Lionel Messi in Inter Miami is not the same as his days in Europe and leading the Argentina national team.

On the latest edition of the New Heights podcast, Jason and brother Travis raved over the NFL scheduling the Eagles-Packers game in Brazil this season. As a result, Jason began raving about soccer and the difference between MLS and other competitions.

Jason, who earlier talked about his experience watching the 2016 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, kept his stance after Travis raved about Messi’s recent game in Kansas City.

 

‘I’ll tell you what though, Messi played in Kansas City this past weekend,’ Travis shared. ‘He played in Arrowhead, actually.’

Jason said: ‘It’s not the same being in the MLS,’ to which Travis replied: ‘Why is it not? Don’t s**t on the MLS, don’t do this, Jason.’

‘I’m not sh****ng on the MLS,’ Jason continued. ‘I’m saying it’s not international soccer. When you think of soccer, I know there’s all these wonderful clubs overseas, there’s the MLS, I think of the World Cup, that’s all I’m saying. It’s international play and then everything else.’

While his older brother raved about international competitions, the three-time Super Bowl champion insisted ‘it’s all about the Premier League.’

However, after Travis stood his ground on defending Major League Soccer, Jason remained adamant that the level of play in the US is not the same as Messi’s previous competitions.

‘I didn’t say I won’t watch it (MLS),’ Jason insisted. ‘I’m just saying it wasn’t the same level. Seeing Messi play for Miami is not the same as when he played in Barcelona or when he was at the world stage at the World Cup. That’s all I’m saying – it’s not the same.’

After leading Argentina to the FIFA World Cup title in 2023, the Argentine shocked the sporting world by leaving Paris Saint Germain and joining David Beckham’s club in Fort Lauderdale.

Upon his entry, Messi led The Herons to their first club title by winning the inaugural Leagues Cup. He also led Inter Miami to the US Open Cup Final within months of arriving.

‘Seeing Michael Jordan on the golf course is not the same as seeing Jordan in a Bulls uniform,’ Jason said, prompting Travis to burst into laughter.

‘You see one person on the biggest stage possible, with the biggest team in history,’ he explained. ‘This is the best soccer player at the World Cup. That’s different than seeing Lionel Messi tearing it up in Kansas City, just saying.’

Travis continued to push back and compared Messi’s MLS venture to Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swedish goal-scorer played for Inter, Milan, Barcelona, and PSG before finding himself with the LA Galaxy from 2018-2020.

‘Dude, it’s the same – it’s Lionel Messi,’ Travis said. ‘It was the same as when Ibrahimovic went f***ing crazy in LA. It’s great, it’s electric. He made the MLS fun to watch.’

‘I’m not saying it’s not good for MLS, I’m not saying it’s not great, I’m saying it’s not as good,’ Jason replied. ‘I’m not saying it sucks that he’s playing in Miami, it’s awesome for the MLS, it’s great for American soccer.

‘I’m just saying it’s nowhere near when he scores a goal for Argentina and the entire country is erupting and cheers because it means more to Argentina than any other sport on the planet.’

On the latest episode of his New Heights podcast with brother Travis Kelce, the NFL star was asked if his wife Kylie Kelce left daughter Wyatt, 4, in charge while she visited Milan Fashion Week in February.

 

“I mean Wyatt is always in charge, really,” joked Jason, 36, who is also dad to daughters Elliotte, 3, and Bennett, 12 months.

“You try to not make her be in charge,” he continued. “I try to discipline her. It’s just hard. It is hard to reason with somebody that has no reason.”

 

In a sweet moment, Travis, 34, noted that Wyatt was one of his favorite people to “people-watch” and that he loved watching her play with her little sister Elliotte, though she often did her own thing.

He also shared a story about when their father Ed Kelce got Elliotte a toy for her birthday in which she could shoot little foam airplanes from the top of a gun and said the “girls were going nuts” over it. He recalled telling Wyatt not to shoot Elliotte and to “be careful” but his eldest niece still shot Elliotte in the side of the head.

“ ‘Oh no, Wyatt,’ I said don’t do that… [but I saw] the slow turn, and the smile, the joy [on her face],” Travis recalled. “Ellie was having a blast. She cried for about two seconds and then was right back to shooting it!”

 

“This is why Kylie didn’t leave me in charge of the girls cause there would have been plenty of that,” Jason teased, adding that he got plenty of help over the week from his mother-in-law and their babysitter Lauren.

“I was not alone with the girls for more than two or three hours at any point in the weekend,” he admitted. “Grandma stayed over, Kylie’s mom, thank you… she’s insane.”

“I can handle Ellie and Wyatt,” he continued. “It’s really the baby, the infant that for some reason I’m just not as adept at handling. I try.”

Jason — who retired from the NFL on Monday — said that his mother-in-law and babysitter were “pulling lots of extra time duty” to “help us get through that week,” especially since he joked that he takes more time to wake up than most folks. However, he was “happy” that his wife got some time to herself.

“I’m really happy Ky was able to go out there,” he shared. “She doesn’t get any time away from the girls, really. So, between Vegas for the Super Bowl and then Milan Fashion Week, it was awesome. She went out there with her friend. Killing it!”

During the recent New Heights podcast, Travis Kelce reacted to his elder brother taking on the WWE arena while donning a lucha libre mask.

Even though Travis loved his brother and his appearance on the biggest stage of wrestling, Jason reveals another member of the family was actually busy making fun of how “obsessed” the former Eagles center was with his biceps.

 

Jason Kelce first gets astonished looking at himself from the WrestleMania night. As they looked on a picture of him with Rey Mysterio, Kelce exclaims,“Not gonna lie, my biceps are looking really good. Look at that picture!” He says he is not ashamed of how good he thinks he looks. And Travis is also astonished by the way his brother’s biceps are looking and asks,”How much did you guys lift before you went out there?”

To which Jason promptly responds, “We used a lot of bands and Kylie kept making fun of me because I was really obsessed with how my biceps looked. It’s just the honest answer, I’m not gonna hide. I’m not ashamed, going in there with a cut off (jeans), going to get them things popping.”

Travis believes in his brother and even says how proud he is. And agrees that even Jason should be proud of how his biceps looked because they do look amazing.

 

He goes on to say that his choice of wearing a cut off jeans with Tims was a bold one. And immediately said, “Don’t f*** with that.” Travis goes on to ask Jason about his experience jumping over the rope and wearing lucha libre masks to hide their identity.

But Jason reveals that everyone close to them knew that it is Lane Johnson and Jason Kelce. Yes, people further away did not understand how was coming in, but the ones close to them knew who they were. And the masks hardly did a good job in front of the intelligent but electric Philly crowd.

Travis Kelce inquired about how it all went down with Jason Kelce and the WWE. Both being childhood fans of wrestling were elated to be involved with the event. Even though they knew it was something to do with masks, Jason Kelce reveals that they had no idea what was going to happen that night until 2 hours before the match. And Travis jokes in response, “Nice, so they’re like a New Heights production. You just find out like 5 minutes before you go out there, what’s going on.”

And Jason also agrees, “Pretty much, yeah.” Here Travis takes it forward by saying how he always thought they were behind other leading teams when it came to the management of events and such. But it “looks like we’re pretty spot on with the best productions in the world.”

Tina was asked whether she knew that Beyonce would one day do a country album during a red carpet interview at the premiere of Challengers in Los Angeles.

‘Well she’s done country music before. Several of her songs — If I Were A Boy, Daddy Lessons — many of them have had that tinge, because she grew up in Texas and Louisiana, and that is a big influence, so I was not surprised at all.’

As for whether Beyonce would go on tour with the country record, Tina said, ‘You have to ask her.’

Cowboy Carter, which includes a contribution from the hitmaker’s daughter Rumi, has made music history since its release on March 29.

The singer and songwriter is the first Black woman to have a number one country album.

After reaching number one, her single Texas Hold ‘Em is now number two on the Billboard Hot 100. The song also made history at the top of the Hot Country Songs.

Sixteen Carriages, which was released at the same time, debuted at number nine on the country charts and currently rests at number 38 on the Hot 100.

One week after Cowboy Carter’s release, Levi Strauss & Co reported a 20-percent increase in foot traffic in its US stores, and enjoyed a 20-percent increase in its share price, according to Women’s Wear Daily.

The track Bodyguard, entered the charts at number 26, and Blackbird, the re-make of the Beatles’ hit, featuring Tanner Adell, Brittney Spencer, Tiera Kennedy and Reyna Roberts is right behind it at number 27.

Jason Kelce got a taste of Taylor Swift’s star power at the 2024 Super Bowl.

The Philadelphia Eagles Center, 36, shared on his New Heights podcast with brother Travis Kelce that he was blown away by how many celebrities wanted to meet the “Anti-Hero” singer, 34, in her suite at the game.

Jason made the revelation after Travis asked him how Usher’s Halftime Show performance went, to which the Eagles player revealed that he didn’t catch it because “there was so much happening in the suite at the time.”

“Turns out everybody wants to meet Taylor,” he said. “[Shaquille O’Neal] came on in the suite.”

“I think it was my first [time] really understanding… some of the things that she has to deal with on a [daily] basis,” he continued. “There were so many star-studded people there where it’s like dude, everyone wants to come see her, but the suite is only so big.”

Jason admitted that the celebrities constantly coming and going from the suite had him feeling “overwhelmed” and that he had to take some breathers.

 

 

“It was overwhelming to be honest with you,” he shared. “It was very overwhelming, I was going outside the suite, I was talking to Keegan Michael-Key and his wife… the celebrity attendance was pretty unreal.”

Travis noted in response that his girlfriend had learned to deal with that kind of attention since finding fame and was used to it by that point, despite it being something the brothers were still getting a grasp of.

“It’s the Vegas Super Bowl baby, the stars are out. You gotta love it, man,” Travis said. “Taylor thrives in those situations, she’s been in them countless times in her life.”

Swift was seen cheering on the Chiefs in her suite alongside several celebrity best friends including Blake Lively, Ice Spice, Lana Del Rey, Keleigh Sperry and Miles Teller. Beyond that select group, other celebrities, like O’Neal, got to have their moment with the Grammy winner during the big game as well.

O’Neal told Page Six of meeting Swift, “I just want to shake the hand of greatness.”

“If I see Taylor Swift and get to shake her hand, take a picture, I’ll be good,” the NBA legend, who retired in 2011, explained to the publication at the Shaq’s Fun House Super Bowl party. “She’s a fabulous person. I’m happy for her. I’m proud of her. She’s done a lot. She’s definitely a cultural icon.”

His wish came true as he posed for a photo next to her on Sunday inside Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. In his Instagram caption, O’Neal said that he and Jamie Salter gifted Swift an NFL-themed Judith Leiber bag. Salter, in his own Instagram post, wrote, “Hope you love the @judithleiberny bag. Go KC.”
