Resilience is a defining characteristic of this Celtics club. At Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on Saturday night, that was on exhibit.
In the second half of their 118-94 victory, the Cavaliers outscored the hosts 64-40 to win Game 2 handily at TD Garden. Boston answered two nights later with a commanding 106-93 triumph.
Even if it’s incorrect to focus just on Jayson Tatum’s scoring, the visitors were relieved to see him emerge from his slump and score 33 points.
After two victories and a third consecutive trip to the Eastern Conference Finals, the Celtics’ initial injury report indicates that Kristaps Porzingis is healthy. The seven-foot-three center is still sidelined because of a right calf issue.
Luke Kornet joins him on Boston’s injury report; he is likely out due to discomfort in his right calf. In eight minutes, the seven-foot-two center scored two points on an alley-oop from Tatum, a rebound, and a block.
Regarding the Cavaliers, they have listed Donovan Mitchell’s status for Monday’s game as questionable because of a strained left calf. Thanks to Jrue Holiday’s more aggressive style, the five-time All-Star shot fire for 23 points in the first half and had 30 points going into the fourth quarter before faltering. In the last frame, Mitchell could only generate four points.
Jarrett Allen (bruised rib) is originally listed as questionable for Game 4, per the custom for this series.
That occurs two days after Dean Wade made his knee injury comeback, which had kept him out of action since March 10.
The home audience gave the six-foot-nine forward a standing ovation when he walked off the bench, and he immediately made a three-pointer after entering the game. In 17 minutes, he ended with three rebounds, three assists, and five points on 2/6 shooting.
Wade’s injury is not noted on Cleveland’s record.
At Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, the Celtics and Cavaliers will begin Game 4 on Monday night at 7:00 p.m. EST.
