The Lakers are preparing for their first round matchup against the Denver Nuggets, but basketball always has multiple moving parts happening simultaneously.

While the most important goal is winning an NBA title, USA Basketball is full steam ahead, making plans for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. They officially announced the 12-player on Apr. 17 and Lakers LeBron James and Anthony Davis made the list.

    — Los Angeles Lakers (@Lakers) April 17, 2024

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN and Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that these two Lakers making the team, but the jersey unveiling and statement from USA Basketball made it official.

Following the Lakers’ last practice in Los Angeles before heading to Denver for the opening round of the playoffs, LeBron spoke about joining Davis and representing USA at the Olympics.

“It means everything,” LeBron said. “It’s the first time in 12 years, for me, representing Team USA and I’ve had a lot great times representing the red, white and blue in the summer games, the Olympics. I’m looking forward to doing that and doing it alongside (Anthony Davis) is going to be extremely fun.

“We’ve done it before, but he was fresh out of college. We hadn’t won a championship together, we hadn’t spent a lot of seasons together. To be alongside him, and the rest of the 10 guys as well including the coaching staff and the whole staff that’s part of USA Basketball, I just want to thank Grant Hill and Shawn Ford and the rest of those guys over there on picking me, picking AD. When that moment happens, we’ll be extremely excited and extremely happy to put those uniforms back on and go against the world. It’ll be a huge moment.”

LeBron and Davis now join a long line of Lakers who donned the red, white and blue in the summer after a season in purple and gold. Kobe Bryant did it with LeBron and Davis in 2012, and Austin Reaves participated last year as part of the FIBA World Cup, where Team USA reached the semifinals but failed to medal.

Given that World Cup performance, there’s been a lot of chatter about the world catching up to America in basketball. With Team USA bringing this stacked lineup, it’s clear they are bringing their best to Paris.

There will be no excuse this time, and a dominant performance from Team USA will remind the world that while the game is healthy and thriving all around, America is the sole country with the best basketball players and it isn’t particularly close.

This seems like a final hurrah for this generation of players. Steph Curry, LeBron and Kevin Durant are all over 35, so it’s unlikely they will be playing in the next Summer Olympics in 2028 in Los Angeles.

If this is their last dance, they seem prepared to make it a golden waltz and LeBron and Davis will be taking the lead.

  • How Michael Jordan’s Mindset Made Him a Great Competitor

How Michael Jordan’s Mindset Made Him a Great Competitor

How Michael Jordan's Mindset Made Him a Great Competitor

Michael Jordan is widely considered to be the greatest basketball player of all time. In fact, he’s arguably one of the greatest athletes of all time. He was a four-time gold medalist with USA Basketball, including winning two Olympic golds, and was twice named the USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year. For more than a decade, he was the face of the NBA.

And then he made the decision: a career change. How could a man, at the pinnacle of his success, walk away from success? Not only did he walk away, but he did the unthinkable. He risked his athletic prowess by trying to play baseball, a sport he hadn’t played since he was a teen, knowing that millions of people would be watching his every swing, his every throw, and his every pop fly.

Was it ego? Was it boredom? No. It was psychological. It was the mindset he had since he was in high school; a mindset that was burned in his soul after being cut from his basketball team.

To understand why he risked everything, let’s take a peek into the mindset of Michael Jordan, the competitor:

“I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can’t accept not trying.”

“I’ve always believed that if you put in the work, the results will come.”

“I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”

“My attitude is that if you push me towards something that you think is a weakness, then I will turn that perceived weakness into a strength.”

“If you’re trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I’ve had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.”

As Carol Dweck, author of Mindset, would say, Jordan is a prime example of the growth mindset. It’s the mindset that almost every successful athlete who has had long-term success has. It says genetics may determine the starting line, but hard work determines the finish line.

Failure isn’t just accepted; it’s expected. When you stretch yourself past your current limits, failure is inevitable. It spawns growth. You only reach the top and stay at the top by continually improving. Winning isn’t everything. Growing is.

The Result of Hard Work, Not Genetics

Jordan may have become bored with basketball. He may have craved another challenge. However, he wouldn’t have risked everything if he honestly didn’t believe hard work conquers all. MJ wasn’t dumb. He didn’t think just because he was successful at basketball that he’d be successful at baseball. He wasn’t so egotistical that he thought he couldn’t fail at anything. Not at all. What MJ believed is what every person who has the growth mindset believes: Hard work conquers all.

Coach John Wooden felt the same way. He rarely discussed wins and losses in his pregame speech. Instead he focused on making sure his players were willing to give 100 percent and leave everything on the court.

Coach Wooden stated numerous times that some of his most proud moments were not after winning national championships, but were after losses when his much less talented team gave it their all and still came up short. He knew by focusing on the process, the results would come. Ten national championships later proved his theory.

Mindsets matter. Rarely will a coach discuss psychology. Yet how often do we hear a coach say basketball is as much mental as it is physical? What are we doing to practice the physiological component of basketball? Are we instilling the growth mindset in our players? Or are we just yelling at them, and blaming them for the losses? If you want to breed success, you better start trying to find out its root cause.

Understanding why MJ switched from basketball to baseball is a good start!

LeBron James and Steph Curry Lead USA Basketball’s 11 Players For the Olympics in Paris

Twelve players, including NBA stars LeBron James, Steph Curry, and Kevin Durant, have committed to represent USA Basketball’s men’s national team in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, an insider told USA TODAY Sports.

LeBron James gần 40 tuổi vẫn 'hot' nhất NBA, người đứng thứ 2 gây bất ngờ

The individual asked to remain anonymous as he was not permitted to talk in public until USA Basketball made a formal announcement.

The finalized roster will also include Joel Embiid, Jayson Tatum, Devin Booker, Bam Adebayo, Anthony Davis, Jrue Holiday, Anthony Edwards, and Tyrese Haliburton; the final position will be announced later. Curry is competing for his first Olympic gold medal, Durant is aiming for his fourth, and James is attempting to win his third. Embiid intends to compete in his first Olympics as well.

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry will be making his first Olympic appearance.

Since taking home a bronze medal in the 2004 Athens Games, which is regarded as a turning point for men’s USA Basketball, the men have won four straight gold medals. Jerry Colangelo was instrumental in turning the program around and attracting NBA players to compete for Mike Krzyzewski in the Olympics. Now serving as managing director of the U.S. men’s national team, Grant Hill has committed to play in Paris after receiving offers from the best players in the NBA.

This may be the greatest American squad to compete at the Olympics since the 2012 London Games and the country will be heavy favorites to win gold in Paris. Along with star power, the roster boasts size, scoring, and defense.

The United States will play Serbia, South Sudan, and the winner of Puerto Rico’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament in group play at the Paris Olympics (Mexico, Ivory Coast, Lithuania, Italy, Puerto Rico, or Bahrain).

  • The living legend & Basketball Sensation – Michael Jordan Success Story

The living legend & Basketball Sensation – Michael Jordan Success Story

    Michael Jordan Success Story

When you ask any NBA fan or a person who loves basketball about their favorite player, mostly one name will frequently be taken, i.e. Michael Jordan. The icon is recognized by the association and the fans as the greatest basketball player of all time. He is a living legend in the world of basketball. Even after being rejected for his height, he continued to fight for his dream.

During his childhood, Michael had a very close relationship with his father, as both of them had a mutual love for sports. They played baseball together, however, basketball had a special place in Michael’s hearts, and he followed the footsteps of his elder brother, Larry, to accomplish his dream.

Ever since Michael has been competitive in the field. He never quit anything and was addicted to winning. He didn’t like the idea of losing. Subsequently, he took it on his heart when he couldn’t qualify for his high school’s varsity team.

In his sophomore year at Emsley A. Laney High School, Michael tried out for an open position in the basketball varsity team. However, he didn’t have the required height and skill that could let him in. As a result, he couldn’t qualify for the position that year. Instead, the team took someone taller and bigger and it broke his confidence as he thought of himself as a less competent player.

Since then, Michael started going to school earlier than everyone and spent his mornings practicing alone, shooting hoops in the gym. His desire to be the best player made him unstoppable. He became so passionate about his dream that his physical education teachers had to drag him out of the gym when the first-period bell rang.

After being rejected once, he again tried his luck when another spot opened for the basketball varsity team, and because of his determination, he was accepted as a team member. However, it turned into disappointment when he realized that he was barely allowed to play in the interschool games. He was mostly on the bench, handing out water and towels to the tired players.

In 1983, Jordan was selected by consensus to the NCAA All-American First Team in both his sophomore (1983) and junior (1984) seasons. During his playing career, he proved himself by becoming an exceptionally talented shooter and passer, and a tenacious defender. Soon, he was listed among the 50 greatest players of all time by the NBA, and in 2009 he was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Michael has missed nearly 9,000 shots in his profession, he has flopped many times, but he says that just because of these failures, he learned to succeed. His prosperity mantra in life was to acknowledge disappointments, but leaving something without attempting was never in his dictionary.

“I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can’t accept not trying.”- Michael Jordan

Meѕѕi enrіches Mіchael Jordаn by joіnіng PSG

Lionel Messi’s move to PSG not only has a football impact but also a commercial one. And this will be good news for NBA legend Michael Jordan.

The former Chicago Bulls star’s fortune has been significantly affected during the Covid-19 pandemic. Forbes magazine points out that Jordan lost about 24% of his net worth during the pandemic, with his net worth falling from $2.1 billion to $1.6 billion. But Messi’s arrival at PSG could allow him to regain some of the money he lost.

Messi is one of the most famous athletes around the world and fans always crave to own one of his shirts. Meanwhile, PSG’s jersey carries Nike’s Jordan sub-brand.

The Jordan brand has been the product of PSG’s kits since the 2019/20 season, and Michael Jordan receives 5% of the profits for each shirt sold.

After Messi joined, it is expected that about 2.5 million of his jerseys will be sold this season. This will help Jordan earn a decent amount of money.

So far, PSG has earned about 120 million euros since Messi’s shirts were sold. According to statistics, Jordan earned 6 million euros in just one weekend. In the coming time, this number will continue to increase.

Messi was introduced with the iconic song of the Chicago Bulls

PSG introduced new recruits in the summer of 2021 including Messi, Achraf Hakimi, Georginio Wijnaldum, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Sergio Ramos with the iconic theme song of Chicago Bulls, the basketball club that Jordan played for. That is the song “Sirius” by the group Alan Parsons Project.

Taylor Swift has warned fans not to throw gifts on stage as it ‘really freaks me out’.

The Cruel Summer hitmaker, 33, was performing at the Estadio River Plate in Buenos Aires on Sunday at her delayed Eras Tour show – which had been postponed from Friday due to the bad weather – when she reminded fans of the dangers of lobbing items towards performers after a present landed next to her.

‘Just because communication means having gentle, healthy boundaries, it really freaks me out when stuff gets thrown on the stage,’ said Swift.

She then added, ‘Because if it’s on the stage then a dancer can trip on it.’

Taylor added: ‘I love that you bought presents and that is so nice, but just, can you please not throw them on the stage.’

The girlfriend of Travis Kelce finished with, ‘I love you so much.’

Several high-profile musicians have been struck by objects while on stage, including Bebe Rexha and Harry Styles.

Pop superstar Pink had a crowd member throw their mum’s ashes towards her.

Taylor’s gentle reminder comes after Adele told gig-goers to follow concert ‘etiquette’.

The award-winning star jokingly dared her fans to throw an object at her during her ‘Weekends with Adele’ Las Vegas residency at Ceasar’s Palace.

Adele, 35, told the crowd: ‘Have you noticed how people are, like, forgetting show etiquette at the moment, throwing (things) onstage? Have you seen it?

‘I dare you, dare you to throw something at me.

Adele then shot a T-shirt into the crowd and giggled: ‘But you can shoot things at the audience!’

Prior to that, Bebe was left with a black eye after being hit in the face by a phone that was thrown at her by someone in the crowd at a show in New York.

The ‘Heart Wants What It Wants’ songstress was seen dropping to her knees and clutching her face as stagehands at Pier 17’s The Rooftop venue rushed to help her.

Travis Kelce has done NOTHING wrong by flying to Taylor Swift’s Argentina Eras Toυr dates, insists Eli Manning – as he jυмps to Chiefs star’s defense aмid backlash over his decision to fly soυth

NFL legend Eli Manning has backed Travis Kelce‘s decision to spend his bye week with Taylor Swift dυring her Eras toυr in Bυenos Aires – despite a backlash froм soмe sections of football fans.

On Thυrsday, Manning, 42, told PEOPLE that bye weeks were designed to get away froм football and allow players to recharge for the reмainder of the season.

‘I think for hiм to travel, there’s nothing wrong with traveling, going soмewhere,’ Manning said. ‘Hey, if he wants to go and sυpport his girlfriend and see her play a concert, I’ve got no probleм with that.’

Kelce’s roмance with the 12-tiмe Graммy-winning popstar has been Aмerica’s favorite love story since going pυblic in Septeмber. After Swift attended both hoмe and away gaмes for Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end is overseas to retυrn the sυpport fir Swift in her record-breaking toυr.

On social мedia, thoυgh, soмe fans shared their concerns and insisted the NFL sυperstar shoυld be concentrating on the second half of the Kansas City Chiefs‘ season as they aiм for back-to-back Sυper Bowl wins.

Travis Kelce arrived in Bυenos Aires Friday to catch the international leg of Taylor Swift’s toυr

Kelce and Swift began dating in Septeмber, with Swift becoмing a regυlar at Chiefs gaмes

Kelce was seen arriving in Bυenos Aires on Friday мorning, in exclυsive DailyMail.coм photos, after flying oυt of Kansas City the night before.

Manning eмphasized how bye weeks are ‘not a tiмe to go party and celebrate,’ citing Las Vegas as an exaмple, before revealing that he υsed υsed to spend the off week by visiting his college and seeing faмily.

Manning also reiterated how Kelce’s decision to see Swift in Argentina is harмless.

‘I think the bye week is a great tiмe to get away froм football and I think that’s the idea,’ said Manning. ‘It is the tiмe to rest the body, rest the мind a little bit, recharge yoυrself to get ready for that second half of the season.’

All 32 teaмs in the NFL get a bye week every season. The Chiefs’ short break coмes right after starring in the foυrth NFL international gaмe this year in Frankfυrt, Gerмany.

Forмer Giants qυarterback Eli Manning sυpports Kelce traveling for Swift’s toυr in Argentina

Swift kicked off the Soυth Aмerican leg on Thυrsday, bυt then had to cancel Friday’s show

The Chiefs took care of bυsiness in Eυrope, beating the Miaмi Dolphins, 14-21, on Sυnday. With his teaм coмfortably sitting on a 7-2 record, Kelce мade a qυick pit stop back in the United States before boarding a private jet to North Aмerica.

Swift kick-started the Soυth Aмerican leg of her sold-oυt Eras Toυr show on Thυrsday night, and was dυe to play the second of three straight shows on Friday.

Poor weather has pυt paid to that, thoυgh, with the pop sυperstar taking to social мedia on Friday afternoon to reveal that – dυe to poor weather – she has had to postpone tonight’s show at Estadio River Plate.
