LeBron James has been ruled out for the remainder of the All-Star Game after suffering a right hand contusion in the first half.

The festivities were cut short for the two team captains on Sunday, as the Los Angeles Lakers star joined opposing captain Giannis Antetokounmpo on the bench for the rest of the event.

James appeared to injure his hand after attempting to block a Pascal Siakam layup. He jammed his fingers into the rim and seemed to grab his hand gingerly after the play.

The 19-time All-Star had played 14 minutes up to that point, scoring 13 points with one rebound and four assists.

Prior to the game, James had said he intended to be available for the final 23 games of the Lakers season, hoping to get his squad into a playoff spot.

So far this season he is averaging 30 points, 8.4 rebounds and seven assists.

Antetokounmpo, meanwhile, left the game after scoring the first basket of the night. He injured his wrist against the Chicago Bulls on Thursday but decided to still take part in the game.LeBron insists 'I'll be fine' after exiting All-Star Game with hand injury
