We are only weeks away from the 2024 Met Gala, but will Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce make their red-carpet debut there? 

TMZ reports that it’s unlikely since they both “RSVP’d no” to the “individual invitations.” 

The star-studded event takes place just days before Swift takes the stage for her Eras tour stop in Paris. 

Swift hasn’t been to the Met Gala since 2016. 

It is rumored that the 2016 Met Gala was where she met her now ex Joe Alwyn.

In her 2017 song “Dress,” Taylor sings, “Flashback when you met me / Your buzz cut and my hair bleached.” 

The lyrics correspond to their looks for that year’s event. 

At the 2016 Met Gala, Taylor also had an epic dance-off with Tom Hiddleston. Taylor and Tom went public with their relationship months after their dance-off and ended things in September 2016. 

Swift seemingly referenced that night at the gala in another song, “Getaway Car,” with lyrics like, “The ties were black, the lies were white / The shades of gray in candlelight / I wanted to leave him / I needed a reason.” 

We were really hoping that a Met Gala date night with Travis would inspire another song for Taylor!

The pop star gave Amazon Music listeners commentary about five songs on her “very fatalistic” new album, “The Tortured Poets Department.”

“It’s about a dramatic, artistic, tragic kind of take on love and loss,” she shared.

Swift, 34, did not name names while dishing on “Fortnight” and “My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys,” but she gave rare insight into the relationships that inspired them.

The Grammy winner said she “always imagined” the former took place in an “American town where the American Dream you thought would happen to you didn’t.”

She explained, “You ended up not with the person you loved and now you have to just live with that every day, wondering what would’ve been, maybe seeing them out.

“And that’s a pretty tragic concept, really,” Swift continued. “So I was just writing from that perspective.”

The song is about a “toxic, broken relationship.”

Just hours after being selected to his record 20th NBA All-Star team, LeBron James finished Thursday night’s game with 25 points and 12 assists as the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Chicago Bulls 141-132.

Anthony Davis scored 22 points, D’Angelo Russell scored 29 points with eight 3-pointers, and Austin Reaves finished with 20 points and eight assists. The Lakers won their fourth game in a row as Jarred Vanderbilt scored a career-high 17 points as the team made 60.9% of their attempts.

 

The Lakers put up a season-high 112 points through three quarters and took a 24-point lead that helped them withstand the Bulls’ 39-point fourth quarter after they made 15 of their 18 attempts in a thrilling second period. Both the Lakers’ (141) and the Bulls’ (132) points scored were season highs.

Travis Kelce has welcomed comedian Andrew Santino onto his New Heights show this week, ahead of an episode where is expected to address the new Taylor Swift songs about him.

Santino shared a video on his Instagram story where he’s sat with Kelce, seemingly discussing how he came up with his ‘Cheeto’ nickname. The comedian shared caption the footage: ‘Behind the scenes with @KillaTrav @NewHeightsShow.’

There is no sign of Kelce’s brother Jason in the clip but he has joined to film previous episodes from his home in Philadelphia.

This week’s podcast will have extra interest for the Swifties as it’s the first Kelce has recorded since his girlfriend released her new album, The Tortured Poets Department.

After getting hold of an early leak of the album last week, fans claimed the song ‘The Alchemy’ was about Kelce with lyrics such as ‘touch down’ and ‘Cheers chanted/ cause they said there was no chance/trying to be the greatest in the league/where’s the trophy? He just comes running over to me.’

But Swift left a trick up her sleeve, surprising fans with a second album including the song ‘So High School’ – which fans also believe is about the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl winner.

In that song, Swift sings about: ‘Truth, dare, spin bottles/You know how to ball, I know Aristotle’ and ‘I feel like laughing in the middle of practice/Do that impression you did of your dad again.’

Kelce appeared to acknowledge that song is about him via the New Heights X account, who tweeted out video of the brothers doing an impression of their father Ed the following day.

But the Chiefs star has not spoken directly about the record since it was released.

Swift announced the album’s impending release before the Super Bowl, and Kelce told reporters he had listened to some of the songs.

‘I have heard some of it, yes, and it is unbelievable,’ he said. ‘I can’t wait for her to shake up the world when it finally drops.’

Taking a leaf out of Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany‘s book, the defensive tackle of the Kansas City Chiefs has stepped up in support of the women’s flag football team. Chris Jones met with high school athletes this weekend at the Missouri High School, giving the young girls the experience of a lifetime.

The Chiefs hosted a Girls’ Flag Football Luncheon and shared glimpses of their DT, surprising the young athletes with gift bags. Jones also met the Ottawa University’s women’s flag football team before their KCAC Tournament Championship game at GEHA Field on Sunday. His words of motivation seemed to have worked their magic as the Braves clinched their 4th consecutive victory with a score of 27-8 against Kansas Wesleyan University.

After their latest win, the Ottawa Braves move to the finals of the NAIA Women’s Flag Football Finals. The non-contact sport is not only popular in the university, but a three-time MVP also harbors an Olympic ambition in the sport. Last year, Mahomes had expressed his wish to try his hand at flag football after the sport got included in the Olympics as a new category.

However, the quarterback acknowledged that the players are a bit faster than him, so if in his early thirties, he retains his agility, flag football could see a new star incoming. “I definitely want to,” Mahomes had said in the 2023 press conference. “But I’ve seen some of those guys play the flag football. They’re a little faster than I am. I know there’s not like linemen blocking for you. I’ll be 31, 32 years old. So if I can still move around then, I’m going to try to get out there and throw the football around maybe in LA.”

While Mahomes’ flag football plans are for the future, for now, he continues to show his support for women’s sports in Kansas City, especially with his better half being a former player herself!

After her retirement from the sport, she delved into behind-the-scenes women’s soccer in Kansas City. She is currently a part of the owner group of the NWSL team, Kansas City Current, along with her husband.

The couple is more than just talk when it comes to supporting a cause, as was evident when they helped seal the naming rights deal for the first-ever dedicated stadium for women’s soccer. The CPKC Stadium is worth $120 million, which the Mahomes couple has contributed to. Furthermore, the Current got a legendary coach for mentorship, former HC of the US women’s national team, Vlatko Andonovski. The landmark move even got Brittany a shoutout from her husband’s teammate, Travis Kelce.

“Brittany is actually the one, like, kind of like breaking ground,” spoke the Chiefs tight end on his podcast. “Like to new areas. Not only getting the women’s soccer team but she’s like, it’s the first women’s I believe professional team to have their own facilities…. So hats off to Britt. Shout out to the Current.”

Often spotted in the stands to support the City Current, the mere presence of Patrick Mahomes is enough to gather the attention the sport deserves for its promotion and development. As for Brittany, she might have long said her farewell to women’s soccer, but her tireless work for the Kansas City Current is a testament to her love for the sport.

LeBron James was one vote shy of being a unanimous MVP — that vote went to Carmelo Anthony instead.

Nearly a decade later, James still harbors ill will towards the voter, who prevented him from becoming the first one to win the unanimous award. Shaquille O’Neal suffered that same fate in 1999-2000, receiving 120 of 121 votes. It wasn’t until Stephen Curry (2015-16) that someone was unanimously named the MVP.

And James feels like he was robbed of becoming the first. He hasn’t particularly taken kindly to it and seemingly threatened to expose the voter who did so.

“I also had an opportunity to be the first unanimous MVP if I’d gotten all 120 votes,” he said. “But I got 119.”

“I know who the one vote was,” James added. “He voted for Carmelo… It was a writer from Boston – of course. I know his name, too, but I ain’t gonna give him that light just yet. I’ll wait for the doc on that one.”

The problem is that everyone already knows who the voter is — Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe.

At the time, James thought it was a writer from New York, but that wasn’t the case.

“It’s probably a writer out of New York who didn’t give me the vote,” James said during the award ceremony, via ESPN. I know the history between the Heat and the Knicks, so I get it.”

Washburn explained in an article published in the Globe a day later that he was the voter who cast his vote for Anthony instead of James.

Washburn argued that Anthony was more impactful for his team during the 2012-13 season than James. The columnist credited Anthony with reviving the Knicks, who at the time secured their first division title in almost 20 years. He reasoned that the Knicks wouldn’t have made the playoffs without Anthony, whereas the Miami Heat had Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh alongside James.

He also predicted James would eventually be the NBA’s first seven-time MVP, emphasizing his vote wasn’t biased toward James. The irony here is that would be the last time that the now-39-year-old James would be voted as the league’s Most Valuable Player, so it’s understandable that he would still be up in arms over the fact that he was “robbed” of being the first unanimous MVP in league history.

But saying that he knows the voter by name when everyone knows that Washburn was the one who did it implies that James knows something that everyone else doesn’t. Trying to expose someone who already exposed themselves seems like a weird justification. You don’t have to agree with Washburn — and many people don’t — but it’s not like he hid behind anonymity and waited to release a tell-all book a decade later.

It should also be noted that James assumed that the voter was from New York, which was later proven wrong not even 24 hours after he made his acceptance speech. He now knows that the writer is from Boston but refuses to shine a light on the fact of anything else other than he knows his name. Perhaps this was his selling point in revealing some unknown information to be seen when this “doc” comes to light; perhaps not.
