Jason Kelce has not been keeping idle ever since he retired from football. He has been making it to NBA games, hosting his podcast as well as planning for the “Kelce Jam” in Cincinnati. But recently, during WrestleMania 40, a backstage encounter between Jason Kelce and his childhood idol Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson sparked a thrilling moment of nostalgia and excitement.
In the latest episode of the New Heights podcast, Jason Kelce shared his recent meeting, as well as recalled his first meeting with the legendary wrestler, actor, and entrepreneur. A meeting he would never forget.
Jason Kelce recounted his first memorable encounter with Johnson, which took place years ago at the Eagles’ training facilities. “He probably doesn’t remember that, but I remember it, because I think everybody remembers when you meet The Rock for the first time,” Jason said. Seeing Johnson again, this time in the vibrant atmosphere of WrestleMania, was a special moment for Kelce. He expressed his admiration for Johnson, “He’s been such an explosive personality for the wrestling world.”
He said even though the Rock had trolled Eagles fans at the event. Arriving nearly two hours late at the event, he was met with boos, which he promptly addressed with his usual flair. “What are you booing? Are you booing because The Rock was supposed to be here at 4 o’clock, is that what you’re booing?” He then teased Eagles fans with a dig at QB Jalen Hurts, saying, “[The Rock] was watching YouTube, watching Jalen Hurts lose in the playoffs again. You boo because it’s the truth.”
But all this was forgotten when the former Eagles Center and his viral picture together took the Internet by storm.Kelce and the Rock make the Internet go gaga over their picture
On a thrilling Saturday night at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field, Jason Kelce surprised fans by stepping into the octagon. Kelce joined wrestling legends Rey Mysterio and Andrade to take on Santos Escobar and Dominik Mysterio—Rey’s son—in a dynamic tag-team match. Alongside him was his former Eagles’ teammate, Lane Johnson, adding to the excitement.
The event became even more memorable when Jason Kelce and The Rock teamed up for a photo that quickly went viral. Dwayne Johnson was wrestling in a prominent tag-team match alongside Roman Reigns against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. In a social media post that quickly captured the attention of fans, an image featuring Johnson was captioned as a “legend,” garnering over 1.1 million views to date. This special night at the Eagles’ home venue not only marked a nostalgic return for Kelce but also showcased The Rock’s continued involvement in wrestling as a part-owner and spokesperson for the United Football League.
As Kelce navigates his transition from the NFL to his next career phase, he could draw inspiration from The Rock’s diversified success across entertainment and sports.
