The powerful point guard for the Milwaukee Bucks, Damian Lillard, is well-known for his commitment to being a caring and involved father in addition to his extraordinary abilities on the basketball court.
Lillard recently took his three kids—a girl and two boys—to the Portland basketball court to share his love of the game in the hopes of developing them as players and people.
For the Lillard family, the court became a place of learning and camaraderie. Damian, who was well-known for his tenacity and work ethic, taught his kids these lessons while they played games of dribbling, shooting, and sprinting.
Lillard wanted to instill in them a love of the game as well as values like perseverance, discipline, and collaboration through these exercises.
Beyond just the surface level, Lillard used the basketball floor as a platform to teach his kids important life skills. He underlined the need of having objectives, taking on obstacles head-on, and accepting failure as a necessary step toward achievement.
In addition to helping them improve as basketball players, Lillard hoped to impart life skills that would benefit them in all they accomplished.
In addition, the Lillard family created priceless experiences on the basketball floor with each other. The joy and excitement they experienced during these sessions led to the siblings and their father becoming closer. It was a helpful reminder that, even though they might lead to rivalry, sports also provide families with an opportunity to strengthen their bonds, support one another, and create priceless memories.
Lillard moved to the Bucks to play, but he hasn’t been able to live close to his kids since splitting up with his ex-wife. Thus, in Portland, where Lillard appears to have spent his whole career, these are special moments that enable him to be near his kids.
