LeBron James’ son Bronny James is expected to be a second round pick in Wednesday’s NBA Draft, a puzzling development for many fans considering James did not put up big stats with USC basketball.
Earlier this year James’ former coach Andy Enfield, now with the SMU Mustangs, made his opinion on Bronny James’ freshman season with the Trojans very clear.
Enfield highlighted several key intangibles James showed in his first season that could make him attractive to the Los Angeles Lakers or another NBA team come Draft Day.
Enfield told InsideTroy that Bronny James was a “typical freshman” and said he went through an intense process of growth at USC that should serve him well wherever he ends up playing in 2024-2025.
“He went through a lot this year physical and mentally,” Enfield said.
“He’s never wavered from being a great teammate and working extremely hard in practice, and you can count on him as an individual.”
Bronny James also appeared to have a professional mindset from day one according to Enfield’s comments.
“He’s on time. You need him to be somewhere, he’s there, and you need to count on him as a teammate or as a coach he’s there for you,” Enfield added.
While many fans, coaches and teams have focused on negatives leading up to the 2024 NBA Draft including James’ scoring average of 4.8 points per game, Enfield chose to look at the bright side of what the son of the NBA’s all-time leading scorer provides as a player and teammate.
“A lot of positive things to say about who he is as a person, his character, how he buys into the team concept,” Enfield said this past March, adding that Bronny James learned and grew a lot as a player and person during his freshman season at USC.
