Notably, the 2005 season marked the end of V10 engines, and the R25 retired as the last championship-winning car from that generation. From 2006, F1 mandated V8 engines for all cars, and then moved to V6 in 2014.

Renault with their R25 won eight races and claimed 18 podiums in 19 races. Interestingly, one of F1’s genius designers and the current technical director of the Mercedes-AMG F1 team, James Allison, designed that car.

Why V10s are not coming back despite their popularity

Red Bull Racing’s chief technical officer, Adrian Newey is a big fan of the V10 engines. Despite his and many other motorsport enthusiasts’ liking, the return of the V10 engine seems unlikely. The reason? It wasn’t sustainable for the environment.

Newey, speaking about the same, informed that despite the V10 engine’s amazing sound, it was not fuel efficient and directly collides with F1’s current goal of sustainability. Therefore, the FIA has no intention of bringing them back.

“I think most people would say, from a spectacle point of view, you probably want a high-revving V10, normally aspirated. We all kind of pine after the V10s and even the V8s of the 2000s. But of course they are not fuel efficient. So, then you have to have the balance of spectacle versus social responsibility,” revealed Newey as per Motorsport.

F1 is all set to change the engine regulations in 2026, with a more sustainable and hybrid power unit. Newey, who has designed many championship-winning cars to date, reflected on how the series would change completely after this. However, the primary engine would still be a V6.

Newey feels that the 2026 regulations are more of a ‘marketing’ gig. Given that these regulations will focus more on the increased electric output of the power unit, the Briton feels it may lead to absurd driving solutions. Besides, there have also been challenges with the active aero components that the FIA have proposed in tandem.

F1 fans feared for Russell after the crash but the Brit quickly allayed those concerns in his immediate communication with his team.

The crash resulted in the remainder of the race being completed with a safety car.

The FIA are set to launch an investigation into the crash due to the suggestion that Alonso could have break-tested the Brit.

And Russell believes it was “clear” the Spaniard braked 100 metres before the dangerous turn.

He said of the incident: “I mean, my take is I’ve gone off and that’s on me.

“But, I was half a second behind Fernando 100 metres before the corner and suddenly he came towards me extremely quick.

Jason Kelce lost his precious Super Bowl ring in an unusual mishap involving a pool of spaghetti, chili and cheese.

The Philadelphia Eagles hero misplaced the diamond-encrusted token during a bizarre challenge at the University of Cincinnati’s ‘Great Lombaby Games’ event, where he and his brother Travis officiated. As part of the wacky activity, two inflated paddling pools were filled with pasta, dairy and spicy meat sauce containing a pair of socks – one with Jason’s authentic Super Bowl ring, the other housing a counterfeit.

“There was an unfortunate-ness, as you guys know, this game existed because I continuously lose my Super Bowl ring, and I don’t even know if Travis still knows this, but I legitimately lost my Super Bowl ring in this event,” Jason said on the New Heights podcast.

“They could not find it, we have still yet to find it. All of this stuff has been thrown away so I think we can safely assume my Super Bowl ring is now in a landfill someplace in the Cincinnati-tristate area. I didn’t think that would happen.”

In reaction to hearing about the unexpected blunder, sibling Travis labelled his older brother a “f***ing imbecile”, questioning what outcome Jason had expected after plunging his ring into a tub of food. He’d assumed the ring would be retrieved post-event, though speculated on how it could have got lost after discovery.

“The only thing I can think of is at some point, the sock got kicked out of the three-way and it made its way out of the pool and it was thrown away in some shape or form,” Jason continued.

“But yes, the Super Bowl ring is officially gone. We already put the insurance claim in, which, I think the insurance company might have some things to say about whether they’re going to cover that.”



Jason then revealed his plans to Travis about getting a replacement. “Somebody at some point messed with my Super Bowl ring, which I’m fine with, I mean, it’s just a hunk of metal and I’ll just have another one made, I think? They can do that right?” Jason said.

Travis, unsure, responded, “I don’t know, Jason” – prompting Jason to quip that they were “going to find out”.

Jason retired from the NFL following the 2023 season after a 13-year career with the Eagles. He helped Philadelphia win Super Bowl LII against Tom Brady’s New England Patriots in 2018, ending the city’s 57-year wait for a national championship.
