Everyone noticed the same thing about Bronny James’ jersey number for the Los Angeles Lakers after the team made the reveal on Friday
The former Sierra Canyon and USC point guard has taken another huge step in his basketball career, having been selected by the Lakers in the second round of the NBA Draft, and is likely to be part of the league’s first-ever father-son duo as his dad could return to the team for another season.
“Number Nine: Bronny James,” they wrote as the caption to photos showing the number on a jersey, also revealing the former Trojan will go by “James Jr.”

LeBron James once wore No. 6 for the Lakers, and fans are convinced his son picked No. 9 because it’s an upside-down six.
“He really picked an upside down 6,” one fan said.
“9 is 6 upside down…….meaning LeBron career is upside down & Bronny is coming to take over,” wrote another. “Next on First Take y’all.”
“Turn the 6 upside down it’s a 9 now,” a user pointed out.
“Clever, 9 is an upside down 6,” another fan remarked.
“6 TO 9 LETS GOOOOOOOOO,” said another.
Bronny James Has Something To Prove
The Los Angeles Lakers used their No. 55 pick to select Bronny James this week. Many believe his arrival in the pros has nothing to do with skill but everything to do with LeBron James being his father.
The youngster admittedly did not inspire much confidence in his lone college season, averaging 4.8 points, 2.1 assists, and 2.8 rebounds a game. However, he didn’t do his prospects any harm at the league’s scouting combine and received 10 workout offers.
He opted to work out for just the Lakers and Phoenix Suns.
Now that he’s with the Lakers, he will be out to prove he’s there on merit.
