Despite the Chiefs declining Clyde Edwards-Helaire’s fifth-year option last year, the running back chose to re-sign with the team as a free agent.

Edwards-Helaire emphasized his attachment to Kansas City, affirming it as the optimal environment for his career growth.

Recognizing the impact of injuries and limited playtime during the 2022 postseason, he opted to forego his option.

Nevertheless, Edwards-Helaire maintains a positive outlook on his tenure with the Chiefs, aspiring to play a pivotal role in their achievements.

During the 2023 season, he participated in 15 games, starting three, and tallied 223 rushing yards alongside 17 receptions for 188 yards, securing a touchdown.

He is committed to continuing his journey with the Chiefs into the 2024 season.
