VERIFIED: After a two-year break, a former Laker is back in the NBA

Former Los Angeles Lakers point guard Isaiah Thomas is offically back in the league, just two years from the last time we saw him on an NBA court. Thomas recently signed a 10-day contract with the Pacific Division rival, Phoenix Suns.

Thomas was a fan-favorite during his short time with the Lakers, spending the second half of the 2018 season with Los Angeles. He also re-joined them in 2021, earning a 10-day contract with the team. He played just four games for the Lakers before the franchise decided not to renew his contract.

Thomas averaged 9.2 points per game during the four games with the Lakers in 2021. Thomas is a two-time All-Star in his career and he made the NBA All-Second Team in 2017 with the Boston Celtics. The league is more fun with Thomas back in it and we wish him all the best of luck with Phoenix.

Drake, Rihanna’s ex, was suspected by fans of imitating ASAP Rocky’s style by using hairpins in his newly released MV.

A new look for Drake, featuring colorful hair clips, debuted last month. Drake has stuck with his controversial new hairstyle, even including it in an Oct. 6 Instagram picture promoting his album For All the Dogs. New “8AM in Charlotte” video also features him with the same hairstyle.

They Compare Drake to A$AP Rocky and Say He Copied Him

Since the album dropped, many have commented on how similar Drake’s hairstyle is to A$AP Rocky’s. Rocky’s current style, in which he wears pearl clips throughout his hair. During his appearance at 2023 Rolling Loud Miami in July, Rocky presented a head full of footage.

“Lmao is Drake growing his hair and wearing clips because of ASAP Rocky?” On Sunday, October 8th, a user of X (formerly known as Twitter) made the following message.

Another poster wonders, “Why is Drake copying everything asap Rocky doing with his hair?”

Drake is free to use as many hair clips as he likes to secure his signature loose curls. Never be able to compete with the beauty and thuggishness of ASAP Rocky. “I got the girl,” someone else on Twitter exclaimed.

In light of recent fan theories, Drake may be dissing A$AP Rocky’s gf Rihanna on “Fear of Heights.”

The luxurious homes LeBron James has acquired over the years represent his extravagant lifestyle due to his money. After spending $13.4 million on a Miami estate, he sold it and invested the proceeds in a $9.2 million Akron mansion.

The estate has a two-lane private bowling alley, health facility, indoor basketball court, and movie theater.

The pool and pool house are great for parties and other events. LeBron James bought this lovely Akron mansion because he loves the community.

  • Rihanna and LeBron James Making a Lasting Impact Beyond Black History Month through Philanthropy

Rihanna and LeBron James Making a Lasting Impact Beyond Black History Month through Philanthropy

Beyond sports, entertainment, and business, both Rihanna and LeBron James have worked for more than a decade to leave a lasting legacy for the environment, education, and equity.

She’s one of the bestselling performers in music, headlining this year’s Super Bowl halftime show. He’s one of the world’s most successful and influential athletes who just broke an all-time record.

February is a busy month for Rihanna and LeBron James, who are not only history-making superstars in their respective fields, but also dedicated philanthropists with their own innovative non-profits.

Rihanna's Clara Lionel Foundation has spent more than $54 million on justice initiatives in the Caribbean and United States.

With 14 number-one singles, best original song Oscar nominee Rihanna continues to be one of the recording industry’s most popular entertainers, according to Billboard. In 2015, she became the first artist to reach 100 million digital sales and received the 2017 Harvard Humanitarian of the Year award. Rihanna officially reached billionaire status in 2021, becoming the wealthiest woman in music largely due to her Fenty Beauty cosmetics line.

Born and raised in Barbados, Rihanna founded the Clara Lionel Foundation in honor of her grandparents in 2012. CLF champions environmental and social justice projects in the United States and Caribbean, which the non-profit notes is among the most disaster-prone areas in the world and has been especially vulnerable to the effects of climate change.

Its climate resilience programs proactively develop emergency preparedness solutions, like upgrading infrastructure and keeping health care accessible during crises.

“CLF’s goal is for the Caribbean to become the world’s first climate-resilient zone by helping communities prepare for and withstand natural disasters,” says Christine Platt, Director of Communications at CLF.

CLF celebrates 10 years of impact

The non-profit says its models can be scaled and replicated in other regions of the world, and its latest initiative, With/Stand, reflects a commitment to global teamwork. CLF has funded programs in more than 35 countries and all 50 states, spanning climate justice, natural disaster response, covid pandemic relief, education, and racial equity.

“CLF prides itself on focusing its support of climate justice initiatives led by Black, Indigenous, people of color, with 100% of our current Caribbean partners being BIPOC-led. And that’s because we understand that environmental justice is intricately interconnected with racial injustice,” Platt says.

During Black History Month, the non-profit is running a campaign to honor climate justice trailblazers like Colonel Charles Young, the first Black Superintendent of the National Park Service. But their work continues year-round.

“At CLF, we are always celebrating, highlighting, supporting, and amplifying the work of Black environmentalists,” Platt adds, “both domestically and in the Caribbean.”

LeBron James' I PROMISE School is now in its fifth full year.

LeBron James is one of the biggest names in professional sports. The current Los Angeles Laker is the highest-scoring basketball player of all time with four NBA championship rings with three different teams, four NBA MVP awards, and two Olympic gold medals, among many other accomplishments. Named several times to Time Magazine’s list of the 100 Most Influential People, James also reportedly became the first active NBA player to become a billionaire with his investments in athletics, dining, real estate, and media. (Disclosure: James executive produced the 2021 CNN Film “Dreamland: The Burning of Black Wall Street.”)

James was named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2004, the same year he founded The LeBron James Family Foundation. Since then, the education-focused non-profit has served more than 1,600 public school students and their families in James’ hometown of Akron, Ohio.

The LJFF launched its marquee I PROMISE program in 2011 identifying and supporting third graders at risk of falling behind in school. In 2018, the LJFF opened its I PROMISE School for grades three through eight with a longer school day, STEM-focused curriculum, and family-focused culture. Its “new model for urban, public education” extends beyond the classroom with its on-site Family Resource Center offering services and programming such as medical care, legal aid, financial literacy classes, and a food pantry.

Students in the program can earn four-year scholarships to the University of Akron, home to LJFF’s I PROMISE Institute, or Kent State University. Two-year scholarships are also available to Stark State College, an opportunity also open to program parents and guardians. Today, the LJFF says nearly a hundred students from the original class are attending college and the foundation has helped 25 I PROMISE parents earn their GEDs.

A House Transformed | LeBron James Family Foundation

Beyond academics, the LJFF is expanding into housing. In 2020, the foundation opened the I PROMISE Village by Graduate Hotels within walking distance of the school, offering rent-free transitional lodging and resources for 15 students and their families in immediate need of safe, stable shelter. A few blocks from campus, when longer-term I PROMISE Housing opens by early next year, 50 new, affordable multi-bedroom apartments will be available to program families.

Community is also central to LJFF’s mission. I PROMISE families meet every month to share a meal and conversation. Soon they’ll have a new venue: House Three Thirty, a multi-use community space and resource center, scheduled to open to the public next month.

One annual highlight happens every August when James hosts a field trip and “family reunion” at Cedar Point to kick off the new school year.

An LJFF spokesperson says, “The Foundation’s hands-on work and resources are ‘always on,’ activating 365 days a year and continuously finding unique ways to connect with our students and families year-round.”

Usher shares his thoughts about participating in the Suρer Bowl Halftime show with Rihanna: ‘She is talented and the best companion I have ever met’

Rihanna is thrilled that R&B icon Usher will be the main attraction at today’s Suρer Bowl LVIII halftime show in Las Vegas. As Usher prepares to travel the same path she took the previous year, the 2023 Suρer Bowl star claims she has no advise for him.

“Usher is a natural, a legend, and he has been doing this since he was a youngster. He is destined for that program, so I can’t offer him any advise. The millionaire Barbadian said, “He shouldn’t and he isn’t going to shake one second.”

“Usher, you got this, buddy, but everyone knows that he’s destined for this as well. “Entertainers who are built for this kind of work excite me, and he shows in Vegas that he is here to stay,” Rihanna said to E! News.

This week, a large number of celebrities, including Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys, Justin Bieber, and others, are traveling to Las Vegas to watch the game and meet the well-known performer, who wrapped up his Vegas residency late last year. It’s anticipated that Alicia and Justin would go on stage with the vocalist of You Got It Bad.

But Usher won’t be the only performer in the 2024 Suρer Bowl halftime schedule; fans of football will also be treated to a melodious ensemble as the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers square off.

“It’s an honor of a lifetime to finally check a Suρer Bowl performance off my bucket list,” Usher said, expressing his delight. I am eager to present a presentation to the globe that will be unlike anything they have ever seen from me.

    Usher, Rihanna

Considering the magnitude of the occasion, Usher said in a CBS “Sunday Morning” interview that playing at the Suρer Bowl has always been a goal of his, comparable to reaching the summit of the music business. He recognized the tradition he now belongs to and stressed the historical context, especially for African American artists.

Usher shared tips from JAY-Z, the Suρer Bowl’s live music entertainment strategy, in the run-up to his performance. JAY-Z advised him to respect the culture and create moments that the people will remember. Shaheem Sanchez will translate the halftime show in American Sign Language in addition to Usher’s tҺrilling presentation.

Tiësto was originally announced as the “first in-game DJ” for the Suρer Bowl, however his absence due to a family situation has been reported. This means that other musicians may perform with Usher.

Additionally, a spectacular roster of performances is promised for the pregame festivities, which will include country music legend Reba McEntire performing the national anthem for her first-ever Suρer Bowl appearance, backed by Daniel Durant’s ASL interpretations. Rapper Post Malone will enthrall audiences with “America the Beautiful,” while Andra Day’s “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” enhanced by Shaheem Sanchez’s sign language performance, will strike a chord with listeners.

Kickoff for Suρer Bowl LVIII is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, February 11 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The game may be seen on CBS, Nickelodeon, or Paramount+.

The Internet Is Going Crαzy Over LeBron James’ Absurd Pass Against the Trail Blazers

James is still one of the top 10 players in the NBA despite being 38 years old and playing in his 21st season.

He has shot 57.2% from the field and 39.7% from outside the arc this season, averaging 25.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 1.6 steals per game.

The Lakers improved their record to 7-6 after 13 games, putting them in seventh place in the Western Conference.

James has guided the Lakers to the NBA playoffs three times in the past five seasons, and he is currently in his sixth season with the team.

They defeated the Miami Heat in the 2020 NBA Finals to become the first team to do so since 2010.

On Sunday night in Los Angeles, they will welcome the Houston Rockets, following their 2-0 record over the Trail Blazers.

Despite finishing 43–39 and earning the seventh western seed in the NBA playoffs last season, the Lakers advanced past the first round of the playoffs by defeating the Memphis Grizzlies and the Golden State Warriors.

They were defeated in the Western Conference Finals by the Denver Nuggets.

The Los Angeles Lakers tipped off their regular season on Tuesday against the defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets, the same team that swept them out of the Western Conference finals.

It was ring night for the Nuggets, which gave the Lakers an opportunity to spoil their party. After a very early burst, the Lakers went cold about midway through the first quarter, and they were beat on the boards and in the paint as Denver opened up an 18-point lead. But they fought back with their transition game to come to within five just after halftime.

After Denver re-established a double-digit lead in the third quarter, L.A. scored 13 unanswered points to come to within three. However, the Nuggets were just too much, and they won, 119-107.

Ultimately, the Lakers fell short because they were simply outmuscled, which evoked memories of last season’s playoff sweep. Their 3-point shooting was sporadic, and although they committed only 11 turnovers, they often led to key baskets for the Nuggets.

Los Angeles also gave up 17 second-chance points and 52 points in the paint, although it had 58 points in the paint. Defensive rebounding, as well as transition defense and halfcourt offensive production, seem to be the team’s chief concerns.

There wasn’t much wrong with Davis’ effort and intensity in the first half. He shot 6-of-11 in the first two quarters. Afterward, he failed to score a single basket.

Lakers vs. Nuggets Preview: Time, Channel, Injury Report, Lineups, Odds, More

He finished 6-of-17 from the field, although he did connect on one of his two 3-point attempts. Davis did grab eight rebounds and block two shots in 34 minutes, but the Lakers needed a lot more from him, especially when they were attempting to extend their two main rallies in the second half.

Prince validated head coach Darvin Ham’s decision to put him in the starting lineup. He shot 6-of-8 overall and a sizzling 4-of-6 from 3-point range, continuing the strong marksmanship he displayed during the preseason. Overall, he had 18 points, and he also threw in three rebounds, one assist and a blocked shot.

Russell shot 2-of-5 from downtown, but he was just 4-of-12 overall. It is becoming clear the Lakers are at a significant disadvantage whenever Russell shoots poorly. Whenever he does so, their other guards will need to pick up the slack, which they didn’t do against Denver.

On a positive note, Russell did dish seven assists, which is proof he can be a positive element even when he’s struggling with his shot. His defensive effort and intensity look improved, but both of Denver’s guards — Jamal Murray and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope — shot well over 50%.

Denver Nuggets vs Los Angeles Lakers: Analysis and Prediction – Oct. 25, 2023 - Basketball Sphere

Reaves will always give 100%. On more than one occasion on Tuesday, he dived into the fans to go after loose balls, and four of his eight rebounds came on the offensive boards. However, he went just 4-of-11 from the field to score 14 points, although he added four assists and two steals.

It looks like James may ease his way into this season. He often tends to do so these days, but he only played 29 minutes on Tuesday, which may be a clue as to how much head coach Darvin Ham intends to manage his workload.

James seemed to pick his spots in this game to a certain extent. He went a long stretch without making a single shot outside of the paint, and in fact, his only make outside of the paint came on a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter.

He exited the game for a rest with 8:48 left in the final period with L.A. down 94-90. When he came back with 6:04 left, it was behind 103-91. It is critical for the team to, at the very least, not lose ground when James is resting, especially late in games.

Overall, James shot 10-of-16 and had 21 points, eight rebounds and five assists. The Lakers could’ve used more from him, but perhaps it’s a little too early in the season for James to play his A game.

Hachimura, who played so well in last season’s Western Conference finals against Denver, didn’t get it done tonight. He shot 3-of-10 and scored only six points. He missed all three of his attempts from beyond the arc.

In 15 minutes, Wood did well enough offensively, scoring seven points on 3-of-4 shooting while also adding four rebounds. At least once, he got the ball in the low post and simply overpowered the Nuggets for an easy basket.

Defensively, the Lakers need more from him. He cannot stop Nikola Jokic, who had 29 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists (who can stop Jokic though?), but he at least needs to make the reigning NBA Finals MVP work harder for his points.

Reddish helped out in 18 minutes, making half of his four shots, which included a 3-pointer, and scoring seven points to go along with four rebounds and a blocked shot. It’s performances like this that will put him in the good graces of Ham while giving him an opportunity to prove he isn’t a bust.

No one can ever fault Vincent’s effort. He is a gritty player, and he should help the Lakers this season. However, the big question is whether he will hit from downtown often enough.

On Tuesday, he did not. He was 0-of-4 from that distance and 3-of-8 overall from the field. He finished with six points, two assists, one rebound and one steal.

Hayes played just seven minutes and grabbed one defensive rebound, while neither Christie nor Lewis made any contributions in one minute of garbage time at the end of the game.

Nikola Jokic On LeBron James Ahead Of Playoff Matchup: “He’s A Monster. I Really Appreciate Him.”…

Nikola Jokic got real on LeBron James and his ability after the game, praising the 39-year-old Lakers star ahead of their playoff matchup.

Nikola Jokic On LeBron James Ahead Of Playoff Matchup: "He's A Monster. I Really Appreciate Him."

    Credit: Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Nikola Jokic spoke to the media ahead of the Nuggets vs. Lakers first-round playoff series. Jokic was asked about Lakers star LeBron James and the Serbian center made it clear he has nothing but respect for LeBron.

“The guy is amazing. The things he’s doing on the court are really… He’s in the game in so many different ways, not just scoring. He can score from any position basically. He’s a monster. I really appreciate him. I really respect him. I think he’s a very good basketball player, probably one of the best. I really respect him and enjoy playing against the best.”

    (Starts at 3:23)

Many have assumed that Jokic will feel comfortable heading into this series because of the Nuggets 7-0 record over the Lakers over the last year. However, the reigning Finals MVP made it clear that the Lakers have been their most competitive opponent over the last year and that the win-loss record is misleading.

“I think every game in the playoff series was really tough, it could have gone either way. It was probably the toughest series we had. Yes, we beat them 4-0, but they’re a really talented team. Well-built, they have a couple of guys. I have huge respect for them and I think it’ll be an interesting series/round.”

Jokic averaged 27.8 points, 14.5 rebounds, and 11.8 assists against the Lakers over the 2023 series. He’s averaging 29.3 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 9.0 assists in three games this season, so he’ll be confident and comfortable in his ability to handle the Lakers once again.

LeBron won’t make it easy for Jokic, but the Nuggets have proved themselves to be a class apart.

Michael Malone Is Confident About Another Series Win

Nuggets head coach Michael Malone also discussed the series during media interactions today. Malone was far more direct than Jokic about his belief that the Nuggets would win, calling LeBron James old and calling Jokic better than Anthony Davis.

“We swept them last year. We swept them this year. We swept them last year. We swept them this year. Darvin Ham said they not ducking no fades, but that doesn’t mean they won’t catch one. What can AD do with Jokic and LeBron is my age… They come in playing really well and hungry. They want to flip that script. Our players understand that. We know them, they know us. We know what to expect.”

This matchup won’t be easy for the Lakers but they will do everything in their power to make sure this season goes in their favor. The Nuggets match up really well against them, negating their size advantage while also having more consistent shooting around their stars.

Michael Malone has outcoached Darvin Ham before and will hope his magic touch stays over the franchise as they head into a campaign to become the first back-to-back champion in the NBA since the Warriors won the 2018 title.
