Lakers Triumph Over Celtics Despite Missing Star Players
In a thrilling Thursday evening matchup, the Boston Celtics played host to the Los Angeles Lakers at their home court in Massachusetts. Despite the absence of key Lakers players LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the Celtics faced a setback, losing to the Lakers with a final score of 114-105.
Notably, Lakers’ Austin Reaves and D’Angelo Russell showcased a formidable performance, combining for an impressive 48 points and 17 assists. The Lakers’ sharpshooting was also on display, with a remarkable 52.8% three-point shooting accuracy.
In a brief two-minute appearance during the game, Dalano Banton contributed two points, one rebound, and one assist. However, the Celtics announced on Friday that Banton has been assigned to the Maine Celtics in the G League, as confirmed by the official Celtics statement: “We have assigned Dalano Banton to the @MaineCeltics.”
Selected as the 46th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft from Nebraska, Banton spent his initial two seasons in the NBA with the Toronto Raptors. With 23 games played for the Boston Celtics this season, including one start, Banton has been averaging 2.4 points and 1.5 rebounds per game, maintaining a 40.4% field goal accuracy.
The Maine Celtics have disclosed that Banton is set to participate in Friday’s game against the Grand Rapids Gold. Given the Celtics’ upcoming game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday, it is anticipated that Banton may be recalled to the NBA without missing any gameplay.
Despite the setback against the Lakers, the Celtics maintain their top position in the Eastern Conference with an impressive 37-12 record in their first 49 games. Over the last ten games, they hold a commendable 7-3 record, and on their home court in Boston, the Celtics boast an outstanding 22-3 record in the 25 games played.
