The Los Angeles Lakers will face the Denver Nuggets in Game 5 on Monday at 7 p.m. PT on TNT after beating them in Game 4 at Crypto.com Arena.

The Lakers entered Game 4 down 0-3 in the series and facing elimination, but managed to put together a four quarters of two-way play to stay alive and force the Nuggets to win on their own floor.

Through four games, Los Angeles has had a lead at halftime for each game but found ways to lose in the first three matchups. This time around, though, the Lakers were able to weather the storm and answer any run the Nuggets made to ensure they held on for the win.

Aside from forcing a Game 5, Los Angeles also snapped their 11-game losing streak to Denver that dated back to the Western Conference Finals last year. Each game played out almost exactly the same, with the Lakers going up just to see the Nuggets roar back and take control in the second half.

Getting a win over the defending champions must feel good for the purple and gold who could’ve easily folded and got swept again. However, the Lakers showed real grit and composure in a high-stakes game as they executed their game plan to perfection. Not only that, but for the first time in the series they matched the Nuggets’ physicality and energy.

Anthony Davis and LeBron James showed why the team should never be counted out as they put up masterful performances on both sides of the floor to save L.A.’s season. The duo combined for 55 points, with Davis doing an excellent job cleaning the glass with 23 boards.

Meanwhile, the supporting cast finally stepped up and gave the stars the help they needed. The starting backcourt of D’Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves had bounce back games, particularly the former who dropped 21 points after going scoreless in Game 4. Reaves matched him with 21 points of his own, including several timely buckets to keep the Denver from mounting a run.

Nikola Jokic still managed to stuff the statsheet with a triple-double of 33 points, 14 rebounds and 14 assists, but Los Angeles did well to keep the rest of the Nuggets in check.

Rui Hachimura believes Lakers lack Nuggets’ experience of playing together

Game 3 was a sobering moment for a Lakers team that had just lost a heartbreaker in the game before. Rui Hachimura ruffled some feathers when he said that he thinks Los Angeles lacks the experience Denver has playing with each other.

Somewhat lost in the shuffle of another outstanding performance from LeBron James, a history-making night from Anthony Davis and a bounce back outing from D’Angelo Russell, was the best offensive game of the series from Austin Reaves in the Los Angeles Lakers’ Game 4 victory over the Denver Nuggets.

Reaves finished with 21 points and a team-high six assists as the Lakers staved off elimination. Reaves has been tasked with defending Nuggets star Jamal Murray for much of the series and has done a more than admirable job, holding Murray to just 38% shooting from the field and 20.8% from 3-point range. But it was great to see him provide a boost offensively on this night as well.

The Lakers are still in a 3-1 deficit to the Nuggets and, of course, no NBA team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit to win the series. But Reaves is happy that the Lakers have the chance to play another game and believes they are ready for the challenge that lies ahead.

“We get another opportunity to go play one more game, and if we win, come back and play another one and keep moving from there,” Reaves said after the win. “Obviously wish we won 4-0. Odds aren’t stacked in our favor, but anytime we can keep ourselves floating above water, we have an opportunity to go do something special. We’re ready for the challenge.”

It’s a challenge just beating the Nuggets once, let alone the four straight times the Lakers are going to have to do in order to win this series. A big reason they were able to get their first win in the series was that they didn’t get dominated in the third quarter.

“I think it’s been a point of emphasis already for a reason and going into that third quarter, it was win the third quarter,” Reaves added. “Obviously we didn’t do that but them beating us by two in the third, we’re still up by 11 or 12 or whatever it was so overall a good third quarter.”

The Lakers lost the third but only by two points and maintained a double-digit lead going into the fourth that they were able to hold on to. It’s only one game, but it was a massive game for the Lakers and now they get the chance to turn that one game into two and possibly make some history.

Austin Reaves believes ending losing streak to Nuggets builds confidence for Lakers

In addition to keeping their season alive, the Lakers also ended an 11-game losing streak to the Nuggets with the victory. Losing that many times in a row to the same team has to have some sort of effect on a team and Austin Reaves believes that finally getting a win over Denver builds the confidence of this Lakers team.

“Obviously you see that we can win those games, close games late when they make runs,” Reaves said. “I think that’s when in the past, they’ve really taken advantage of their little 7-0, 8-0 runs that would turn into the 12-2 or whatever. Tonight, we kept them from kind of getting that and more. So it just builds confidence in what we’re trying to do and hopefully continue to do.”

Fans screamed at the sight of the tight end as he danced behind the producer’s set-up to “Firestone.”

At one point in the night, the “New Heights” podcaster took the stage to reveal Swift, 34, agreed to add “four tickets” from her Eras Tour to the live auction, according to an Instagram Story shared by Sophia Romano. 

“Alright, I think I was just talking to my significant other, and we might have one other alternate item that wasn’t on the docket. Um, has anybody heard of the Eras Tour?” he said as the audience cheered.

“Does that fire anybody up right now?!” Kelce continued, adding the tickets can be used at her fall 2024 tour stops in New Orleans, Miami or Indianapolis.

Per auctioneer Harry Santa-Olalla’s Instagram Story, the tickets sold to an unknown bidder for $80,000.

Swift has been soaking up her time with Kelce as she prepares to head back on the road for the international leg of her Eras Tour in a few weeks.

Over the past few months, the two have “deepened their bond” and the 14-time Grammy winner feels “sad” about leaving him behind, a source told Us Weekly.

Anthony Davis finished with 25 points, 23 rebounds and six assists in the Los Angeles Lakers’ Game 4 victory over the Denver Nuggets. In doing so, Davis joined Shaquille O’Neal and Wilt Chamberlain as the only Lakers to finish with at least 25 points, 20 rebounds and five assists in a playoff game.

It was the latest outstanding game for Davis, who has been unstoppable throughout this series. The big man is averaging 30.5 points, 15.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists in the series so far, doing everything he can to help the Lakers try and overcome a Nuggets team that has dominated them for most of the past two seasons.

As for why Davis has been in such a good rhythm offensively in these playoffs, the big man credited his Lakers teammates for setting him up in good positions.

“I just feel good. Just taking my time, reading the defense,” Davis said. “My teammates are doing a great job of getting me the ball in space and in areas where I can be most effective. But it’s another challenge going into Game 5 in Denver and we learned from tonight about what we did great and what we can be better at and try to have some carryover going up there on Monday.”

Davis would continue on, noting that he is letting things come to him and trying not to force too much before again, praising his Lakers teammates.

“I think I’m in a good rhythm with just how we’re playing,” Davis added. “Just playing in the flow, not really forcing anything. Just letting the game kind of come to me. A lot of pick-and-rolls, stuff around the rim. If I get some isolations, just trying to be aggressive if I see an open floor. If I get a rebound, pushing it and being aggressive in those moment.

“But like I said, I think my teammates are just doing a good job of getting me the ball in positions where I can be effective and then I just make the read from there whether it’s a shot or a kick out for a guy to shoot a 3. But for the most part, I’m just trying to be very aggressive knowing it’s gonna open things up for my teammates.”

It took a historic effort from Davis to extend the Lakers season and he joined some truly elite company with his Game 4 performance. If the Lakers plan on coming back to L.A. for a Game 6, Davis may need to have another history-making night.

Darvin Ham outlines message to Lakers before and after Game 4

Thanks to the efforts of Anthony Davis and the rest of the Lakers, they lived to fight on another day and head coach Darvin Ham revealed a message he had for his team prior to, and after the Game 4 win.

“Beautiful day to be alive in order to stay alive,” Ham said. “That was the message [Friday] and the message [Saturday]. Just win one game. And we’ve got to re-focus, re-calibrate and have that same mindset going up to Denver.”

Earlier in the evening, Kelce and Swift were seen arriving at the event together in a video shared on X by another gala attendee. The pair held hands while making their way past guests to join the Mahomes at a table.

In spite of the fact that both James and Durant had outstanding performances on Thursday night, it was James who had a more impressive performance in the fourth quarter. James scored ten of his twenty-one points while playing the entire fourth quarter, including a basket that broke the tie with one minute and eleven seconds remaining. The Lakers were down by 12 points going into the last frame of the game, but they mounted a spectacular comeback comeback to win the game against the Suns and earn their first victory.

“Someone you just compare yourself to,” Durant said about James afterwards. “If you could accomplish and achieve some of the stuff that he’s done, you’re doing pretty solid for yourself. It’s just a baseline for yourself as a player to see how great you can be.”

Durant was phenomenal himself in the contest, finishing with 39 points and 11 rebounds while carrying a team that was missing Devin Booker and Bradley Beal in Los Angeles on Thursday.

Due to a variety of issues, including injuries, load management, and the health and safety protocols of the league, Durant and James have not competed against each other on an NBA court since Christmas 2018. It was a wonderful sight for basketball fans to see them on the court together.

Despite the fact that the Lakers emerged victorious, the entire league was victorious as they witnessed two players who had been buddies since they were 17 years old continue to dominate twenty years later.
