Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce could be in Kansas City on Saturday night to see Lionel Messi and Inter Miami play at Arrowhead Stadium, according to MLS analyst Taylor Twellman.

Twellman was previewing the game on Friday as part of AppleTV’s coverage and was asked by his show’s host on the likelihood of the singer and her Super Bowl-winning boyfriend taking a seat in the stands.

‘Who is thinking Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce will be in the house?’ asked Jillian Sakovits.

The clip of Twellman dropping the hint was then shared by Sakovits on her X account, with the caption ‘Taylor Swift x Messi?’

Kelce, usually the star of the show on the field at Arrowhead, was in Cincinnati this week to host a live version of his New Heights podcast, alongside his older brother Jason.

Swift, meanwhile, has been in Los Angeles recently and is a few weeks away away from the start of her four-month tour of Europe. The couple have also been rumored to be attending Coachella either this weekend or next.

Arrowhead Stadium is set to be packed for Saturday night’s Major League Soccer game, with 70,000 tickets sold for Messi’s visit to Kansas City.

Sporting KC usually plays MLS games at the 18,500 capacity Children’s Mercy Park but with the Argentina World Cup winner in town, the game was moved to the grandest stage in the city.

Miami co-owner David Beckham may join for the game as well – he was in Mexico on Wednesday for his team’s Champions Cup loss to Monterrey.

Tickets are being sold at $120 on resale sites ahead of the game.

A few days ago, the video of Travis chugging a can of beer during what looked like their convocation ceremony made rounds on social media and he received a lot of flak for his behavior, with people calling it immature and childish.

However, as per Jason, it wasn’t their graduation ceremony but the end of a New Heights Live podcast that they hosted live at the University of Cincinnati to raise money for the University’s NIL. It was made to look like a convocation by the University, taking a jibe at Jason and Travis for not picking up their diplomas. Both of them, during an episode of New Heights, had already clarified that it wasn’t a real graduation. However, Travis’s abysmal chug was dunked on by his older brother.

Showing everyone how you really chug a beer, Jason posted a video of former Jets Center Nick Mangold, chugging beer from a can at a Rangers’ playoff game, with a caption praising Nick’s chugging technique and intensity and expressing his love for the NHL. One-time Super Bowl said,

“Beautiful!! @nickmangoldthe intensity of this chug and the sweater just take it to a whole other level, damn I love NHL playoffs!!”

 

Jason’s love for hockey stems from his playing the sport during his school days. Both he and Trav have talked about their love for the NHL many times on the podcast.

Patrick Mahomes is willing to make sacrifices for his family.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, 28, was selected as one of the 2024 TIME100 Most Influential People and spoke with the outlet about how he balances his career and his role as dad to daughter Sterling Skye, 3, and Patrick “Bronze” Lavon III, 16 months, whom he shares with wife Brittany Mahomes, also 28.

“I’ve looked, if I played until Tom [Brady’s] age, my daughter would be 19, 20 years old…I would love to play that long…At the same time, I want to be there for my daughter,” Mahomes said.

“If I can do that, I’ll continue to play. But if I feel like it’s taking away from my family time, that’s when I’ll know it’s time to go.”

The mom of two shared in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE earlier this year that Sterling now understands a little bit about what her quarterback dad does on the football field.

“My daughter, she can finally kind of realize what’s going on and where she’s at, and she loves to watch her dad play football. She can see him from a mile away and pays attention and keeps up with what’s going on with him,” Brittany said.

Swift seems to be getting on well with Kelce’s family, including his brother Jason and mum Donna, as their relationship now reaches five months.

Now, Swift is back on stage, flying to Australia to carry on with her tour. Meanwhile, Kelce will have a six-month break from football after his Super Bowl win – the 2024 season doesn’t start until August, and the Chiefs are hoping to win their third Lombardi Trophy in a row.

The couple were spotted holding hands while leaving a date night at Sushi Park on Friday evening, as seen in photographs obtained by PEOPLE.

Travis called the duo’s romance “the best thing ever,” adding, “I think there’s just something that makes everyone feel like the world is like high school, where your most popular pop star beloved musician somehow how met your most popular beloved athlete and they actually fell in love and it’s just real. Anyone who hates on it is a bitter loser.”

Heading into the match, it was cool to see a quick moment as Messi was ushered past Mahomes heading into the stadium and the duo shared a moment. Mahomes would end up seeing Messi and Inter Miami leave with a 3-2 win in front of a stadium filled with Messi fans despite being a road game. Such is the reality for a player whose very presence can cause major security concerns, overwhelmed fans, and logistical nightmares.

Speaking of popularity, it’s amazing to think how much more well-known Messi is than Mahomes even via social metrics. Mahomes has nearly 7 million followers on Instagram while Messi has over 500 million. On an international level, Messi has a massive cult-like following but now even in America, Messi was recently named the most popular athlete in 2024 by SSRS.

There’s no doubt as Mahomes continues to add records, championships, and international appearances to his resume, he will become more recognizable than ever. But maybe seeing the mechanics behind trying to enjoy life in any public way for a player like Messi might leave Mahomes grateful for how things are now.
