Each of the last two times Kirk Cousins and the Vikings have come to an agreement on a contract, it’s been a fully guaranteed multi-year deal. That won’t be the case this time around.
According to , the Minnesota Vikings “really like” Cousins and have already reached out to his representatives to begin negotiations on a contract.
However, the Vikings won’t offer Cousins another fully guaranteed contract.
Back in 2018, the Vikings signed Cousins to a three-year, $84 million deal that was fully guaranteed and re-upped with the Vikings three-years later with a two-year, $66 million deal in 2021. He played last season on a $35 million contract.
However, this time, Cousins is older (he will turn 36 just before the start of the 2024 season) and is also coming off a torn Achilles that ended his 2023 season after eight games.

Despite the age and injury, Cousins is still a capable quarterback. He’s exceed 4,000 passing yards in seven of the last eight seasons and was on pace to exceed that mark in 2023 prior to the season-ending injury.
However, despite the great individual success Cousins have had, the four-time Pro Bowler has won just one playoff game over his career.
