Dallas Middle Schooler’s Family Seeks Return of Luchador Mask Worn by Jason Kelce at Chiefs’ Super Bowl Celebration

The family of a Dallas middle school student is asserting ownership of a luchador wrestling mask worn by Jason Kelce during the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl celebration and is now seeking its return.

Kelce, 36, revealed on a recent episode of the podcast “New Heights” that he found the mask on the dance floor in Las Vegas after the Super Bowl victory and credited it with adding to the celebratory atmosphere of the night.

The Eagles center expressed remorse to the mask’s owner, unaware that the owner would come forward. Elijah Smith, an 8th grader and dedicated Chiefs fan from Dallas, had given Kelce the mask and even posed for a photo with him wearing it. However, amidst the festivities, the mask was not returned to Smith.

Smith’s family considers the mask a good luck charm, as it bears an autograph from Chiefs player Trent McDuffie from the previous year’s Super Bowl afterparty. It has been present for the Chiefs’ last four Super Bowl appearances, symbolizing luck for the family.

While disappointed by the mask’s absence, the Smiths harbor no ill feelings towards Kelce, understanding his joy and excitement during the celebration. They hope to have the mask back in their possession before the next season begins, with Elijah expressing a desire for Kelce to autograph it upon its return.

Despite being without the mask, the Smiths remain uplifted by the energy Kelce brought to the Chiefs’ celebration, highlighting the Kelce brothers’ reputation as life-of-the-party personalities wherever they go.
