Devin Booker’s Nike Book 1 Sneaker Set to Drop in Second Snakeskin Colorway

Following the Nike Book 1 “Hike” that released earlier in April, Devin Booker’s first signature sneaker is getting another edition inspired by his love of hiking and Arizona’s fauna.

The Nike Book 1 “Rattlesnake” once again makes use of a snakeskin pattern, albeit in more sparing fashion this time around. While the rest of the sneaker is clad in white from its upper down to the insole, the Swoosh takes on a green snakeskin pattern with an embroidered border. An insole than sits inside to match branding of the same color on the tongue tag and heel pull and represent Booker’s Phoenix Suns.

“Rattlesnake” comes as the sixth iteration of the Nike Book 1 and the fifth since it got its global launch in February. Although many have praised the model, which riffs on Nike classics including the Blazer and Air Force 1 Low, it hasn’t been without its detractors.

Booker himself tacitly agreed with complaints about the shoe’s rollout on social media, which was in large part based on the shoe debuting in Miami and taking three more months to hit stores outside of the city. Sneakerheads have also criticized its familiarity, which comes amid a wider sentiment that Nike has lost a step in innovation.

For as polarizing as the Book 1 has been, it has represented Booker’s story well through small details and colorways that include a pair inspired by his dog.

The Nike Book 1 “Rattlesnake” will release May 11 through the Snkrs app and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $150, which is the same as the other premium snakeskin version.
