UNCLEAR FUTURE!! Kansas City Chiefs star could get jail time after crash in Lamborghini

Kansas City Chiefs superstar Rashee Rice may be hit with jail time after crashing a Lamborghini recently, causing a six-car collision.

After footage emerged of Rice and a friend both exiting the vehicle via the passenger-side draw in an apparent bid to fool the cameras, the Chiefs star has now admitted to being behind the wheel.

Rice‘s lawyer has now said that he expects police to file charges with Rice having been street racing at the time of the crash in Dallas, Texas.

Rice was racing driving a Lamborghini with another driver, who was driving a Corvette that he is also said to own. Street racing is a felony crime, and it is a third-degree felony if there is any bodily harm caused by the street racing, while it can be second degree if there is serious harm or death caused.

While there were no deaths from the collision, someone was said to have been treated at hospital, and that could be enough for the felony to be upgraded to second-degree.

Beyond all that, the pair left the scene of the accident and did not wait for police, which is a felony in itself. Charges in relation to leaving the scene of an accident will again depend on whether the injuries are deemed serious or not. There was also marijuana in the car, but the local prosecutors’ office has a policy of not prosecuting for marijuana possession.

Could Rice go to jail?

Rice could face jail time should he be found guilty of street racing. In a third degree street racing felony, the recommended sentence is two to 10 years, while second degree is as much as 20 years.

Leaving the scene of an accident without serious injury is punishable by one to five years, while if serious injury did occur, that could rise to two to 10 years.

Rice is said to be working with prosecutors, taking full accountability for the incident at this stage. That could see his lawyers work a deal with the prosecutors’ office, but whether they do or not, he will almost certainly face an NFL suspension under the player conduct policy.
