Bronny James Rumored to Have NBA Draft Interest From Opponent of LeBron James

Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James has long stated he wants to play basketball on the same team as his son. That opportunity could be coming soon.

Presumably, James would like to see his Lakers draft his son, Bronny James, in the upcoming NBA draft. If recent reports are true, that move could get complicated.

The Dallas Mavericks are said to have interest in selecting Bronny with the No. 58 pick in the upcoming draft, per Marc Stein. If it were to happen, that move would mean that LeBron might have to play somewhere other than Los Angeles to be on the same squad.

To be clear, the fact that another NBA team has interest in his son likely only makes LeBron proud of the player Bronny has become. Still, it begs that question, what happens if the Mavericks or another team make the move to select James’ son?

There are a few things that could happen. First, there’s the possibility LeBron leaves the Lakers for the team that drafts his son. Certainly, he probably wouldn’t mind teaming up with Mavericks star Luka Doncic.

Then there’s the chance that the Lakers trade for Bronny, though it’s uncertain if the team that drafted him would budge in trade talks.

What is clear is LeBron doesn’t have much left to prove, if anything, after an illustrious career. If the reason he’s still playing in the league is to team up with Bronny, it will be interesting to watch how the draft affects what James and the Lakers do this offseason.
