The Los Angeles Lakers will honor Kobe Bryant with a statue outside their home arena on February 8th before their game against the Denver Nuggets. Bryant will join the ranks of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Shaquille O’Neal, Magic Johnson, Elgin Baylor, and Jerry West as former Lakers who have received this prestigious recognition. Shaq and the TNT crew praised Bryant, with Shaq sharing his thoughts on the “Greatest Laker” debate. While he refused to choose a side, Shaq believes that comparing them takes away from their incredible achievements and the joy they brought to the franchise. The Lakers made the right decision in retiring their jerseys and erecting a statue in their honor. O’Neal also opened up about his regrets concerning not saying goodbye to Bryant and his sister before their untimely deaths, which have changed his perspective on expressing his love and checking up on loved ones.
