How fortunes can change in the space of only a few hours.

On Saturday morning there was a smile the size of the Huangpu etched across Lewis Hamilton’s face after he claimed second in the first sprint race of the season in Shanghai. A moment of sweet relief amidst a season of setbacks for Mercedes and Hamilton.

A short while later and Hamilton was still, somehow, able to muster a grin.

 

But this time his expression did not tell the full story of what had just unfolded in qualifying for Sunday’s Chinese Grand Prix as Hamilton failed to make it out of Q1 for the first time since the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in 2022.

The finger of blame cannot be pointed solely at the car for Hamilton’s showing. Not this time.

CHRISTIAN Horner’s sexting scandal will be covered in the next season of the hit Netflix show Drive to Survive.

It will potentially reopen wounds for Horner and his wife Spice Girls star Geri Halliwell as they attempt to move on from the drama.

Horner has previously raged against the scrutiny over the scandal – but now it will be the focus of the Netflix show watched by millions.

Brit filmmaker Gay-Rees revealed he has spoken to the Red Bull chief since the scandal broke before the start of the F1 season.

He claims the 50-year-old ex-racing driver told him: “This is all your fault.”

Horner appears to have been referencing the new focus Drive to Survive has put on F1 – especially drama and scandal behind the scenes of the Grand Prix circus.

Speaking of the scandal, Mr Gay-Rees said: “It will have to be referenced in some capacity, yeah.”

“And they will all want it to be told in a particular way, so it’s about treading that line to keep everybody happy, and to keep Netflix happy, and us – so we can sleep at night with the decisions we’ve made,” he told The Telegraph.

Horner was cleared of misconduct by a Red Bull investigation back in February.

Charles Leclerc has expressed how he is relieved that Oscar Piastri suffered a moment of bad luck during the Chinese Grand Prix on Sunday as it aided his and Ferrari’s cause. Since McLaren had a faster car than Ferrari in Shanghai, Leclerc believes that had Piastri’s car not suffered floor damage, the Australian would have gone past him.

After the Chinese GP, Leclerc said (as quoted on X (formerly Twitter)), “The surprise was Lando [Norris], the McLarens. I believe Oscar [Piastri] had floor damage, otherwise it would’ve been difficult to even finish P4. It [the race pace] is a bad surprise.”

Charles Leclerc’s assessment was spot on indeed. Norris went on to secure an outstanding second podium in the 2024 season, finishing ahead of Sergio Perez’s Red Bull in second. On the other hand, Piastri in the other McLaren slipped down to P8 by the time the chequered flag came out.

Piastri got caught in a multi-car incident during the first Safety Car restart. At the hairpin, Lance Stroll’s AMR24 made contact with Daniel Ricciardo’s car. This propelled the #3 driver to hit the rear underside of Piastri’s MCL38, a contact that caused Piastri’s car to suffer floor damage.

Despite carrying a substantial loss of aerodynamic grip from there onwards, the 23-year-old McLaren driver put in a decent shift at the Chinese GP. His eight-placed finish secured four points for the team and further consolidated their third place in the Constructors’ Championship.

McLaren look to exploit the MCL38’s pace at the Miami GP

McLaren’s Chinese GP results shows that the Woking-based team is in fact trading blows with Ferrari as the second-fastest car on the grid behind Red Bull. At the 2024 Miami GP, the team now plan to introduce the first set of upgrades with a view of eclipsing Ferrari once and for all.

According to Motorsport.com, team principal Andrea Stella confirmed the specifics of the upgrades. While the updates will look to unlock further potential from their 2024 challenger, Stella is also expecting to address a huge concern for the team this year.

He explained, “These upgrades will also include some attempts to improve tire degradation, so we will try and see if we can take a step forward.” While the team are optimistic about these upgrades, Stella did admit that their tire concerns would take more than just one patch to fix.

This is significant news in terms of the Constructors’ Championship as this year, the battle between McLaren and Ferrari will most likely boil down to development. With Miami being the circuit at which McLaren hope to draw first blood, Ferrari could have an answer ready at the very next race in Imola, with their own upgrades.

Fernando Alonso has jokingly responded to suggestions that he was referenced by Taylor Swift in the singer’s new album.

Formula One fans were adamant that Swift took a jab at Alonso on her song ‘imgonnagetyouback’, which features on her album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’.

Prior to Swift’s current relationship with American football star Travis Kelce, she was rumoured to be dating Alonso, who drives for Aston Martin, last year.

 

In the song Swift mentions an Aston Martin being steered into a ditch.

Alonso has now joked about the situation by featuring in a TikTok video on the official AstonMartinF1 page in which he is seen listening to the song and putting his finger to his lips.

The Bodak Yellow hitmaker, 29, took to her social media to address a Twitter user who said that Offset, 30, stepped out with fellow Migos member Quavo’s ex-girlfriend, Saweetie, 29, and said they were ‘lying.’

The user also asked Cardi when she was going to pay for a lawsuit related to a strip club brawl that took place in 2018, after Cardi reportedly accused one of the women working there of having an affair with Offset.

When he accused Offset of being unfaithful, she wrote back, ‘No 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢 you lying! You makin crazy lies starting s*** and putting female rappers in it WIT NO RECEIPTS, no blog ever spoke on this all of a sudden you come out of jail 5 days ago and you made up lied for 2 hours wit NO RECEIPTS!’

This is not the first time Offset has been accused of cheating. There had been numerous previous accusations of Offset’s infidelity leading to the couple’s split in 2018.

The pair ended up reconciling, however in September 2020, it was reported that Cardi B had filed for divorce. The couple found their way back together again the next month.

Meanwhile Cardi is still dealing with the fallout from the mentioned 2018 strip club brawl in New York, and is set to appear at the Queens Supreme Court on September 12, 2022.

The Press rapper was indicted on 14 charges including felony assault, conspiracy and harassment back in 2019. Cardi, whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar, rejected a plea deal in April of that year.

In 2018 she had turned herself over to authorities and was arrested following news of a violent altercation at the Angel’s Strip Club in Queens.

Sisters Baddie Gi and Jade, who work as bartenders at the strip club, claimed the rapper ordered an attack on the women because she believed one of them had an affair with Offset.

Kim Kardashian and Khloe Kardashian celebrated the fifth anniversary of the opening of the UCLA Robert G. Kardashian Center for Esophaegeal Health on Monday during April’s Esophaegeal Cancer Awareness Month.

The day after the event, the sister duo posted snaps and clips from the celebration on their Instagram Stories as they honored their late father, who passed away at the age of 59 in 2003.
