“$390,000 That Elbow Cost Him”: Gilbert Arenas And Shannon Sharpe Use LeBron James As An Example To Explain Why The NBA Has No Rivalries

There was a time in the NBA when tensions between rival teams made for thrilling matchups. But according to Shannon Sharpe and Gilbert Arenas, those rivalries are no more. Arenas explained how offseason training together has eliminated beef between players. He also pointed out the hefty fines for any on-court misconduct as a reason for players to avoid altercations. Sharpe added that today’s players grew up together, making it hard to develop animosity on the court. As a result, the intense rivalries of the early 2000s are unlikely to return in the current NBA.
