The New York Liberty put on a show on Saturday night. They went on the road to face the back-to-back defending champions, Las Vegas Aces, coming away with a 90-82 victory. New York stands at No. 2 in the Eastern Conference standings, half a game behind the Connecticut Sun.

Sabrina Ionescu, Breanna Stewart, and the Liberty have been rolling. They’re currently riding an eight-game win streak, and while they were tested in facing the WNBA MVP frontrunner, A’ja Wilson, the Liberty proved to be the deeper team.

The game featured an incredible array of WNBA superstars like Kelsey Plum, Chelsea Gray, Jackie Young, Ionescu, and Stewart, but it was also stacked on celebrity row.

One of the major storylines from the game was the courtside attendance of NBA superstars LeBron James, Damian Lillard, and Bam Adebayo.

James was seen embracing Stewart and Ionescu after the matchup, showing high praise for two of the best players in the WNBA.

They’re calling James “LeLiberty” after catching up with a few members of New York’s roster, per SNY Liberty on X. James’ name has been getting clowned for much of the past decade through social media. He’s also picked up nicknames like LeClutch and LeFlop.

His attendance at the game, along with Lillard and Adebayo, shows the rise of the league. Some of the biggest stars are taking time to witness some great women’s basketball, which happens to be a rematch of the 2023 WNBA championship.
