ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported that Kelce had informed teammates of his decision to retire following Philadephia’s Wild Card defeat to Tampa Bay.
In the aftermath of the loss, the 36-year-old looked visibly emotional and exchanged heartfelt hugs with friends and family in attendance.
Speaking publicly for the first time since Monday evening, Kelce said he has not made a decision on his NFL future and needs more time after such a heartbreaking end to the season.
Kelce addressed widespread speculation on his possible retirement after 13 seasons in the NFL with his brother Travis on the pair’s popular New Heights podcast.
I didn’t announce what I was doing on purpose, despite what I guess was leaked to the media.”
“People can kind of feel body language and stuff,” Jason admitted on New Heights, explaining that he was holding back on making a firm decision about his career until the Eagles exit interviews for the season are conducted this week.
“I just don’t think you’re in a position after a game like that to really make that decision. I just don’t,” he said
“There’s too much emotion in the moment, there’s too much going down in the moment to really fully grasp that decision.
