Michael Jordan is one of the greatest basketball players of all time. The former Bulls legend was the king of the court for over 15 years. Even off the court, he is an icon in the sporting world.
The life of MJ turned out well when he opted to sign a deal with Nike instead of Adidas. Thus, today, Jordan is a brand and has his own sneaker line, known as Air Jordans. Moreover, as of today, the 58-year-old has earned $1.7 billion from Nike.
Air Jordan is one of the biggest brands in the world. Sneakerheads around the world buy these sneakers in large numbers. Even soccer players around the world spend enormous amounts of money on their sneaker collections.
Michael Jordan rejected by Mbappe
Many wouldn’t even think for a second about buying Air Jordans. However, there was one time when the French superstar Kylian Mbappe rejected the legendary sneakers.
During an interview with ESPN, Mbappe was asked to choose between the Air Jordan and Nike’s other hot-selling shoes, the Air Max. One might expect the answer to be Jordan, however, the 24-year-old preferred Air Max.

Kylian said, “I like Jordan’s, but [Air Max] reminds me of my childhood, and it’s more meaningful to me.”
It was ironic as the World Cup winner was wearing Jordans while giving the interview. Kylian also revealed his love for the Air Max 1. “Because I owned a pair when I was a kid. They represent my childhood, and it is a memory I will keep for the rest of my life,” he said when asked about why he liked the Air Max one.
A pure sneakerhead
No sneakerhead would have preferred the Air Max over Jordan’s but everyone has their own choices. However, Kylian’s love for sneakers isn’t a hidden fact as he is quite a sneakerhead himself.
In a video posted by the complex, the Frenchman went sneaker shopping and spent $1200 on two sneakers. The first one was his favorite Air Max 90 Ice “Gym Red” and the other one was the Jordan XI “Parton” in slick blue color.
Furthermore, Mbappe and his PSG teammate Achraf Hakimi attended a recent game between the San Antonio Spurs and the Brooklyn Nets. And during the game, the striker was seen wearing a classic Air Jordan 1 High in the ‘Midnight Navy’ colorway.
This really shows his love for sneakers. Kylian’s teammate Neymar is also a sneakerhead who once spend $18000 on sneakers. Nike has done a great job in terms of these sneakers.
