LeBron James will turn 40 in the middle of the next NBA season, and his agent and close friend Rich Paul revealed how long he thinks the Lakers superstar has left in the league.
James has not shown many physical signs of slowing down, averaging 25.7 points this past season, good enough for 13th in the NBA.
Yet, with 19-year-old son Bronny’s possible NBA arrival, and James’ own contract status, much is up in the air for one of the greatest players of all-time.
Paul revealed on the ‘All the Smoke’ podcast that he believes James still has five years left in the NBA ‘body-wise’.
Mentally, Paul thinks James’ remaining capability is a little shorter, estimating ‘2-3 years’.
The Lakers season ended in the first round of the playoffs, losing to the Nuggets in five games
Paul was last seen in public with famous singer Adele at a Lakers game against Denver
Paul has been in a relationship with singer Adele for over two years, with the ‘Rolling in the Deep’ performer all but confirming the pair is now married last year.
James will have a season No 22 in the NBA and he has until June to make a decision on next year.
He can either opt into a $51.4million deal, the second year of a $99million contract he signed before this season. Or, James can become a free agent and possibly play for a fourth NBA team.
James’ offseason will be busy, helping Bronny with his next move, which could be a return to college or entering the NBA with his father.
James was also one of the dozen players called up to the United States Olympic team for this summer in Paris.
