Cruz Beckham splits from talent firm after Posh and Becks resist plan to allow him to just use his first name

The youngest son of David and Victoria Beckham split from his music management firm after the family insisted he use his famous surname.

Tap Management wanted Cruz Beckham to be known just by his first name – but his parents resisted the plan, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

The music firm and Cruz parted ways in January, and the 19-year-old is now signed to another company, C3.

Tap wanted to shield Cruz – who plays guitar, piano, drums and mandolin – from accusations of being a ‘nepo baby‘. He has a Posh Spice tattoo on his arm.

The firm did eventually relent over the use of his surname, but it also found its plans for Cruz would occasionally clash with Brand Beckham events, including football matches and fashion shows.

Insiders say the final straw was when Victoria Beckham scuppered Tap’s scheme for him to go viral singing in down-at-heel London pubs. She later posted on Instagram a video of Cruz doing just that in an upmarket pub.

A friend of the family said: ‘Cruz is really nice and has what it takes to make it. But it was hard for the Beckhams and Tap to agree on a way of working. When he decided to keep the name Beckham, Tap supported him – but it wasn’t their first choice.’

A source added: ‘His management had this plan for him to surprise people by performing in pubs.

‘They hoped someone would spot him and share a video on social media and from there he would go viral. Victoria didn’t warm to that plan, so the idea was shelved.’

But a few weeks later Victoria filmed Cruz singing The Beatles’ Come Together at Fitzrovia’s Lore Of The Land pub, owned by Guy Ritchie.

She signed off the video: ‘Spontaneous performance last night at the pub!’

The source said: ‘The whole point was to distance him from being Posh Spice’s baby boy. Not only had she lifted the plan, but she had scuppered it.’

A Tap source said: ‘We parted company on friendly terms. We are focused on making music artists as successful as they can be. It wasn’t possible in the circumstances.’
