, Us Weekly confirmed Jason was being pursued to cohost the Monday Night Football pregame show.

According to The Athletic, the former Eagles star is also being courted by CBS, NBC and Prime Video, the home of Thursday Night Football.

Jason Kelce LOST his Super Bowl ring at New Heights live and fears ‘it is in a landfill site in Cincinnati’ – as Travis calls him ‘such a f***ing imbecile’

Jason Kelce has revealed he lost Super Bowl ring at his and brother Travis’ New Heights live show last week.

The Kelce brothers staged a live episode of their hit podcast last Thursday at the University of Cincinnati, where members of the audience even had the chance to get involved with some games on the night.

One of those games saw fans dive into two pools filled with chili in an attempt to retrieve a pair of Super Bowl rings, one of which was a replica.

The other, meanwhile, was the actual ring Jason got his hands on after winning Super Bowl LII with the Philadelphia Eagles back in 2018.

‘This game existed because I continually lose my Super Bowl ring,’ the former Eagles center said on the latest episode of New Heights. ‘And I don’t even know if Travis still knows this, but I legitimately lost my Super Bowl ring in this event.

‘They could not find it. We have still yet to find it, all of this stuff has been thrown away. So I think we can safely assume that my Super Bowl ring is now in a landfill some place in the Cincinnati Tri area.

‘I didn’t think that would happen.’

Travis cannot understand his brother’s decision to include the one and only Super Bowl ring he ever won in the game, with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end saying: ‘What did you expect to happen?!’

‘I thought we would just go in the pool and get the ring afterwards,’ Jason replied.

‘You’re such a f****ng imbecile,’ Travis added. ‘God dammit Jason.’

It is not the first time Jason has been unable to locate his Super Bowl ring.

In the Amazon Prime documentary ‘Kelce’, he could be seen trying to find the precious item to no avail, only to later realize it had been hidden in a sock.

‘Nobody would think that somebody’s gonna hide Super Bowl rings in socks,’ he said on New Heights back in September.

Kelce played in two Super Bowls in his iconic 13-year career with the Eagles, helping Philadelphia win its third championship with a win over the New England Patriots in 2018.

Five years later he returned to the NFL’s biggest stage, only to suffer defeat against brother Travis and the Chiefs.

At the end of his 13th season in Philadelphia, Kelce recently announced his retirement from football in an emotional press conference.

Jason Kelce reveals he doesn’t wear UNDERWEAR unless he is working out in bizarre exchange with brother Travis on New Heights: ‘Problematic to the freedom my boys like to enjoy’

Jason Kelce has explained to brother Travis why he doesn’t wear underwear in a hilarious exchange on the latest New Heights episode.

The brothers got on to the surprise topic while Chiefs star Travis was reading out a commercial in an early segment of the show, taking the opportunity to put his older sibling on the spot.

Travis said: ‘Tommy John underwear is claiming it has the most comfortable underwear out there and I think you should be the deciding factor on that statement.’

But Jason, 36, was not to be embarrassed. He took the opportunity to own his viewpoint – something that he has spoken about before on the show, but long before the podcast enjoyed its recent surge in popularity.

‘As I’ve said on this show, I do not wear underwear,’ Kelce said. I do not wear underwear based on comfort.

‘I find it unnecessary and problematic to the freedom that my boys like to enjoy. If that is going to change… I don’t think that is going to change, I’m curious to see what Tommy John is offering.’

But the Philadelphia Eagles legend, who retired this year after 13 years in the NFL, said that there are times where he has to wear underwear.

‘Every time I’m doing something physicaI,’ he said. ‘I wear them. My thighs chafe. Running, a lot of walking, I wear them.’

On a New Heights episode in October 2022, almost a year before the show boomed in popularity through Travis dating Taylor Swift, Jason admitted he dislikes wearing underwear.

‘I don’t believe they are necessary,’ he told Travis.

Travis replied: ‘You said you don’t believe in them like it’s Christmas, like it’s a religion or something.’

‘I don’t believe they are necessary, I don’t believe there is a useful purpose for them,’ Jason continued. ‘I don’t understand what the purpose is for them.

‘I promise you I do not have skid marks and my prostate is still functioning well. I’m not a leaker so I don’t really understand what the purpose is for them.’
